The life and death of the squid babies
The squid babies we found were not long for this world. We tried to save a few egg sacs from drying up on the beach by putting them in a bottle, and it worked - for a little while.
They even started breaking out of their eggs and swimming. It was so cute. But when we packed up our campsite tomorrow, we accidently left them in the car. I think they might have cooked because none of then swam after that. So we gave them a good send off in the sea before we went home.

Beach party
The night got much better when we walked down the beach and found this crazy house party going on. It was packed and had a much more fun crowd, plus free beer. We made friends with a guy from Toronto named Jonsey plus a human teddy bear named Paul. By the time we left the sun was already coming up - we had to leave our place the next morning.

Hurricane Arthur
The last days here are soaked by the hurricane Arthur. Its been pouring all day, but (e:Paul) and I got to swim in a stormy Atlantic anyway. The waves were so strong, I think we would have been swept away if we went any further.
The fireworks are delayed but we might be able to catch some tomorrow or on the way back.

The ocean wants you dead
I thought I became comfortable with the ocean. I got over crabs being in the water, the thought of rip tides and sharks, and even touched comb jelly fish (they don't sting).
But this fucker is so scary. (e:Paul) says it's a horseshoe crab. It has a poisonous stinger, a bunch of claws and pincers. Its also a type of spider and not a crab, so watch out (e:mike).
Still I love swimming in the ocean. The beach here is so amazing I want to swim and ride the waves all day.
After we got back we went to a really nice vegetarian/local restaurant called tinys. Paul had a shrimp noodle dish and (e:terry) and I split falafel tacos and polenta veggies.

Another day at the beach
This time at the family end with my family which is decidedly less cruisy.
The waves were much bigger and so much more fun to ride in in. Some points
you couldn't even get up, they'd just knock you over. The waves alone make the ocean so much better than the lake.

Day at the beach
Tuesday we went to the beach (after watching more HGTV all morning). We had to cross this break wall that was super long to the end of the cape. Then after walking through some poison ivy we got to the nude beach.
The nude beach and gay beach were fun and kind of cruisy. Everyone is looking everuone else uo and down and there were some serious porn staches going on.
I was afraid of the water at first - crabs and rip tides - but the waves were too fun. The ocean still seems like it was designed to kill you.
On the way back we walked through this sandy marsh area. Somewhere along the way I got a tick, which I discovered when we got back. Who knows if it had Lyme disease because I was in the shower and he fell down the drain. Fuck ticks.
Afterwards we had a nachoes at this Mexican place called Lorainnes with a super friendly waitress. Then we ate again with my uncles and family to celebrate their 15th anniversary.

Lobster bib
I've never been in such a touristy place before. Everyone is hawking their restaurant and knick knacks as you walk by. I don't think I'd ever walk down Elmwood if Buffalo were like that.
The architecture is what you'd think a seaside town would be. It's really crowded and the street is always packed. Pedestrians and bikes are everywhere, and cars are always stuck with no place to go. I love it.
At night we went to this restaurant called Patio. (E:Paul) got his huge lobster. The pasta was pretty over priced and blah but it was a seafood restaurant.

The gayest place on earth
After we got in, we had trouble finding our room. For some reason the house number I wrote down on the phone with the owner was way off from what it actuly was. I swear I heard him right and he told me the wrong thing.
So we had a taco dinner with my family at their rental. Afterwards we headed out with my uncles to see the bars on Commercial St. They were insanely packed with the gayest and buffest looking people I've ever seen. The drink prices were also insanely priced. The one bar was like Cathode but with 10x the people and space, but just as cheesy music.
The night was weird but it wasn't long before we headed home.

PTown bound
We are on the way to Provincetown right now. The long drive is so boring. I absolutely hate driving. We split the driving up pretty evenly but it'll be over three hours each so far this weekend. If it were up to me I would close half the 90 and put all the money into a parallel rail line. I wish there was a way to get there by train.
We're driving through these amazing looking hills and forests but you can't really tell since you move so fast and have to pay attention to a strip of asphalt. It's weird that we are completely atomized and anonymized in the car, driving through generic rest stops, ignoring anything that's not on the highway. But (e:Paul) is chatting with people on grindr about great places to hike nearby where we're driving through.

Human tested dog treats
As seen in a Sodus Bay station. They actually sound good - I wanted to try one of the peanut butter ones but there was no way of telling which was which. I bet (e:Paul) would eat the beef ones. Woof.
