beer and cookies?
today i made cookies AND beer.
And by cookies - i mean sweet bread cakes. since i used wheat flour and applesauce its not very cookie like.
And by beer I mean I brewed a red ale and added butterscotch schnapps. Its called a 'Wee Heavy'. how exciting.
Also ate at Sahara Grill. Food was ok (we tried new things that I couldn't even begin to remember much less pronounce!) but it was cold as hell and they sat us right in front of the big screen tv so we watched the simpsons while we ate.
Now we are going to watch waking life. I hear you need to be stoned to watch this movie.

long gratuitous post.
Today we drove out to Lockport to drop off (e:lauren)'s car at the shop for an inspection. We decided to spend the day off playing. We stopped by my work (on my day off even i can't stay away) and lauren picked out the phone she wants when our sprint contract come up in the middle of the month.
My boss took us out to lunch at Quiznos - which was more than wonderful. Then we drove out to the cemetery in lock port and walked around in search of my uncle ralph. after finding him, we took photos of ralphie on uncle ralphs gravestone. We wandered around quite a bit - and ralphie was ecstatic since we let him be off the leash quite a bit.
Then we drove around, hit a coffee place and then went to Reids - which really is probably the greatest thing in Lockport.
Ralphie got a new sweater today, and I can't wait to take pictures of him in it.
Last night we bottled the Chai beer - not sure if its going to taste too much like chai by the time i'm done. I don't know if that is a good or a bad thing.
Today we received another brew club order, and i'll be making a 'scottish wee heavy' which is an amber ale with malts, brown sugars and butterscotch schnapps. I'm sure it will be amazing. That should be ready right around time for me to take with me to the new years party in Lake George this year.
Tonight we are going to an art opening at Buffalo State.
Opening is from 7 to 10. You should check it out, It looks like it's going to be inspiring.

hobby
Sunday and yesterday evenings I spent painting it. Tonight I was going to find a place for it in my already overcrowded apt, but alas... I have no idea where that would be.
so instead i'm watching obama kick the mac's ass.
A few weeks ago, I came across (e:janelle) at wegmans, around the soda and chips aisle, and, during the course of a brief chat, she helped me realize that i'm ridiculous in terms of needing to have projects to do. As in several. I'm very restless. Maybe I feel as though I need to prove my worth.
So now that halloween is over (and the mask making with it) and I just finished killing off brain cells by inhaling enamel paint with the bookshelf..... i need a new hobby. a new obsession to obsess over.
the documentary thing? screwed over by a faulty codec. fail.
i guess i'll just make more beer.

warning....
unfortunately we only went with two batches of jello - so there isn't as many as last year. But from the couple of gummy worms I ate while making the shots... damn.
And just so you all know... I may be rather crafty and brewing beer and creating jello shots... but I don't drink much. Its more so leftovers from my wild youth.
See ya'll tomorrow!

This brings me to my next point. I'm running out of time for my costume! I have so many intricate parts to fabricate and so little time left! Its scaring me!
Last night we carved pumpkins.Laurens design is pretty sweet. My pumpkin turned out to be way too involved to finish. So I have a pumpkin with no mouth. Now its raining/snowing/sleeting whatever on my pumpkin. I have no time to finish. NO TIME TO FINISH!
ahhhh this is why I shouldn't try and do 8 gazillion things at once!

days off are never easy.
Day off.
Clean: Lauren's bro is coming tonight for a NoFX concert. That includes vacuuming the couch where Lauren and I have using twine for an element of my mask and getting twine particles all over the couch.
Find cheap fabric store. I need like.... 4 yards of muslin for Halloween costume. Also some liquid stitch as I do not own a sewing machine.
Make costume. As in the cloth part of the costume. Do not ask me what I will be. I don't really know.
Work on mask. Maybe hope that somewhere in the next week and 1 day I will finish it. Holy crap I'm running out of time.
make cookies. John from work promised to detail my car. (fancy way of saying he is going to clean it for me). I couldn't let him just detail my car, so I'll bake him cookies. We will see if they last till Saturday when I work in lockport.
try (again) to get the codecs on my video editing software working so i can finally get this documentary working. Bastards.
Find out how to remove the whiny out of Ralph.

Survey and halloween
With food prices skyrocketing, where do you do your grocery shopping?
Do you prefer to shop in one location, or many?
Do you shop at farmers markets? If so, which ones and why?
Is there such a thing as 'whole spice chai'? As in, whole cardamon, cinnamon sticks, ginger, etc in one packet, as opposed to purchasing each separately or purchasing a ground chai spice?
When you think of a Chai Beer, does it make you disgusted or intrigued?
- * * * * * * * * *
I am making my own halloween costume today. Or I guess I should say, I am working on it. I can't tell you what it is, because its a work in progress.
I will tease you with its very beginnings as a cheerio box...
and then after I added an Artvoice and some whole wheat flour.

Hairy naked showering neighbor guy.
seriously... between mid thigh and navel is what we are subjected to. And before any of you get excited and invite yourself over - even I can tell you that if that isn't a cold shower he is taking, he should probably just be a priest.

catacombs
If you may go there, you may not want to read this, as I will be giving away some of the details...
Okay this was a pretty intense haunted house. I'm not one who gets scared very easily - and there were a few times that I jumped. I mostly enjoy other people getting scared. There were a few things that were odd here. There were so many really dark and really confusing mazes.
sometimes there was strobe lights that fucked you up. Sometimes its was black as the blackest night. Sometimes they put strobe lights up, and made all the walls different shades of black, so you think - oh this way looks lighter! but no you are just walking directly into a wall.
There are mirrors that fuck with you too. At one point we couldn't get out of the strobe light filled, different colored wall maze and we couldn't find help and we felt like we were going crazy! When a worker finally emerged, (e:lauren) must have looked like a lunatic running up and asking for help.
Then there was crawling through a wet maze of hanging vines so thick you couldn't see where you were going.
Or, the most disturbing part of the whole thing - was when you came across the outhouse and you looked inside and it was full of poo and you felt revolted, but then they squirt water at you from out of the middle of the poo and then you throw up in your mouth a little.
Very elaborate set, very cool. Definetely worth the $20 a ticket.
Peace my friends.

That is assuming that you have any stomach at all for philosophical discourse. And maybe some patience for some of the more outlandish musings on reality...
Anyway, enjoy!
