For your eyes...

The Great Impostor
by Larry Durstin. (Reprinted from the Cleveland, OH Free Times)

Nader's campaign is both dishonest and dishonorable

Anyone who's been closely watching Ralph Nader's self-absorbed campaign realizes that Nader is not a real presidential candidate, nor does he even play one on television. When Nader criticized John Kerry for not effectively appealing to African-Americans, the question that needed to be asked was, "If Nader were actually serious about running for office, why wasn't he himself trying to find a way to appeal to African-Americans?" He's supposed to be a real candidate, so why doesn't he try to get some votes, instead of telling other candidates what they should do?

His smug lecturing rings hollow since, in 2000, Nader got less than one percent of the black vote and has done nothing at all this time to craft a message that might appeal to blacks or any number of groups that may be perceived as being neglected by the major parties.

The national Green Party has totally rejected him, and with good reason. Not only were they furious that he barely mentioned any of their issues during his 2000 campaign ? choosing instead to run on the Big Lie that there is absolutely no difference between Republicans and Democrats -- but in the past four years he has refused to participate in Green Party caucuses, primaries, state conventions or debates. He has barely lifted a finger to help any Green Party candidates or work to advance their progressive causes.

So after getting the boot by the Greens this year, he took his tired act on the road....

Busk speaks.... Why do we listen?

For example, if a school -- a child is trapped in a school for several years that is -- that's not meeting standards, the federal government will pay for after-school tutoring, and the parent can choose all kind of tutoring options, whether they be public or private. One parent -- a parent can send the school -- a child to a different public school. In other words, when -- there has to be accountability in order for a -- I mean, there has to be a consequence in order for an accountability system to work.

-- Bringing crystal clarity to the No Child Left Behind Act, Van Buren, Arkansas, May 11, 2004

I think it's very important for the American President to mean what he says. That's why I understand that the enemy could misread what I say. That's why I try to be as clearly I can.
-- Dubya is as "clearly" as we can hope for, I guess. Washington, D.C., Sep. 23, 2004

I want to thank my friend, Senator Bill Frist, for joining us today. You're doing a heck of a job. You cut your teeth here, right? That's where you started practicing? That's good. He married a Texas girl, I want you to know. Karyn is with us. A West Texas girl, just like me.
-- Dubya the gender bender in an appearance at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, Tennessee, May 27, 2004

The reason I keep insisting that there was a relationship between Iraq and Saddam and al Qaeda, because there was a relationship between Iraq and al Qaeda.
-- Dubya's answer when asked why he insists there was a relationship between Saddam Hussein and al Qaeda when the September 11th Commission says that there wasn't one, Washington, D.C., Jun. 17, 2004

Time to say goodbye...

I have decided over the next few weeks before the election to post things about our wonderful president..

Wrong on Osama

Bush stumbled when he denied making some remarks about Osama bin Laden that Kerry had accurately paraphrased. Bush accused Kerry of "one of those exaggerations."

In fact, Bush said almost exactly what Kerry quoted him as saying. It was in a news conference at the White House on March 13, 2002, after US forces had overturned the Taliban regime in Afghanistan:

Q (March 13, 2002): Mr. President, in your speeches now you rarely talk or mention Osama bin Laden. Why is that? . . .

Bush: So I don't know where he is. You know, I just don't spend that much time on him , Kelly, to be honest with you. . . .

Q: But don't you believe that the threat that bin Laden posed won't truly be eliminated until he is found either dead or alive?

Bush: Well, as I say, we haven't heard much from him. And I wouldn't necessarily say he's at the center of any command structure. And, again, I don't know where he is. I -- I'll repeat what I said. I truly am not that concerned about him. I know he is on the run. I was concerned about him, when he had taken over a country. I was concerned about the fact that he was basically running Afghanistan and calling the shots for the Taliban.

The Real Flip-Flopper.

Bush is against a Homeland Security Department; then he's for it.

Bush opposed an investigation of the attacks of 9/11 - then he supported it, but his administration has done everything it could to obstruct the investigation.

Candidate Bush promised to stop Social Security trust fund raids. The Wall Street Journal reported that Bush uses "all the Social Security surpluses ... to fund the government for the next two years, and to spend well over $100 billion of Social Security funds in each of the following three years."

Bush is against an Iraq WMD investigation; then he's for it.

Bush is against nation building; then he's for it.

Bush is against deficits; then he's for them.

Bush is for free trade; then he's for tariffs on steel; then he's against them again.

Bush is against the U.S. taking a role in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict; then he pushes for a "road map" to peace and a Palestinian state.

When asked about gay marriage, candidate Bush said, "The states can do what they want to do." Now President Bush wants a Constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage.

Bush said he would veto the McCain-Feingold campaign finance reform legislation, then flip-flopped and signed it.

Bush first says he'll provide money for first responders (fire, police and emergency), then he doesn't.

Bush first says that "help is on the way" to the military ... then he cuts benefits

Bush first says, "The most important thing is for us to find Osama bin Laden." Then he later says, "I don't know where he is. I have no idea, and I really don't care."

Candidate Bush claimed to be in favor of the environment, and would regulate carbon dioxide emissions. Less that two months in office, President Bush flip-flopped, and said his administration would not impose mandatory emissions reductions for carbon dioxide on the nation's power plants.

Bush talks about helping education and increases mandates while cutting funding.

Bush says negotiating with North Korea was a failed Clinton tactic. Bush then begins negotiating with North Korea.

Bush said he would demand a U.N. Security Council vote on whether to sanction military action against Iraq. Later Bush announced he would not call for a vote

Bush said the "Mission Accomplished" banner, was put up by the sailors. Bush later admits it was his advance team.

Bush was for fingerprinting and photographing Mexicans who enter the U.S. After meeting with Mexico's President Fox, Bush now says he's against it.

During an unsuccessful run for Congress in 1978, Bush opposed the pro-life amendment and favored leaving the abortion question to a woman and her doctor. Then, like his father before him, he customized his beliefs to become more electable to conservatives.

Alittle farther down elmwood....

Live From Kenmore..

Well, I think I might make an effort to write more in my journal. Life seems to have been at a stand still for the last 6 months. I feel like I do the same thing everyday, and its starting to become really annoying. I need to take on a hobby or something, but I am too lazy. I also need to start working out, getting closer to 30 makes it even more imperative.

Next month my significant other will be away for 10 days, it will be the first time in almost 4 years that we have been apart for more then 48hours.. How fucked up is that? Boy do I need a life... :)

Danger!!

Well its been a few weeks and I havent written about my new baby. The Danger Sidekick II. For those who know me and (e:paul) had Danger Color Sidekicks, (e:paul) had his first and I got mine a few months ago. Well a newer version came out and I jumped to be one of the first to get it. Of all the phone I have owned I have never used any of them as much as I do my Sidekick. And the new Sidekick II is even better then the last. Slimmer, and with an intergrated camera, its taken care of all the issues one might have had with the original. Better battery life, better reception, and a speakerphone all make for the best little device in the world :).

Its hands down the best for quick email/AIM/YIM and web browsing. Soon I will start taking more pictures on the go so I can post on here...
