More Viking Lobster Company

I went back on Saturday, this time with (e:yesthatcasey). We got the ultimate Viking feast which included all the sea favorites from last time plus ribs and chicken. To be honest I was starving but the addition of ribs and chicken was overkill.

Last night I took the leftovers and made a fish soup. Tomatoes, wine, oregano, olive oil, snow peas, parsley, garlic, shallots.

We just had normal size lobsters but they were offering a $99 5 lb lobster. The couple near us got it. It was enormous. I looked online and it appears the largest ever caught was around 40 lbs. That seems terrifying.

It's my Friday

In the last three years of work I have taken on exponentially more responsibility and put in so much time but it seems like my career is stuck in a rut because of the structure of my department. I'm not sure what the answer is but I sure see there is a ton more money to be made because I see people around me making it. Today while sitting inside working into the 50th hour of my four day work week, I started to wonder what the whole point of working hard in a union environment is?

Maybe I shouldn't be so fließig, if only I wasn't so hopelessly addicted to problem solving and didn't actually love the work I do.

Unrelated iTunes U seems pretty cool on the ipad. I'm trying to sit through a statistics course right now.

Unrelated ios6 finally let's you upload media in the freakin browser like very mobile device I had since 2003. Even my old Nokia candy bar phone could do it. now the ipad can too.

Cedar Point 2012

We hit up cedar point today. Its a long freaking ride from home. I am still in line for a haunted house which just had a fore alaram that caused an evacuation of the facility. At this rate I have no idea how we will make it back in time. Ironically I have a bizillion hours I can take off of work but I have a massive project test Thurs morning which requires a significant amount more testing and deployment work. argh

Yum Squash and IPad Cameras

I am obsessed with all the different kinds of squash now. This is the butternut squash. I used to just eat acorn squash but then I started branching out. today at the farmers market I got one called delicata. Last year I tried and like blue Hubbard. They were also pretty amazing but they are too big for me to consume alone.

Change the default app to open text files with in fedora 17

Since I installed monodevelop for a work project I was working on a few months back I have been stuck with this situation in which all text documents would start monodevelop as the default app when I clicked on them.

Each time it would happen, I figured I should look into how I set the default app for the various mime types and then I would put it off. Today I had a spare 5 minutes so I just grepped for monodevelop in my home directory figuring the settings had to be there as they weren't for every other user account. Turns out the settings are in ~/.local/share/applications/mimeapps.list

Each mime type is mapped to a .desktop file that describes what to do when the file is opened.

I switched text/plain=monodevelop.desktop to text/plain=gedit.desktop and I was good to go.

Last day at Nonnas

At least I hope so. Its finally up for sale and the realtor seems to think it will go quick. I am ready to close that part of my life. The lawn got so long that snakes started growing in it. There were two of them. I thought the first one was tiny but then (e:terry) found the tiniest baby one.

Its so crazy because for years the grass would never grow because it was mowed too much and became a muddy weedy mess. Now its thick and when it was cut it actually looked good.

Outer Harbor - Dug's Dive now open year round.

As (e:terry,56828) mentioned we hit up the outer harbor yesterday during the brief beautiful weather period. I had never been out to the lighthouse before. Reading all of the historical pkacard s was interesting. Seems like the area had a very crazy past as the water tore through just about everything they built to protect the city from water.

It was cool to see Dug's dive is now open year round.
