rocketry update
When I tell people about it their response is usually cool and reserved, like I'm some retarded boy-man who still eats Flintstones vitamins and has velcro shoes and launches model rockets to the detriment of his social standing.
Except for the dudes in my lab, they all think its awesome. We spent a long time looking/geeking-out at the Estes catalog.
We launched the camera rocket a bunch of times. I still haven't gotten the film developed, but I hope at least one picture comes out good.
It is super fun to launch, kind of like throwing rocks into a lake or river.
If you don't understand why its fun to throw(launch) rocks(rockets) in water(air) then maybe we shouldn't hang out.
I ending up buying another one to build, just so I could up my balsa wood & decal cred.

rocketry
Ships in a bottle and model making are way out of my patience/attention span. RC stuff is cool too, I even had a business idea based on RC helicopters once, but thats too much money and time.
So I settled on model rocketry.
Its so wholesome and evokes such a naive dorky wonderment that its like being a kid again.
The rocket kits are so sandlot. I remember putting them together as a kid: the balsa wood and glue and putting the body tube in a door frame to get a straight line to put the fins on.
So I walked into a hobby shop yesterday and asked for "the rocket with the camera." Now they have a digital version, but I opted for the film one just to keep the feeling authentic. (The film included had a 'process by' date of 2006)
After the guy got if off the shelf I realized it was a ready-to-fly rocket . On one had that kinda sucks because I wanted to glue it together and put the decals on and stuff, but on the other hand that baby is ready to fly right now. The launcher stand and dorky launcher battery pack were also included.
So basically what I'm saying is that on Monday at high noon, that fucker is flying high. The package says 250 ft high.
Theres a little old abandoned air strip across the street from our facility so I figure we can go over there.
This will be the theme song:
Its possible that none of the pictures come out but it should be fun anyways. I bought extra engines and I'm going to keep launching it until ite breaks.

only in America
It felt exceedingly good to run up to the Knife's Edge aka the Hog's Back aka that really big hill up there. I wish there was some more mountainous terrain around here.
found some cans near the car in the woods
The other day I purchased some cereals from Wegmans.
I thought they were just normal shredded wheat knockoffs but they were in fact Maple & Brown Sugar (NaturallyandArtificallyFlavored)
Holy shit they were so mapley they blew my mind. I haven't been able to get enough since.
I'll probably have to stop eating them when I get the diabeetus.
My theory: the extra 0.5oz is super Industrial grade Maple extract. Probably from Canada.

vacation in Indian Summer
So the remaining eight days need to be used before the end of the year.
These are on top of the traditional US holidays plus [A] the first day of hunting season in Michigan (17Nov) and [B] a whole stinking week at Christmas-time.
So I took off nearly every other Friday from now to January, plus many of the Thursdays preceding.
Not to get into a work discussion but instead: WOO how does it feel to have so much free time? It feels great.
It feels great cause its pretty goddamn beautiful out and theres a lot of cool stuff to do when you have a lot of time.
Truly autumn is a bejeweled finger on the freak 6-finger hands of the calendar.
ALSO NOTE, DC & NY PEEPS:
So I know a guy who works for Meneral Gotors and he was saying how there is a mini-fleet of 100 or so fuel-cell vehicles that are out in the field right about now.
NY & DC dudes and dudettes alike can supposedly sign up for a 'test drive' at this here page.
I, I mean, my friend doesn't know any details about this dealy, but maybe it would be cool to hear about.
So you should try it out and then write about it.

litres
A guy I work with was out a few days last week with kidney stones. This prompted us to to look on Wikipedia (they call it Peteypedia at work because I always use it to settle bets) .
So theres a really ugly picture of a kidney stone on the page but the big thing that got me was they say that you should produce 2 to 2.5 liters of urination a day as an indication of a healthy piss system.
So thats like 70+ fluid ounces or more than a rectangular carton of orange juice a day.
I thought about trying to collect and measure my 'throughput' this weekend but then I realized how fucking stupid that was.
Instead, I'm just going to drink a lot of water and hope for no kidney stones. FOR THE NEXT 30 YEARS

let it go
At first it was a little streak of light in the dark but then it hit the windshield and the little dot got a little bigger.
Even though the firefly was at point a gummy mess, it was still glowing. As the glow faded away it occurred to me that it was probably a bad thing to hit a firefly with your truck, maybe like killing a mockingbird or something similar.
So I kind of felt bad and I"ll tell you what firefly, if we ever get reincarnated as the same species I"ll make it up to you. Like say we both are earthworms, one morning I can be the early earthworm (who would invariably get screwed by the early bird.)
I hope you got laid a lot and made lots of other fireflies.
I found this MP3 from our band. It was a rough cut I encoded wrong and forgot I still had it.
It sounds better fast but I wish it had vocals.
Being forgetful and then finding stuff is like winning the stupid lottery, whereas the actual lottery is like paying a stupid tax.
