The 12 bug

There was this ridiculous oversight bug where every year's december blogs were not showing up when you clicked the date cloud for 12/any year. Turns out $date < 12 doesn't leave any love for december oops. Thanks for catching it (e:tinypliny).

oops sorry about the outage

I was updating the server last night and copied some files over from the dev site which prohibited access from off my network. I didn't realize because I was on the network. Everything is good now.

Time Warner - Mail merge gone bad

A couple months back I switched the server to time warner to try and consolidate my internet access costs.

The account is registered under Elmwoodstrip.org as it is a business account. Today I got an email that started out like this:

Dear Dear rg Elmwood Strip.o,

Clearly the name was subjected to some Last Name, First Name Middle initial routine that really chopped it up. Its funny because the company names was listed as company and the same email also has my real name.

Server Maintenance?

The sprinkler got left on. The basement filled up with water. Luckily I have the server 6 ft up. Right now I can't even get to it without mopping up water.

New estrip themes

There are four new estrip styles. I will make more when I have some time. You can select them from the front page. My favorite one is called plant. It makes me think its really summer despite the weather.

Internet Issue?

Weird, our internet went down for like 20 minutes. Well not all connectivity - but all domain resolution on each computer at once. They are all trusting the router, which in turn uses time warner's DNS. Then it suddenly came back up. The weird thing is amazon and buffalo rising worked the whole time.

Primary DNS Server: 24.92.226.11
Secondary DNS Server: 24.92.226.12

Maybe I should switch back to opendns.

Server in a new home

The tortoise room closet was just too warm so the server has moved to the dungeon. Its a little bit dank but dry and cold. Considering the ld server survived the artvoice basement's water and plague of bugs that lived in it, I don't have much fear.

New server room

The only problem might be temperature in that small space. I might need to move it to the attic.
