Dirty on Purpose is the new Bishop Allen

I've discovered this band Dirty on Purpose

I'm now obsessed with them. Sorry Bishop Allen, it had to end at some point.

Also I just returned from vacation. It was awesome and sucked.

I was the victim of a mugging attempt on the subway platform. That was fun. I was totally freaked out. It helped a lot that the construction workers also waiting for the train did nothing to help me. The one good thing that came of it was when I broke down crying at the Jetblue check in counter they held the plane for me and made sure my bags got on the plane too.

It also sucked that my aunt is neurotic and had rules about everything. certain color napkins had to be used. I didn't really obey the rules and it didn't make her happy. Oh well. Also no one was into drinking. Also my ex text messaged me all weekend. Also I got my period. None of that was fun.

What was fun was my 13 yr old cousin thinks I'm fantastic. I knew some day I'd be someone's role model. his mother is a little worried that he chose me to hang out with the whole time.

Seeing all my cousins and their families made me realize that I'm done with the whole single thing. I want a family and a house now with little babies. Also I'm pretty sure I'm over New York and the muggers who live here.

Disclaimer: I may change my mind on all of that tomorrow.

I'm furious

The saga continues:

So as you may have read it was brought to my attention that during the two years of employment at my current company I have yet to be paid over time. So I email a few people and they assure my no worries, it'll all be taken care of. So I'm amiable about the situation, people make mistakes. Granted this is a huge mistake that someone made I'm willing to look at it like "oh well, i'll get a huge paycheck, sweet". So I wait and this is where you read my last journal with the link above. I got 11.6 hours. Well I calculated at least 16.6, not including the past year and a half. So at a MINIMUM I'm supposed to get an additional 5 hours in this weeks paycheck. So when paychecks arrive today I tear mine open to realize that #1- I did not get paid for the 5 hours, not to mention the ton of hours from the past 1.5 years and #2- They just added to 5 hours on to my time worked, like it was on last weeks paycheck. WTF??

I'm fuming. At this point my view is someone majorly f'd up by setting me up wrong in the system. I was ok and willing to let it slide as long as I was compensated and compensated in a timely manner. None of that is happening. Now I'm getting HR involved to get to the bottom of this.

Celebrity look a like

We all know of my celebrity interest (that's code for im a little bit too interested in any thing trashy and celebrity). In any case when I discovered My heritage face recognition

I was sold. What it does is scan your face and then tells you what male and female celebrity you resemble. Now let's face it (no pun intended), this program is 100% useless. Have you ever been like "Gosh I wish my computer would let me know what celebrity I look like because I can't figure it out myself". No. And if you answered yes to that email me because we may be soul mates. In any case I apparently resemble both:

Jessy McCartney/Who I resemble if I was a boy with highlights and looking to be in a boy band

Jessy McCartney/Who I resemble if I was a boy and 14 yrs old and trying to be sexy

Selma Blair/Who I resemble if I was hot and had black hair

Selma Blair with bff Sarah Michelle Gellar/Who I'd resemble if I had a friend who looked like Sarah Michelle Gellar. But I can't stand the 3 name celebrity thing so in reality Id never be friends with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

I have no will power

My office make out partner was in the office yesterday. I had decided that our shenanigans were going to end. However that plan didn't seem to work out quite like I envisioned it. It went something like this:

office boy: so im still slutty and i don't want you to think im a jerk because im not.

moi: blah you're only 10% jerk and 90% irresistible.

office boy: ok so lets meet in the supply room and cop a feel. Ok?

moi: awesome, i'll meet you in there.

us in supply room groping at each other like a bad spanish soap opera.

Putin kissed boy 'like a kitten'

MOSCOW, Russia (Reuters) -- Vladimir Putin's decision to stop a small boy as he walked through the Kremlin and kiss his stomach was prompted by a desire to "touch him like a kitten," the Russian president said on Thursday.

The five-year-old boy, identified as Nikita Konkin by the press, was clearly stunned by the kiss and speculation over Putin's motivation has run wild in the week since it happened.

Curious Internet users propelled the issue to the top of a list of questions put to Putin in an interactive Web cast.

"People came up and I began talking to them, among them this little boy. He seemed to me very independent, sure of himself and at the same time defenseless so to speak, an innocent boy and a very nice little boy," Putin told the Web cast.

"I tell you honestly, I just wanted to touch him like a kitten and that desire of mine ended in that act."

The Izvestia daily, which tracked down Nikita, discovered that he had refused to wash after that kiss.

"I just liked him and he liked me very much. I want to be president myself," the five-year-old told the paper.

Putin was shown by state television chatting to graduates of military academies before he took a walk through one of the Kremlin's courtyards, often full of tourists.

He stopped and spoke to Nikita who turned away shyly. "What is your name?" Putin asked, kneeling down in front of the fair-haired boy and holding him by the waist.

"Nikita," the clearly shocked boy answered, looking from side to side.

Putin then lifted the boy's shirt and kissed him on his stomach. The Russian president then patted the boy on the head and walked off through a crowd of astonished tourists.

I don't know about you but this smells weirdly of child molester to me. I'm getting the shivers just thinking about it.

I'm obsessed with Taylor Hicks

And by obsessed I mean I'm obsessed with how he is now a sex symbol. As I typed that I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Worky work work work work work work

Today is annoying.

First off:
Recently it came to my attention that I should in fact be paid over time. And I should be paid retroactive over time. According to HR I would be recieving this monster repayment of my blood sweat and tears in today's paycheck. So when I checked I was shocked to see only payment for 11.6 hours. What I've worked in recent weeks. Apparently my email was not clear and they only went back a few weeks. WTF? I had to go back to my start date in 2004 and detail every hour worked. This meant going over time in 3 different systems (including one which was just my writing my time down on paper). I was really hoping that I'd get that cash today. Now I wait two more weeks. Damn

Secondly:
We closed out office on Monday. At first you're thinking "wait a minute Jessica, that's not annoying". Well wait there is a caveat. Our office is closed except I have to be here- just in case. Awesome. And just in case I get out early:

Hey, Jess. I know you'll be working but you might be able to get out early enough to come by for another bbq at home. Sorry for the last minute notice but Russ and I just decided to do this. So, if you've got no other plans then I hope you can hang with us. I just talked to Randa and I gave her a voucher so maybe you two can hitch a ride together again.

On a happier note. Do you watch "Run's House" on MTV? No? Dude you are so missing out. First of all anything old school hiphop rocks. Run is like the godfather of old school hiphop. Or maybe he is just to me. So on last night's show his young son is recording an album. So the mom walks in to see how the kids are doing and busts out with a rhyme on the spot. They threw her in the booth to rock out a verse on the song and oh my god. A mom who can rhyme on que? Sign me up for adoption.

Human Kindness

For those of you who know me, I'm not exactly a champion of animal kindness across the globe. I like animals and I don't wish them any harm, and I'm all for animal rights (I was even vegan/vegetarian for a number of years). I just don't get into the whole mush of I heart animals. However recently I've come across a story that warms the heart. I encourage you to read the story of a boy who cared enough to rescue a kitten when everyone else just ignored this animal's suffering.
