Bacon- and not in a good way

On my way back to the City from AZ I made my usual stop at Sprouts

for my favorite sandwich: bacon, avocado and turkey on multigrain. I was the first customer at the counter and I figured in 5 minutes I'd be on my way to meet Momma Ho for my ride to the airport. It's a fairly simple sandwich to make, however the woman behind the counter took literally 20 minutes to make it. She did a lot of chopping and moving things around and looking confused. When she handed me the final product I had this feeling that I should open the package and inspect the sandwich (which is something I never normally do). Turns out I should have listened to my gut. Once I was on the plane ready for my 5 hour flight I opened the wrapper and took a huge bite and was perplexed. Like a idiot I took a second bite. It was then that I realized what the problem was. Raw bacon. I was deathly ill for the second time in one week. Have you ever been sick in a airplane bathroom? I'd rank it up there with top 5 least favorite things in my life.

Oh Miss USA

I didn't actually watch Miss USA last night because that's 2 hours of my life that I'd never be able to get back. I also knew that the best parts would be on the gossip blogs this morning. I was right.

Miss California managed to make a fool of herself. Just watch and see for yourself:

Um Jessica do you have a tatoo?

While in Arizona Sarah and I made the pilgrimage to the gas station taco joint. I love this place because of their amazing taco action. They also usually have amusing vending machine trinkets. This past time we both got temporary tattoos. My sister totally scored with a wizard/Viking tattoo.

Fast forward to home: We applied the tattoo and then took pictures of it with my momâ€™s camera. My mom then went through her camera and saw the picture. The following day I was doing her hair and she casually asks "Do you have a tattoo Jessica?". I could not believe that #1 she would think that I'd have a tattoo before Sarah and #2 that I would get a wizard/Viking tattoo of all things!

Shrimps

A month or so ago (e:businesscheese)'s 'rents came into town. Like everything else in my life it turned into a competition into who could win their affections. Papa (e:businesscheese) hearts 3 things: Cap'n Crunch, Coca Cola and Shrimp. I combined 2 of his loves into one delicious appetizer. Needless to say they were a hit.

First you take fresh whole jumbo shrimp. Peel and de-vein.

Dip in seasoned flour then egg.

And most importantly the Cap'n Cruch. I love how it's Cap'n Crunch and not Captain Crunch.

Fry.

I don't have any pictures of the finished product, but they were delicious.

Salvatores

In Feb when Momma Ho and I went to visit le bebe we stayed at Salvatores. It was amazingly tacky. It was pretty much like staying at your Italian Grandmothers House if it was decorated for Easter.

It's good to be back

After the world's most dramatic vacation (I blame PMS for my insanity) I'm back in the city. I wasn't sure how I'd feel about this as I kinda just wanted to go somewhere and forget about life period.

Turns out being back is not so bad. When I arrived at work everyone was actually happy to see me. It's a nice feeling. And despite having a shit load of work, I'm not hating work at all.

And the icing on the cake: Saks is having a huge sale. I went and bought some lip balm, various face creams (I'm such a sucker for that junk) and (drum roll) Marc Jacobs sunglasses.

Basically I'm going to use work and retail therapy to drown my sorrows. As of day one it's working.

Easter Basket '09

Me: So am I getting a Easter Basket?

Mom: No Jessica you're not. What would I even put in one for you?

Me: A baby chicken, jelly beans, candy, Easter surprises.

Mom: I don't even know what a Easter surprise is.

Me: Buuuuut my heart wants one.

Mom: Fine. Go take a shower we're going to the store.

Moral of the story: If you say your heart wants it to your Mom you get what you want.
