the spice girls have reunited
I cannot even begin to tell you why i felt it entirely neccessary to spend five days of serious apartment painting and organizing before i felt somewhat human. I still don't feel entirely human... i think there is still a bit of the beast left inside of me but i'm too damn tired to let it out.
All I have left to do is paint the bathroom. the smallest room of the apartment, though that isn't saying much as my apartment IS rather small. Still i'm avoiding it.
There is still so much to do. So much left to put away. All my pictures and paintings I need to hang. So many clothes I need to put away. I'm not the type of person who could live with boxes laying around for months. I think the older i get, the more OCD i get.
But pulling that damn couch up those tiny stairs was the last straw and now i've put my foot down. I'm relaxing for a couple days dammit.
Oh and I had a second interview for Wireless Zone - an independant wireless retailer for Verizon. They loved me and I'm sure that they will hire me. They apparently are VERY busy. Problem is that it is a thirty minute drive. That only will bother me in the winter, really.
But I have another really juicy and delicious opportunity that requires time, research and patience. I'll have to write about that one another time though. It is deserving of a post in itself and this one is already too long.
I think i'm going to go lay down on my 900 lb couch and watch some free tv.
have i ever mentioned that i love buffalo?

wegmans is my baby daddy
today i moved a 900 lb couch up to my living room. it really is a hideous couch, but i have a bunch of fabric and i'm hoping to transform it as we have transformed this apartment.
seriously though, i think the couch might have caused serious internal injury. We had to take both doors off their hinges and heave. two people at the top, two people at the bottom.
at one point i questioned whether or not i had any ability to go on living. that was about half way up.
at another point i almost passed out.
i also was in the sun all day at a christening for my second cousing. i'm approximately the color of those hideous red curtains that i have found mixed in with the stuff i have moved in.
so now i'm reading about all the (e:strip)pers hanging out at the 24 and i'm wondering how i 'm awake enough to read this, write this, or comprehend any of it, and yet i want to go play.
forgive me (e:society)... i'm almost ready to come out of hiding...
just a little nap first...

meet the griswolds
of course now that i'm thinking about it... i think that the harry potter books might have been delivered by us mail. and of course i have a forward to buffalo, which i am not there till tuesday late evening. which makes me wonder......... did i inadvertantly cheat the system, or was it magic?
no matter, i haven't had time to read it.
i just got back from day one of my family reunion at bear mountain.
already dean has gotten into fights with both my mother and my uncle larry.
also aunt mona and drew have gotten into a fight
grandpap fought with everyone that tried to make him get out of the car at arrival.
and there was a lot of grumbling as a result of 19 rooms being requestqed in 3 cabins that only have 18 rooms. god these folks are crazy.
its coming down to the wire. i have alread said goodbye to so many people and its beginning to get upsetting. oh and already i'm getting requests to stay in new paltz for a few extra days. and pleeeaasssseeee come back for this party on the 4rth...
oh and i still don't have a job.

countdown to acid reflux
tomorrow is my last day at work
tomorrow night is happy hour at oasis for the last time
saturday is harry potter
saturday night is a barbeque at my bosses house
sunday through tuesday morning is family reunion
tuesday is the day i grab my cats and say goodbye to new paltz.
i've been so busy. so very busy. sorry i haven't posted/commented more than flippantly. i'm rather flippant you see.
hey guys, what is this Nova 3C promotions company? They want me to come in for an interview, but if it is going to be annoying telemarketing for pennies crap i don't even want to bother...
i can't wait until the stress levels die and my dry and sarcastic sense of humor comes back.
this little kid just ran out of kb toys yelling,
'dad! brian just called me a retard and that really hurt! it really did! my feelings are hurt'
i don't know why i found that so amusing, but yeah... okay i really got to stop procrastinating...

spoogemonster.
brief updates that none of you care about: my boss is having a barbeque for me next saturday. i cannot tell you how much this makes me happy. it is the greatest feeling int he world to leave a job feeling appreciated.
that being said, i have not heard from ATT/Cingular from my interview on monday. in a recent discussion with me mum, the idea that it might have something to do with my credit score has been brought up. it royally pisses me off that companies are allowed to base employment on credit scores. i mean... how the hell am i supposed to fix my credit if YOU WON'T GIVE ME A JOB? this country is, as far as i'm concerned, fucked. run by banks. do you all realize that the federal reserve is a private institution? money rules everything. grr i can't get into that again, i'll just get even more irritated. for now i'm just going to employ the power of attraction (the secret anybody?) to force them to call and give me a job.
there were other things that i wanted to say but lost ambition somewhere along the way.
except this: explain to me why all of my customers are firmly bunching their panties into knots and shoving them as far up their ass as possible?

