So I know I'm back to hating the world/humanity- but every now and then there are people who make me almost retract that.

We have a guy in our office who is french and also has a general distain for people, but for some reason he has taken a liking to a few people in our office. Apparently I'm one of them. After my week from hell he asked about me frequently and makes a point now and then to see how I'm doing. There's a get together tonight in JC that both him and I are going to and he made a point to say that he looks forward to seeing me and having a drink.

I guess I'm just suprised that he's been so kind to me. It kinda gives me warm fuzzies.

Norwegian Wood

I just finished the book Norwegian Wood by Murakami. I higly suggest you read this book if you like Hemmingway/Fitzgerald. I'm a huge fan of books/movies that have a sense of longing and sadness through out them. With all books that I love I couldn't put it down and am sad that I've finished it.

Ok this is turning out to be a terrible book review. I think I need time to digest it before I can talk about it.

That being said I now need a new book to read. Suggestions?

It's so over..

Years ago (sigh) when I was in college my roommate and I were heading out to a party and were trying to decide how to transport our alcohol across campus with out getting caught. We decided that tequilia in a apple juice bottle was the best way to go. It looks the same and no one needs more than an apple juice bottle of tequilia. I threw a lime in my pocket for good measure and we were on our way. About half way across campus we decided to start drinking. We were trashed by the time we actually got to the party. The next day I didn't get out of bed- period. For years afterwards I could not even smell shots of tequilia with out feeling barfy. It was at that point I decided me and tequilia were breaking up for good.

Well fast forward to Jessica in her 30's. Like any relationship worth its weight in gold it's never really over. 2 weeks ago I decided me and tequilia should get back together. We first re-connected in my mom's pool in AZ. I then decided to get hot and heavy with it yesterday- Sunday afternoon. After an all you can drink brunch we decided to hit up happy hour for half priced margaritas. Man oh man. Words can not describe how utterly crappy I felt. Which is why I now have deemed me and tequilia over forever. Seriously someone please punch me in the head if I EVER suggest tequilia again.

Some random thoughts from friends re: drinking tequilia on a Sunday:

A haiku:
Passed out drunk at nine
Pre-dawn hangover sets in
Monday spinning? No.

I woke up fully dressed on my bed with the lights on at 3 in the morning..

..another brilliant Sunday afternoon/night.

It scares me

that my gym is stalking me. I haven't been really hardcore work out like I was a few months ago and my gym has noticed. They have called me with increasingly scary messages.

Message from owner: "Hi we've noticed you haven't been using the gym as much this summer, we've missed you."

Message from my trainer: "Hey Jessica. I've missed you. Hoping we can start training again now that fall is here."

This is all code for: "You are going to get your ass kicked for slacking. So we hope you're ready for a few barfy workouts!"

I seriously feel nervous even thinking about it.

I'm not going to lie, I love them. Even in their older, clearly sad, state of being. I just found out they played a concert this morning near my office. I cried silently when I realized I missed it.

Joey is clearly the Justin Timberlake of the group. If anyone is going to bring the sexy back it's Joey. Jordan thinks he is going to bring the sexy back (I can tell it's what he's thinking) but he is so wrong.

Also I would still marry Jon in a heartbeat. I love the quiet dorks.

Donny was wearing sunglasses. I'd like to thank him for that. You can see pictures of him in my previous blogs and sadly (for him) he didn't age so well.

Danny. Eh. He doesn't make me cringe, but I still don't want to make out with him. Unless, I was really drunk and somehow it involved me getting a new dress or something, but I'm pretty sure that falls under the prostitute category. So yeah, no Donny make outs.

Leaving on a jet plane

However I do know when I'll be back again (unlike the song).

I'm leaving first thing tomorrow morning for Fountain Hills, AZ I need to get out of the city, breathe some fresh air, re-center myself, maybe do some art projects with lilho, eat a gas station taco and get family hugs.

I predict this should help immensely.

  • Oh and happy bday Terry. I wish I was there to eat some Ben and Jerry's with you!!

Birthday Cake

Ok I promise my wallowing is ALMOST over. Really though I couldn't let this thing die without posting a picture of the never eaten birthday cake that I slaved over for 3 effing hours.

I mean if he wasn't going to fawn over how amazing it was someone has to. And yes I did eat only one piece. I had to at least know if it was good or not.

Also as a side note:
Yesterday I was on my way to work, kinda crying. So I'm walking towards my building and right past me walks a man dressed as a geisha type person, little platform shoes, hat, full get up but with out any make up and no pretense that he was trying to be a tranny. No one turned a head. At that moment I was in love with New York all over again. Where else can a girl be left alone to cry as a oddly dressed man walks by and no one blinks an eye.

Now that I stopped crying (for the most part) I think I can write about what happened.

Actually I can't. All I can say is he was amazing, but too self centered to see anything other than what he wanted to.

I feel hurt because he made it seem like it was ok to show him my feelings and emotions (which I think we all know I am adverse to doing under any circumstances). And in the end if I would have just kept my distance, like I do with everything, I would have never ended up hurt.

Normally, knowing myself, I'd be a vengful bitch and say a bunch of mean things. But in reality I have no desire to do anything other than sit on my couch and cry.

And if I threw a party

and invited everyone I knew (Mike Visco fill in the rest)..

I'm home from a night out. I'm so thankful (redundant I know) for my girl friends. I can not imagine life with out them. It makes me cry even more to know I have such amazing people who want to give me hugs and get me drunk (which I so am) and share cupcakes with me.
