1. Advocates of the global warming "theory" bullying and removing funding from scientists who disagree? Yes, according to the Sloan Professor of Atmospheric Science at MIT. Theres even a Buffalo reference in this one -
2. Moussaoui jurors hear Flight 93 tape. I'm conflicted over this one - I wouldn't ever want to hear that thing.
3. That crazy bastard in Iran celebrates his country's barely scratching the surface of harnessing nuclear energy - not that anyone actually believes that his intentions are peaceful. Anyhow, here you go -
4. (Some) illegal immigrants get fired after being issued a verbal and written warning that if they left work to protest that they would be fired. Now they are "fighting for their rights?" WHAT FUCKING RIGHTS might they be referring to? See, this is what upsets me about the illegals right now - the assumption that breaking laws, doing things the wrong way and ignoring clear rules shouldn't go unpunished bedause... well... they feel like it. I have absolutely no sympathy for these people that got fired. Read for yourself then decide -
5. GOP leaders uninterested in making illegal immigrants felons - see, this I can agree with and I think everybody would agree that this makes sense. The immigration issue is a difficult one, but I don't think its practical to a) make these people felons, or b) try to deport them all.
6. RED ALERT - Oprah is okay with being a rich lady!
7. Giuliani victim of a smear movie, Fahrenheit 9/11 style.

1. So much for the "McJob" assertion that many falsely assert is the case in our economy -
2. A student was expelled from a Baptist college in Kentucky for coming out. I'm mixed on this one. I think its wrong to expel a student because of sexual preference, but on the other hand if you enroll at a "holy roller" college and openly proclaim your homosexuality its blatantly obvious that you are going to end up on the losing end, right or wrong. Read the article and judge for yourself -
3. Here's a subject that I'm very tired of hearing about, but I have to mention it. French student protest. I feel very comfortable about my smug laugh over this thing going on in France. That country will never, ever compete on any serious level with the USA economically because of their federally mandated benefits. The government tries to fix the problem with youth unemployment, then in a very typical French manner back down when a bunch of teenagers, who don't know shit about shit, protest en masse. The law has been pulled off the table, yet the protests continue! Fuck France... their citizens deserve what they get.
4. Just another example of a liberal in the classroom polluting the learning environment with political tripe that ends up getting said teacher in boiling hot water.

Jersey, biotch!
(e:jason) - its not your counselors fault that you were late, and justifying your bad behavior by pointing out theirs isn't an excuse either. Just don't be late places... and this goes for everybody, not just poor Jay here. Tardiness is ridiculous.
2006 has turned out thus far to be one of my most reclusive years ever. I've been like J.D. Salinger... without the literary talent. I've been busy though. I actually audited in Buffalo for the first time yesterday - we audited the Olmstead Center for the Visually Impaired. I have to say, they revamped their entire building and its absolutely beautiful. My only problem with the place is that there are very few actual blind people that use the building, and its alleged purpose is to service the visually impaired community. I did get to meet and interview some blind folks though - one lady actually sews vests! Alot of the stories I heard were inspirational, and for me anyhow, its a reminder that I'm lucky. I didn't come from wealth, but I am wealthy in a lot of other ways that some people were not so lucky with. I actually grabbed a donation leaflet and put it in my travel bag because it had an absolutely killer quote in it -
"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly; what is essential is invisible to the eye."
From this point on when I am upset about my job, or upset about whatever... I'll have the leaflet in my bag to remind me of the quote and the workers I met at the Olmstead Center.
Today I led an audit team at a glass manufacturer here in NJ - 2.5 million square feet. Massive facility. Glass making is dirty and dangerous... for the first time I was required to put on some reinforced footwear. For every 3M that I visit, I have a place like this usually. It was cool though - having tons of molten glass a few feet away from you, with open flames burning everywhere is about as close to hell on earth as you can get.

P.S. If you don't care about the Sabres this was likely meaningless to you. All you need to know is that a)Darcy is a guy, and b)he needs to get the bird flu, rot his asshole out and get shot in the same afternoon.

I'm going to touch on the illegal immigration issue also sometime soon... but right now I'm enjoying the day and the cigar far too much to be in a serious mood!

I'm right, once again...
Exhibit A - how liberals handle rallys that they disapprove of -
Lets stop pretending that the left embraces diversity. In particular, I can't stop laughing about how lefties condemn others for being intolerant, then turn around and perpetrate what the politicians and citizens of San Fran just did. Sheer lunacy.
You see, the left embraces diversity as long as its LEFTY diversity. Ban a retired Navy ship from San Fran's port? If you are a San Fran liberal lunatic, this makes a lot of sense, because you generally hate the military and believe to the core of your being that you are superior to those who choose the military path, so therefore this is an acceptable solution. Anti-war rallies, gay rallies? Yep, if you are a lefty in San Fran this is acceptable, as it should be. Christian teens rallying in San Fran? NO - its an "act of provocation." So, insulting the military and Christians at every available opportunity isn't an act of provocation, but Christian kids marching around San Fran is? Bullshit.
What a bunch of foolish, senseless, childish sods that city on the bay is populated with. Except (e:twisted) and (e:ajay) - y'all are good people in my book for sure. Grown men and women calling teenagers "fascists" and holding up signs saying "I moved here to get away from people like you?" What a complete and utter embarrassment to themselves. Its things like this episode that make San Fran an ideological island, and ensure that no liberals will win a national election out of the fear that a Democrat would potentially be influenced by people this clinically insane. When you look at who is funding the Democratic Party nowadays, you should be worried about that. This is also why I fully welcome a Hillary nomination for '08.
Thankfully, the Constitution protects these people from themselves and from others. In Sweden, the country of my family's origin, you aren't so lucky. A minister was jailed there recently for calling homosexuality a sin during a church service! Just one of many reasons why Europe could never be as great as the USA is - in Europe, there ARE limitations to what you can say in public, thanks to liberals and the nanny state. Apparently this is hate speech, but what just happened to those kids in San Fran isn't. Its "hip" to insult Christians nowadays, so feel free to do so. But, when you come to me and cry about people talking about their religious beliefs openly, in groups and in public, if what they have to say offends you, I'm pretty much going to tell you to practice what you preach. Oooh, sizzle! Sizzle!

