shopping for dummies

So yesterday was our big shopping day.

Started out with a trip to the DMV - which was on 77 Broadway. So I (being the noob of buffalo streets that I am) decided to punch the address into my VZ navigator. It popped up with two address possibilities and i selected the first one - but i realized that one was probably wrong as we started heading south on 190 PAST downtown. turns out that the first address was actually a rural road in Clinton(?). Interesting town. We decided to go with the address even though our gut feelings said NOOO! Eh its only gas right?

So when we got back to buffalo and hit up the DMV - got my registration lickity split (suprise suprise). Then off to an Oil change at sonics.

Then we decided to head up to see what the outlets in the falls were all about. WOW they sucked. They REAAAAALLLY sucked.

Then we hit the summit mall that i remembered going to in my youth. Now here is the funny thing - i sorta remembered that mall sucking when i was a kid - and now it REALLY sucked. And it sucked even more in the fitting room of the bonton when i started crying. but that is another story altogether.

We then hit the boulevard mall and got an eye toy groove game and some underwear. Giving up alltogether we asked the VZ Navigator to kindly direct us to an olive garden. There we waited 65 to 75 minutes (which turned into 50 minutes thankfully) for a table.

A quick stop at Wegmans and we came home. Now tell me how we went shopping all day and only bought a couple underwears and a video game?

I love olive garden. Though of course it will never compare to the real thing...

also - the summit park mall IS a joke. i thought it was closed when we walked in!! and (e:mike), i bet you were sitting in the sunken lily pond. thats probably the only part of the mall that is worth it.

Although when I was in high school that is where al the "Mall Chicks" hung out with their hair that sprayed us into this global warming we have now ;-D

Me and (e:mk) went there a few years ago just to see, and like it was basically a Bonton and a huge DEBS shop, it was so dead that we actually didn't realize it had closed cuz we were sitting in this area with plants and we got locked in and then got in trouble for being in there after it was closed.

I haven't been there in a long time but it is pretty good. If you want to go to a chain that doesn't feel like a chain check out Buca Di Beppo they have large portions that are supposed to be shared and pictures all over the walls it is a pretty cool place. Another interesting place is Tony Romes or is that romeos somthing like that it is named after a frank sintara charater in a movie has a lot of vierty of foods and is coverd in sintara stuff and his music is playing in the background.

exercise? what is that?

(e:lauren) and I started back up with the breakdancing classes last night after a two month vacation. OW! WHen you don't workout (or use any type of physical energy) for two months you really can get sore pretty quickly!

ok so from now on we need to fully practice every Monday and Friday, in addition to classes on Wednesday.

Also I have pulled out the camera for the Eye Toy for playstation 2. I don't care what you say - that sucker is a workout! Also I am getting some protein shake powder stuff and so i can begin having a deliciouis shake for my breakfast everyday. Well I say it is a delicious shake but really i am not looking as forward to it as you may say. I like food. not shakes. whatever.

anyway - i need to get myself moving and off to work...

Last evening I had a get together with a few people from work. The one woman who hosted our little party called it a 'book club without the book' and I think that was the appropriate name for it.

Our gracious hostess made this... pie? It had a crushed almond crust and the filling was coconut and banana. The kicker for the whole thing is that everything in the pie was raw! The whole dish was heathy and DELICIOUS! And (e:lauren) doesn't like coconut so the piece i brought home ig et to eat today!

We had a great time talking about.... all kinds of things.. mostly about coworkers. Including our employee appreciation party....

on the 19th our boss is taking us all (springville, east aurora and lockport) to a Bandits game. We will be having a game room and he is providing food, wine, beer, and tickets. We are all bringing our significant others as well.

So we had a very interesting time discussing how interesting the course of events will be. All three stores meeting eachother (for the first time?). Meeting the significant others of everybody. (everybody meeting my signifigant lauren!)

Oh I can't wait to brave this sea of crazy.

Anyway - I should get ready for work.

Lauren and I are sitting here enjoying some frozen baileys drinks while waiting for the salsa chicken to cook.

what are we going to do on our exciting saturday evening you might ask? eat chicken and play scrabble! i know you are jealous! well... i know that (e:janelle) and (e:drew) are - the scrabble fiends!

tomorrow i'm having an appetizer and wine party at a coworkers house. well it really is just going to be four of us eating, drinking and talking about the end of the world. yeah you heard it right.

smorgasbord of flavor

RETAIL SEASON IS OVER! which means I have no reason left to be dissapeared! I was reminded of this last night I saw (e:drew) and (e:janelle) in the very very cold wegmans's parking lot. Also I told a pastor that I will be on estrip more often - and that means if i don't then i'll have seven years of bad luck.

(e:lauren) and i went to Lake George for several days - HAPPY NEW YEARS! We met up with our friends from back home - about 13 women in a house in the middle of nowhere.

Highlights include - getting tackled off of a stool quite unexpectantly by an agressive friend of mine. (the rug burn i suffered was horrible)

My friend's new puppy. A basset. SO adorable.

Too much champagne. This resulted in
a) sledding off a snowbank at 2 am.
b) having a 10 minute conversation in a completely unknown language with a friend of mine that we both completely understood. The person who was watching us, however.... not so much.
c) a horrid horrid hangover.

The next day I could barely move. We tried to head back to Buffalo but after driving around for an hour realized we couldn't. We got stuck on the side of a mountain for a good 15 minutes too! So back to the house. I was too hungover to spend 5 1/2 hours in the car anyway.

and now here we are. back. in recovery.

the magic of creamed everything.

i started to type this as a comment to my own post, but i think that the review of the magic bullet has to have its own post.

first of all - to address the 'magic bullet' and how it sounds like a sex toy - i just told my friend on the phoen that my parents bought us a magic bullet and she started freaking out on the phone about how disgusting and disturbing that was.

moving along...

i am presently drinking a homemade irish cream icie slushie thingie and wow~! i love me some magic bullet! okay yeah my aunt actually made the irish cream and gave me a jug of it - but the magic bullet combined it with ice into a frozen dream! and now i totally can make said irish cream all by my self!

this morning i made lauren and myself smoothies. i have been dreaming of all sorts of items that i can make with this sucker. i think that somewhere down the line its going to disgusting.... like the moment where i thought outloud 'BEER SLUSHIE!!"

i fully intend on bringing this baby to my new years eve party in Lake George to see what amazingness i can come up with. score.

Grinchy

Yes I have been MIA. I have been working my poor little (big) bum off for millions of christmas shoppers to complain about getting their kids cell phones. It is a stressful time of the year for me, and mostly when i get home i curl up into a ball on the couch and cry. and by cry i mean systematically shred every tiny morsel of value that anything on the boob tube may or may not have. It is my own sort of christmas therapy.

Today is my only day off this week - so Lauren and I are going to go start our christmas shopping. Yes i said "start". we haven't done diddly so far. As it is my list of people to shop for has been edited down to order of importance/need. lauren's brothers and parents, my neices and nephews. everybody else is going to get gifts in jan/feb. Including lauren. and me.

I've been not present for the estrip world, but then i haven't been present for much of the world. work and lauren. that is all i can handle right now.

but the following video cheered me up a bit. Almost as much as 100 greatest songs of the 90s on vh1.
