La tee Da

Friday night (e:Paul) and I got (e:terry) to ditch taxes at night and meet us at La Tee Da for dinner and beer. It was really good but seemed kind of pricey. I wanted to use a gift certificate that was on the fridge apparently for years but Paul thought it was too old.

We split an amazing salad with goat cheese, and eggplant buffalo sticks. I had a vegetable creamy polenta entree that was humongous.

While we were there we ran into a girl, Emily, whose brother I used to row with. Apparently the Nugent family bought the restaurant.

Duolingo gets dark

A little lebensmüde at the retirement home, I guess.

Hopefully I'll never need to use this sentence.

666 can go to hell

I'm sick of your tag. Seriously you have the worst tag ever. It's not clever, or creative or good looking in any way. You feel the need to ruin everything with it though. At least Hart Atak put his shitty tag in interesting places. I hope they catch you and you can use the few brain cells the spray paint hasn't killed to clean it all up.

Woodcock in the window

(e:paul), (e:terry) and I were in the backyard about to go on a bike ride yesterday when we heard a huge thud. It turned out that this big fat cute woodcock flew into one of the windows. He couldn't fly right away but maybe he had a bird concussion or something.

He let Terry pick him up so he could be moved to a better spot. When we came back, I felt guilty and wanted to bring him in so he didn't get gefressen by a cat. Maybe Basra could have had a new pet (jk Basra would have eaten him).

He was gone though, and there were no feathers on the ground. I hope he flew away.

Spring again

I got (e:terry) on the first spring bike ride. We rode around the park and parkways so he could take a break from tax time.

I can't wait for riding to be this good all the time this summer. On the way back we ran into Linsday for a few seconds.

At home, we walked with (e:paul) and went to Taza to be outcooled for some coffee.

Day 2 of Tronno

The next day I don't think we got up until noon. We decided to walk over to the gayborhood for brunch at a place called Sambucas. I've never seen such a high concentration of gays in one spot before - Keith had to have been the only straight guy in the restaurant. (e:Paul) had a missed connection walking down the street. A man wore leggings unironically.

Next we walked down to the lake to hang out, stopping at the antique aka hoarder mart. It literally smelled like cat ladies and hoarders in this giant warehouse. The actual public market looked way more awesome but it was closed.

Someone hit the car in the garage and ditched, but a lady saw and left a note. So lame but it was only a scratch so whatever

I drove back for part of the way and there was only one near casualty. Gonna be a pro at this rate.
I really liked going away for the weekend. Toronto is so close, and always has stuff going on so I don't know why we don't think of it more. Is it because there's no cell phone service for us?

Andy C and Wilkinson at Sound Academy

At night we stocked up on beer and hung out for a while before going to the show.

The Andy and C and Wilkinson were insanely good and so was the venue and the sound. We danced so hard that (e:paul) and I had to go shirtless like all the bros were.

On the way back Dave and I saw these drips of blood followed by a big puddle at a bus stop. I wonder what happened there?

Afternoon in Toronto

This weekend, (e:paul), (e:terry), (e:libertad), (e:keith) and I headed up to Toronto for Andy C and Wilkinson as part of Bass Week Toronto. We didn't end up leaving until about 3 on Saturday but that gave us more than enough time to walk around part of downtown.

image
image
The Westin hotel was super nice and only a mile away from Sound Academy. I don't understand why check in isn't an automated process by now though, it was so packed.

image
image
image
I hadn't been to Toronto since 2007, I think. It's crazy how many more towers and how much further and bigger their downtown has gone since then. They definitely don't think twice about knocking down the old for the new - how could you when you're that big?
image
image
image
Downtown Toronto is really overwhelming. There's so much going on at once trying to get your attention, like noise and advertising that it gives me the same feeling of walking around the crowded Galleria or Walmart.

It took us forever to decide where to eat but we ended up at this Thai/bar place on Yonge Street. I had the green curry which was okay. No idea what the restaraunt was actually called

Air filters need to be changed

The air filter for the furnace is supposed to be changed every three months. We haven't changed it since October. (e:Paul) and I got a new one today, but if this is the filter I can't imagine what our lungs are taking in.

Ich bin ein Spaghettifresser

Lately (e:Paul) and I have been eating so much spaghetti and pasta for dinner. Usually it's the corn-potato-soy noodles from Target or Wegmans, sometimes the quinoa. Last night we had this crazy good fresh rice pasta from Wegmans. Paul put butter, cheese, walnuts, and we ate it with boiled greens, asparagus and chopped purple cabbage.

image

Watching these videos from this comedian called Ladykracher, we learned the German slur for Italians is "spaghettifresser" or someone who eats spaghetti like an animal. I don't know if that's actually offensive to an Italian but it doesn't seem to have much of a punch in English. I'm not Italian but I'm definitely a spaghettifresser.
