Madame Bliss at the Waiting Room

On Thursday night, (e:joe) and I headed over to the Waiting Room to see Madame Bliss. There was a lot of dance space which made it pretty fun. I felt bad for the girl that won the 50/50 raffle as I think she also bought all the tickets.

We tried hula hopping. We were not good.

Dawn of the Plurbotz

Had a fun night visiting (e:uchina) in Rochester and raving it up outside. I really didn't expect to dance outside but they had massive space heater so it was pretty warm. I just wish there wasn't so much cigarette smoke. With the party being mostly outdoors, everyone smoked cigarettes which made the air pretty gross for dancing. It makes me crazy watching young people smoke when it seems so totally obvious that it causes cancer.

I also wish the hullahoop bitches would all die. I know that sounds kind of harsh but I am so sick of some slutty skinny chick stealing the whole freakin' danceful while she swings a giant hullahoop around. Its fine at most events where there is space but when space is extremely tight, have some common decency and don't take up 1/3 of the dance floor with your freaking basic bitch hoop skills. I kept invisioning using the hukahoops to strangle them to death.

Other than that it was amazing time.

Igloo New Years Eve Dance Party

When we first got ahold of the information line and heard it was in a warehouse over on Adams st in far east side I wasn't too excited but after a taxi fiasco we safely made it there for an evening of dancing excitement and relevry.

The venue was actually really massive with two floors of DJs that were insulated enough from each other that you couldn't hear one from the other.

Even though it was packed there was enough space to dance. We got home around 7am. I was so tired at that point.

Met a bunch of random strangers and had some of the most hillarious conversations. It was a pretty great start to 2015.

Funky Monkey

We hit up funky Monkey last night after watching (e:terry) play Dragon Age Inquisition for about 15 hours. Had a big group hug out on the back patio with rat boy in the middle. I kind of wish we started the night a bit earlier.

Total Request Rave 9

We went to Nocturnal Commission's Total Request Rave 9 at the Opera House in Toronto on Saturday Night.

image

(e:Terry)'s friend from High School was DJing as the super half of superjack at the party which made it extra exciting. Its been many years since I saw a truly happy hardcore event of that magnitude go off.

We dance until the early hours of the morning and then slept at the hotel until just before we had to leave.

The Night Before Thanksgiving

We hung out with Jeremy and decided to exercise a lot by walking around town to dance events. The night before thanksgiving is a huge party night because so many people don't have to work in the morning.

First we went to Skateland on East Ferry for a techno skate party. The ring was pretty cool but the wood track was much less upkept than rainbow rink. The layout was nice. They had an adult ring and a kids ring with a concession area in between.

Based on the thousands of pictures on the wall, spanning the last 4 decades, I think we may have been among some of the only white people to ever set foot inside this place. That is if I even count (e:paul,46788). I couldn't decide if that made it progressive or if it was some sort of gentrification issue because it didn't appear to be a blending of new people in an existing space with the existing crowd but more of a complete takeover.

Generally, I enjoyed it until the end when I saw some women go up to the door man to say what a great time they had.

He started to tell a story about how he was the bodyguard for Luther Vandross until Luther told him he wanted to become a woman and then he went onto this tirade about how god wanted him to be a man not a woman and how terrible queer people are.

It was definately the wrong crowd for that. The women started arguing with him about how love is love.

He said he doesn't understand why we can't just put them gays on an island somewhere so they wouldn't bother him and could keep to themselves. At that point I decided he was not worth my time to argue with him and how this idea of geographical boundaries for different groups of people would allow me to leave the metaphorical island I was on and cross main street river where I wouldn't even have to recognize that people like him exist.

The last thing I heard him say as I was leaving was how two gay men are like two dogs fighting but two lesbians are like two kittens fighting over a rose on a silk blanket. Whatever the fuck that means. Straight men's acceptance of lesbians as some sort of straight man sexual fantasy confuses me so much.

After that we walked home to wash our feet because the skates stank so bad, they don't even spray them. Then we walked to Milkies on elmwood and Utica for a dance party. Most of the music was great and the wooden dance floor is pretty cool, we danced till about 3am when the music turned into a combo of dubstep and death metal.

My only reservation with Milkies is that place makes me mega allergic. I think it's once people start dancing on the carpet it releases the dust and mold spores from all the spilled drinks. At least that is my theory. Maybe just a lot of cat hair people showed up. It got so bad I needed an inhaler by the next morning.

Afterwards we hit up Lloyd and I had the big Lloyds burrito. It tastes so damn good. At least it did at the moment. It's basically a beef burrito with pickles, onions and a sauce that tastes very much like whatever they put on a big mac.

Rave Long And Prosper

We went to a really fun star trek themed happy hardcore rave in Rochester. We met a lot of awesome people. I even found some people that also played secondlife. The after party was pretty fun too but now I am exhausted.

My ftied Greg took this video. He is the guy with the TV head.

Electronic Odyssey at Willow Creek Winery

We went to Electronic Odyssey at Willow Creek Winery this weekend

It was so boring. The music was mostly uninspiring remixes of the Harlem Shake interspersed with Jam bands. There were a couple short exceptions including an interesting performance of a guy playing drums to techno music but nothing to keep the truly keep the lebensmüdigkeit at bay.

The parts of the songs that used to break into inspiring high energy crescendos now stop and wobble into super slow breakdowns. People dance to these parts as though they were dropped into a vat of jello after having their spinal chord stepped on by a larger animal. The tempo is probably to make it easy to dance to for all the people mixing transquillers and beer.

Maybe its just what you get when you mix reservation cigarette smoking+wt+farmer+pot head+bro+discusting lake water+grocery stores lacking vegtables+dead head+long term, maybe even fetal, ketamine exposure.

On a positive note, the food was really good. I had a half a BBQ rubbed chicken and an excellent blackened shrimp taco.

Noise Controllers At Firestone In Tampa

On Thursday night (e:yesthatcasey) and I went dancing at Firestone in Tampa. The DJ was Noise Controllers and it was insane. The crowd was nuts and the music was so hardcore. I literally danced the entire night.

I also liked the DJ in the side room.
