Gutters on the garage
So (e:paul) and I went to the hardware store got an aluminum gutter, and installed it, all in a few hours. The hardware store was the worst part of it. We ran the hose on top of the garage for a bit and it worked perfectly.
Right now all we have to do is get a water barrel, since there's no good spot to drain in the backyard. I think we can get one from Riverkeeper.

Hunters Creek
We saw the craziest dead tree that was bored by some bug - not an emerald ash though.
On the way home, we stopped at a fancy Ethiopian restaurant in East Aurora. It was way too expensive for what the food was - and not spicy enough. I'd rather go to Lucy's or Gartur's even if they aren't as polished.
Fall color mode. The mountain bike club was clearing the trails that day
My favorite part of exposed shale beds like this is the laser straight lines the fractures in them make. Engineer's dream I guess.

Franklin Street cobblestones
Traffic will slow, it's basically maintenance free, and way more permeable than straight up asphalt. Plus maybe it could make all those parking lots worth enough to build something there.
Of course, cobblestones are terrible for bikes so I think they could make some sort of bike lane with a different material. NYC does granite but I'd even be happy with a strip of asphalt that they left behind.

El Hermano Tiene Tumbao
Yesterday we went down to the Allentown fall fest. They had a petting zoo. The baby goat and alpacas were so cute. I thought it was going to be weird going to the childrens section but the animals more than made up for it.

Fracking for charity
On the other hand, should we feel weird about this? Terry Pegula's money all came from fracking in Pennsylvania which is fucking disgusting. He's choosing to spend it all in Buffalo, and now Ralph Wilson is indirectly spending a bunch more.
I can see it now - a "Burning Tap Water" ward at Children's, pro-fracking cancer research at Roswell. Replanting trees in Buffalo after they've been leveled in the Allegheny.
Pittsburgh and Cleveland had the Carnegies and Rockefellers, I guess we have the Pegulas and we'll all be dirty frackers.

Buffalo bike party
We started off at Colonial Circle and went downtown to Lafayette Square. It looks way good since they stopped having the square there.
After that the ride picked up again and headed up to Resurgence. It really smelled like the Black Rock Canal was farting outside, but no one seemed to notice on the patio. The space itself was really cool though and the beer was good. $6.50 a pop though. The ride kept going to Rohall's but Lloyd's was calling us.
Excited Terry!

Franklin demolition
Supposedly it's going to be redeveloped into a new mixed used building. If it's just a parking lot I'm gonna go fucking insane.

New Tortoise home
I still feel bad for him - he should be in Arizona or something, not a tiny room in Buffalo for eight months. If we find him a new home, we should get a hibernating tortoise. You can put this Greek tortoise in the fridge during the winter and he'll hibernate for months.
If Paul weren't allergic, I'd really want a guinea pig/meerschwienchen! They're so much cuddlier than tortoises.
