Athens Olympics.

It is always great to watch the Olympics opening ceremony. It gives me so much impression that is like I’m holding tears inside of my heart. Yes, it is.. The spirit of the Olympics is the peace for the world and the harmonious world so that the opening ceremony has so much great significance from every single performance. Therefore it is so sad that any US TV channels do not show the opening ceremony. As a result, I had to watch it on the Canada TV channel, but it rather feels me that I'm lucky not to miss the great moment.

I got bitter feelings from one of performance that is about; one runner entered the main stadium and ran towards all marathons final lines that imply all cities where the Olympics were before coming back to hometown in Greece after passing 108 years. The runner suddenly fell down after one final line, at the same time the announcer said, the World war1. Then, the runner started running and suddenly stopped once again, it meant the World War2. I had to put my hand on my mouth because it made me feel cry.

Yes, where did it go..? The peace for the world..? Where did it go..? How is it different from the period of the world war1, 2 and now, 21 century in the World..? Even the US doesn’t show the Olympics opening ceremony. Why..? Because they are shameful about the war, or they are arrogant because they are always on the top of the list? Even Iraq participates in this Olympics, and even South Korea and North Korea entered to the main stadium together with holding hands. Why any national channels don’t show these great moments. I don’t know if any other cable channel showed it or not.

I got some photos from Korean Website. Peace for the World.

Rain..

image

In Korea, we have rainfall season every year on the beginning of July or little later July. It just stays for couple weeks. After rainfall, people start to go to their summer vacation to everywhere in Korea. Korea is a peninsular country so that we have three sides of ocean and a lot of beautiful mountains.

In my girlhood, I was little romantic -well, I think I'm still romantic-. At home, I remember that there were my maid and my younger sisters every rainfall season. My mom was a teacher so was my father. So, we had a maid to take care of us. I don't know why I was so grumpy with her all the time. Every time, when it rained, I went out with a small umbrella and I stepped on every small water halls around our residency community. Of course, all my body got soaked and wet. Nevertheless, I was happy doing that. Then, came home and made house dirty with all water. My maid was mad and yelling at me "Soyeon, cut it out because she had to clean up the house. I liked to make her mad at me. But, I loved doing that. I never got sick from doing that. I was just happy.. Water.. Rain.. Hanging out in raining, although nobody was outside on rainy days.

I often told my friend in Korea, I want to have a coffee and just watch raining with a great music on a rainy day when I grew up enough. That's how I wanted to enjoy rainy days. In rainfall season in Korea, it really rains a lot. really a lot. Sometimes, you can't see anything. One day, I was in my office at work, (it was raining..) one of my junior designer said to me, "let's go have some drinks and Korean style seafood pancake after work, it's raining".. I was looking at her.."What?" and asked her. "Do you usually drink and have seafood pancake on rainy days..?" She said.. "oh no.. That’s the way how to enjoy rainy days, don't you know that?". Yeah, I didn't know that.. She broke my romantic feelings. Get drunk on rainy days.. Hum.. me.. I want to have a hot coffee and listen to a great music and watch raining..

I miss heavy raining now not like Buffalo raining.... and drink a hot coffee with listening a great music......

Another Concert

I went another big concert on Transit Road with Leah and Robin (Leah's friend, not my Robin). Leah's boyfriend, Mike Bouquard was suppose to play their band before big bands start. Well, Mike was very good. I knew that he plays guitars, but didn't know how good he is. But, it was little funny in a way because Mike got shy so that never turned around to audiences.

Well, as I already mentioned that I don't know many indie bands in America because I didn't grow up here. I love music and am always willing to find out good music I like.
So, I forgot the name of bands who played tonight. I remember one.. "The Rapture"
They are so good.. Their music is so cute and rythemical that made me little dance. Before them, actually there was another band, but I don't know the name of band and also I didn't get any impression. And Last band, Mo
something started like that was sooooo good. They are from Scotland. They were amazing. I love them. Seems like I have to buy a lot of CDs. I just bought Sonic Youth today.

It's funny because I never went to concert in Korea. I just went to see opera thingies. Well, since I got here.. how many times.. let me think..
I went to Eric Cripton, Jim Brickman, Sigur Ros (twice), Sonic Youth, this time.. well, I went to a lot of experimental concerts or jazz concerts at Soundlab and Hallwalls. I love music.. Hum..

I had a joke to Leah and Robin while watching another band before big bands. One of bands, there is a skinny asian girl singer. She is so skinny... I told Leah, I want to be like her.. so skinny. Of course, Leah said that I'm crazy. And.. I told her that what is the call of fat stomach in Korea. DDong Bae, which implies Shit Container. So I told her.. I got big shit container.. Leah and Robin got crazy laughing..

Fat Stomach is Shit Container that is called DDong Bae in Korea.

Oh well.

I don't want to check my English spelling or anything right now.. sorry.

Something for some people.

This is Paul about Steve Kurtz.

FBI HARASSMENT OF ARTIST AND SCIENTIST CONTINUES
Kurtz and Ferrell face 20-year charges of mail and wire fraud in federal court arraignment.

Dr. Steven Kurtz, Associate Professor of Art at the University of Buffalo, was arraigned and charged in Federal District Court in Buffalo today on four counts of mail and wire fraud (United States Criminal Code, Title 18, United States Code, Sections 1341 and 1343), which each carry a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.

The defendants were charged not with bioterrorism, the investigative reason that was state on the original FBI subpoenas, but with a glorified version of "petty larceny," in the words of Kurtz attorney Paul Cambria. The laws under which the indictments were obtained are normally used against those defrauding others of money or property, as in telemarketing schemes. Historically, these laws have been used when the government could not prove other criminal charges. (See for background and full text of indictment.

Under the arraignment conditions, Kurtz is subject to travel restrictions, random and scheduled visits from a probation officer, and periodic drug tests.

Well, The trial will be next March as I heard. So, Steve doesn't have any problem to teach in this Fall. And I heard some crazy things. He has to go to FBI office whatever (I'm not sure) every Wednesday. And..he can't get drunk. He can drink, but he can't get drunk.. Isn't this so crazy..?

And,, here the thankyou message to Metalpeter. Well, the photo I got is from Korean funny news blog website. Whenever I find out funny photos, I will post it here. I'm glad that you liked my sister's photo and the funny photo.