Doing it for the 'hood
Tonight we're in Greensboro, NC. We're staying at what probably is the nicest Hampton Inn I've ever seen. Its been pretty mundane - I've been doing laundry tonight and not much else. I've been mainly sticking to chicken salads this week but tonight we went to Longhorn for some grilled and seasoned bovine with baked sweet potato. Damn I love Longhorn. I love the roadhouses in general - they actually just opened a Texas Roadhouse off of the 290 Colvin exit in Tizzlewizzle.
I'm home next week, which makes me happy.

WHAT?!
Thanks for posting pictures guys. I'm still embarassed about not making it - but I try to be civil around people I like and respect, and didn't want to barge through the door at 2AM drunk and high yelling "HEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!" I'd rather have us yelling "HEEEEEEYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!" together.
I neglected to mention what car they gave me at the rental agency - a Dodge Grand Caravan. By far the worst car I've ever rented, and we've driven A LOT of cars. I pretty much want to duck and hide every time I have to get behind the wheel. I'd rather pilot your little sister's tricycle before ever renting a Grand Caravan again - thankfully I'm not spending my own money on this! If I was on vacation I'd be totally pissed.
I'm not sure why, but I've been fairly apolitical lately. Maybe I have other things on my mind.
EDIT - I switched my user sound from "Alex Chilton" by The Replacements to "Act of the Apostle" by Belle and Sebastian. I needed something else, something with sleepy sounding vocals and a good melody.

I've been thinking about the lower back tattoo lately; maybe thats because myself and about 15 other guys at the airport were gawking at a girl that was bent over recently. It was so blatant that us fellas were grinning and nodding to each other. Now, I've never shied away from the fact that men are pigs. I like the tattoo. But, for those of you girls who are getting that tattoo "for yourself" - thats like saying you are getting a boob job "for yourself." Don't be so ignorant and naive, and please don't insult anyones intelligence anymore. If you get that tattoo, you are doing so with the expectation in mind that you are going to get gawked at and assumed to give it up without too much effort. Is it fair? No. Lifes not fair. The blonde rapist staying out of jail isn't fair. Lots of things aren't fair. Live with it, or if you don't like guys gawking and daydreaming about using that tattoo as a target, get your erotic tattoo somewhere more private. Its more fun that way anyhow - I'd rather find out that my girl has a wild side privately then have her wild side broadcasted like a billboard on the small of her back.
RED ALERT - I PUT OUT!
Ok. Be good, (e:strip)pers, and look both ways before crossing the street.

Don't you love it when someone sends you something like this?
JUNE
You've got the best personality and are an absolute pleasure to be around. You love to make new friends and be outgoing. You are a great flirt and more than likely have an a very attractive partner. a wicked hottie. It is also more than likely that you have a massive record collection. You have a great choice in films, and may one day become a famous actor/actress yourself - heck, you've got the looks for it!!! IN the next 6 days you will meet someone that may possibly become oneof your closest friends, if you repost this in 5 minutes.
Never mind that this paragraph is stunningly accurate - what bothers me is this crap at the end of the paragraph. Things like this clog internet bandwith like plaque in an artery.
Anyway, (e:peeps), I'm reporting to you tonight from the state of Delaware. I don't mind saying that this place isn't one of my favorites. Today's train ride was cool - almost 4 hours of just relaxing... its rare that I get to do that when I'm on the road for work. We got the car and promptly drove from Baltimore to the hotel. Theoretically I'll be home sometime tomorrow, and I'm very much looking forward to it.

I agree completely. Those who do not understand and abide by the laws of this country should be stripped of their livelihoods and property and sent to where they belong: prison. It is reprehensible that anyone in this country would stoop so low as to knowingly, wittingly, and might I add feloniously, take advantage of illegal immigrants who enjoy no protection of law, for their personal profit. I hold the owner, the manager, and the entire weasely HR department responsible. They should be crucified in town square and the plant burned to the ground.
Fucking ridiculous.

But the thought crosses my mind that if businesses and individuals didn't hire illegal (undocumented) workers, there would be a lot less illegal workers in the U.S.
As long as it is cost-effective to hire illegal workers, the laws of supply and demand will continue to apply.
To my mind it is just as wrong of an American to hire a undocumented Eastern European woman as a nanny or housekeeper as it is for a corporation to hire undocumented Mexicans for meat-packing and poultry processing.
But that is just me. As always, I could be wrong.
