Court Street bridge

Today we continued our tour with a vosit to tbe court Street bridge, where Rochester used TK have a subway run across the river. Now its a creepy, debris filled cave. So cool. I'm not one for most grafitti but the kind in there was so well done.

In the bridge you can climb on all sort of walls and look out over downtown. The car traffic of the bridge echoes above you. The further you go, the darker and drippier the cave gets. I feel like so many awesome events could happen in here.

It reminds me of the Buffalo downtown tunnels that I still want to visit. anyone know a good entrance?

Night out in Rochester

last night we headed out for a tour of the night people with Masumi. After a Lebanese dinner, complete with Casio midi music, we went out. we started at a hipster bar for a drink before moving on to a bear bar. Then we ended up at Tilt, Rochester's Marcella's. They all seemed nicer than the Buffalo equivalents but maybe it was because we were playing tourist.

At Tilt we got a whole bunch more dancing in.

Rave long and Prosper in Rochester

We headed up with (e:yesthatcasey) to visit Masumi and go to a Rave at the California Brew Haus. The venue was so strange but the show was amazing. I actually felt old compared to some of the raver kids there. But it was nice - we even got invited to the after party at a cute boy's house. I danced my tail off, especially when I wore the bear mask.

There's a couple happy hardcore raves coming up at Milkies of all places. maybe they'll be fun.

Last day in marketing

Yesterday was the last day of my contract in marketing. I start in clinical IT next Wednesday. I'm so bummed that I won't be on the same team as (e:Paul) anymore - working with him has been the best job I've ever had. Even the 2am nights, sorry (e:terry).

It's still exciting to start a full time job and work on new projects. Gonna try and take IT by storm and learn as fast as I did in marketing. And maybe we'll work together again one day.

Broken screen

Tonight I accidentally left my computer on the floor while I cooked a stir fry for dinner, and (e:terry) also accidentally stepped on it. :( The patterns in the cracked panel make for some kind of crazy artwork.

I was going to program, but now I feel so thrown off. Is it weird that I empathize with an old Dell?

At least the new LCD panel is only $70, and should be here by Saturday. An old low res external monitor works until then. Still sucks.

Doubletree Cafe

(e:paul) and I met up with (e:terry) for lunch at the cafe inside the Doubletree hotel. It's right next door to the building we work in.

The waitress was super nice. I got a hummus wrap, and lentil soup. The wrap was good, the soup was alright. Paul and I split an order of mozzarella sticks that were terribly amazing.

Trinity Tower lights

Trinity Towers installed new lights on their buildings when they were doing work last month. They're so bright, even without the porch light its almost day outside. I wonder if this is against code. I want to contact them about it, and if they don't respond I'll ask the city.

Another graveyard ride

(e:yesthatcasey), (e:paul), (e:steve) and I took advantage of the warm day to ride around the cemetery. There was a lot of picture taking and meta-picture taken of that picture taking.

Afterwards we rode up through the park, through North Buffalo to walk Midnight. I don't think he expected to see four people there for him.

Allen Street Consulting, part II

Today (e:paul) and I went with (e:terry) to move the new server, and check out (e:allenstreet)'s new digs. The space is freaking awesome if you ask me.

The server is all set up now in it's new case. Super fast and in a much cleaner environment than the basement. It might even cannibalize some of its other server brothers and virtualize them.

From the back hall, Paul and I noticed a tiny house (or connecting building?) between the two houses across from Founding Fathers. Never noticed from the ground.

French Onion soup and internet grilled cheeses

I made a vegetarian French onion soup tonight with purple onions. It was real good - I didn't realize how long you had to carmelize the onions (in olive oil and thyme) until I asked my mom, but I left mine on the stove for nearly two hours. I used a mushroom and faux-chicken broth with some red wine, boiled it down even further, and then broiled cups with a baguette slice and provolone.

Soup and melty cheese makes me think of grilled cheese. Somehow I ended up on this reddit dedicated to every type of grilled cheese - the internet has everything.
