Baby Oliver
I finally had my very sweet baby boy Sunday march 12th (5 days later than expected). His name is Oliver Richard Keeves and he was 8 lbs 5.5 oz, and 22 inches long at birth. With support of Rich, the UCLA midwives and my doula Katie, I managed to deliver by totally natural childbirth with no epidural or even an IV. Early labor began at about 3:45 am. With all the great support, I stayed to labor at home as long as possible and arrived at the hospital at 11:30 am in active labor. By just shortly after 3 pm I was told it was time to start the pushing phase and Oliver arrived on the scene at 3:18pm. He came out with his hand next to his head and I was told that my pushing phase was uncharacteristically short. Other than his needing a little extra suction after the short transition, there were no complications and he is the picture of a healthy little angel baby. We are home now and doing great adjusting to the new life. Oliver is a lettle cuddle bug and loves to be held. He rarely cries and is now sleeping in periods of 3 to 4 hours (which to a new momma is a lot!) I'll post pics soon!

the peach?
Not to thrilling a result but here it is. (From
(e:robin)'s link)
The Peach
Random Gentle Love Master (RGLMf)
Playful, kind, and well-loved, you are The Peach.
For such a warm-hearted, generous person, you're surprisingly experienced in both love and sex. We credit your spontaneous side; you tend to live in the moment, and you don't get bogged down by inhibitions like most women your age. If you see something wonderful, you confidently embrace it.
Your exact opposite:
The Nymph
Deliberate Brutal Sex Dreamer
You are a fun flirt and an instant sweetheart, but our guess is you're becoming more selective about long-term love. It's getting tougher for you to become permanently attached; and a guy who's in a different place emotionally might misunderstand your early enthusiasm. You can wreck someone simply by enjoying him.
Your ideal mate is adventurous and giving, like you. But not overly intense.

the waiting game
I'm still waiting for baby to arrive, i'm more excited than nervous but I am getting anxious that its now 2 days past the due date. I guess a little late is not that big of a deal in first-time-mama-land but for some reason I had it in my head that baby was going to be early so now I feel like it's really late. I can't wait to meet the little one!

CODYPOMERAY BOOK
Book recommendation for Codypomeray: Emma who saved my life. Why, because I think you'd dig it and at very least it is a quirky funny fiction about 3 close friends in New York that you will likely have an easy time relating to.

snowballs
OK so I live a few blocks from the beach in sunny santa monica. This I love about 11 1/2 months a year. But I'm once again missing Buffalo and the snow and lights that make the holidays festive. This is my first year not coming home for Christmas and I'm wrestling with anti-holiday monsters. With only a long weekend off work I wasn't feeling up for flying home with my big pregnant belly and my achy back. Unable to fit a Christmas tree in our little appartment we have resorted to hanging chili pepper lights on previous years, but now they don't work. The corn palm we decoreated last year is looking a bit to frail these days for any decoration, and finally the lights hung on the palm trees outside by our well-meaning neightbors are really looking... well, like a Floridian retirement village. It just doesn't do it for me. Fortunately we have a little "family" of good friends who will be here for the holidays to throw a dinner party and we can take the few days off work and get ready for our new little one who will be coming in march. So while smelling the salty ocean and missing out on the festivities, at least I can take comfort in knowing that back home you guys are enjoying the piney christmas scent, the crisp snow, the warm fire and no doubt some great holiday cocktails. So if you are out and about some day soon, please throw a snowball for me at your favorite
(e:strip)per and I will be there in spirit.
:) Merry Christmas

baby stuff
Today I went to the OB doc for my second exciting visit. Heard the babys strong little heartbeat through the doppler machine as well as what the doctor siad were kicks. Doc said all is well and baby seems like an active little girl/or guy. I am formally inviting esptippers to participate in a "most interesting baby name contest. " Looking for something original, meaningfully significant and not to difficult to pronounce.

I survived the bachelorette party
... I am still recovering from the ariel maneovers that were um.. performed on me during the bachelorette party but I managed to survive with everything intact. I am very glad that some aspects of the evening have no remaining pictures but those burned into my mind. (for future knocked up brides to be -- it is very weird having a full throttle bachelorette party without the numbing effects of alcohol) Women in southern California rallied, corsets and wigs were donned, men were whipped and made to wear bras, and many innocent non-suspecting bar crawling dudes were lured into treacherous games only creatable in the dirty minds of my lovely Californian girlfriends! Unable to consume mind altering substances I reveled in getting them drunk and out of their minds instead. Fun was had by all and I'm sure our craziness rivaled the bachelor party festivities going on in neighboring lands.