brushed nickels
i was going to upload a photo of the kitchen that lauren and i just spent crazy back breaking heat stroke inducing hours painting, but the photo is huge, and this computer is slower than snails racing in the mojave. also this shitty computer chair almost unceremoniously dumped me directly into the shaky computer desk that i'm sitting at. which would have resulted in horrible horrible things.
Missing Image ;(
that should bring up a big fat red X.
i would go ahead and upload it elsewhere and resize it, but that would take most of the morning/afternoon.
the interview went okay - though i was given a phone call as i was pulling into buffalo monday afternoon that it had to be rescheduled for that evening. thus i was unable to do much of the last minute research that i had intentions of doing. it went okay, though he repeatedly asked me about my graphic design and video production background. wasn't i at an interview for cell phone sales?
anyway - hopefully it went well, though i'm really concerned about having an apartment/bills/etc and no job as of yet. i have to keep telling myself it will be okay.
the painting was HELL. hot. i have a hugeeee bruise on my leg from straddling the refridgerator (don't ask). our kitchen now has a new floor, a lovely set of cabinets in the color of 'chocolate sparkle' and the walls are a delightful color that we have deemed to be magical as it shows up grey, blue and green depending on which wall/light/angle you have. we are currently debating on whether or not we should have a brushed nickel color for the hardware on the cabinets or a black. i personally like silver, though after looking at the cabinets i'm unsure.
I have been asked by lauren to inquire as to what everyone thinks is the fastest way from elmwood ave to UB north campus. hmm?
we were leaving last night, passing the bidwell park (is this right?) and saw a gathering. it made me wish i wasn't going back to new paltz. i suddenly realized that it was the first time i'd rather be somewhere else than new paltz and it made me an odd mix of reminiscent/sad/happy/eager/etc.
anyway - thanks for all the well wishing! i need to get some laundry done!

it was the spring chicken salad...
you are within months of being 28. drinking large amounts of alcohol of any type for twelve hours while playing in the hot sun may make you feel like ponce de leon discovering the proverbial fountian, but does not make you feel youthful the next day.
although maybe my next post about the party will have a slightly more enthusiastic review. i'm going to lay down some more now for now.
ps im driving to buffalo tomorrow morning. tuesday morning i have job interview. i return to new paltz tuesday night/weds mornin. how much painting you think we are going to get done?

jello factory
i have lemon drops (lemon jello and vodka and a splash of extra lemon)
strawberry/vodka with little pieces of cut up strawberries in them
blue berry/vodka
pina colada (pinaplle jello with rum and topped with cream of coconut)
rum and coke (black cherry coke with rum and coke and a maraschino cherry inside)
and i think that is it so far... i am officially bringing jello shots to the next level. i thought of halfing oranges and making jello shots inside the halves and then slicing it like an orange... that would be fun too..
anyway... i need to get started on this... times a wasting!

just can't wait to get on the road again
somehow we managed to move the entire truck into the apartment in the matter of about 20 minutes. chalk it up to excellant packing, but wow... it all came together great! my 14 year old nephew carried all the heavy stuff.
(e:chico) - thanks for stopping by and bringing us beer! it was delicious and well needed by the time we got back and sat staring at the mounds and mounds of our belongings in the middle of the living room! it made us feel great!
(e:james) - sorry we didn't call you for the jello wrestling. it was over in an instant. who knew that a forty pound monkey could overpower a full grown goat that quickly?
and then we drove another 6 hours back to new paltz. gone already, i know...
and now it is late and my spinal cord has fused into one large question mark. i finally wrenched my fingers from the steering wheel and i don't think they will ever straighten again. 20 hours of driving in 5 days. my car and my body hates me.
happy fourth of july everyone! i'll be at work tomorrow, resting....
thanks again!

we can't stop till its done.
haven't had a job offer YET but... well she did say she was going to call all of my references... which will amount to glowing recommendations i'm sure...
and i just plugged in my tv and found that i had full basic cable! just no national geographic channel. which makes me a very sad felly.
oh and free internet. i love wireless internet.
who knew?
but i think i'll work on it and try and get them up sooner than that...
Damn, the welcome wagon for me when I moved here was four months of unemployment and the only channel my TV got was PBS. Add a penchant for drinking and BAM! you have a recipe for staying up all night watching Mr. Rodgers half-awake, half-hungover, and half-naked.
Congrats on the job offer. What ever this super delicious, omega-tasty thingie is on your plate, I can't wait to read about it's radicallity.
