These Days

My bike is at Campus Wheelworks being doctored up. My baby! I have had it since I was 12, but i bought it used. The guy at the shop said it could have been made in the early 80's. It's a road bike which is a rare breed now a days. If someone stole it from me or it got ruined for some reason it would be so tragic. I don't want another one, I think I could use this one till I die. Hopefully I won't die on it.

I think i'm gonna go back to library downtown again quick. Need more movies. Returning my all time favorite singer, Celia Cruz. Must get more Celia! ¡Azucar! Also gotta hit Latina for some groceries. That place is so fun. Vegetables are stank, but always interesting things going on. I think they are cheaper than Wegmans. Luckily we got Guercio just around the corner for veggies, they have excellent prices.

My bike gets out of surgery on Sunday. Who wants to go for a ride?

My Buddy

I wanted to have My Buddy so bad when I was a child. My parents wouldn't let me have one. It would be too faggotty for a boy to have a doll. I never got one, but now that I'm looking at them outside of the magical comercials I saw as a kid, I have decided it is way too freaky.

Parking Tickets

GRRRRR!!! I got a parking ticket! I live right on the Elmwood Strip (I Park on a side street) so I do believe that I am in the heaviest ticketed area of Buffalo. God, if I just had $30 for every parking ticket I have gotten in my life. Yesterday I was getting ready to go see Poseidon with (e:mike) and (e:jill). Very entertaining I would say. Anyways, my alarm goes off at 5:30 to remind me to move my car. I shut it off and finish getting ready thinking I would move it in a few minutes. I realized at 6:45 that I forgot to move my car. At 6:47 I was looking at the parking ticket I got at 6:44. GRRRRR!!!!

I'm pleading not guilty. The cars are supposed to switch sides at 6pm two times a week. We should have at least an hour before or after six to move our cars. I suppose if they wanted to do street cleaning they could do it at any other time during the week. The cops are being stupid thinking that if they write more tickets they will get what they want. They should write NO tickets and then every freakin politician from city hall will be all over them giving them what they want, kissing their hot tight asses.

Oh, I decided to get a masters in ranting.

My summer time employment demands

I need a job pronto. Will also work for a forty ounce, but I am negotiable. Seriously, like it would be nice to
make like at least $10/hr. Temp work, whatever. Give me money and lots of it. I also would like the hours of between 9-3 m-f and maybe odd jobs at other times. I would even consider house cleaning, cause even though my house gets messy, I'm a damn good cleaner. I want to use the cleaners I want to use, I don't like using vinegar. If you want to use earthy products that's cool. Yes, vinegar is earthy, but it smells funny. Would also be great at pet sitting, yard mowing, bush wackin and things not involving ladders over three steps. I can do indoor painting as long as you don't have existing lead paint. Don't be bossy, ask me "Libertad, would you do this for me?" I almost always say yes. Money talks. I'm very trustworthy and have the references to back that up. I usually never call in, but if I do then its none of your business. Tips of course are always welcome. I wouldn't mind getting paid in services either, like I'll clean your basement (maybe) if you clean my teeth. I'll clean your house for an hour if you give me an hour long massage (nothing kinky, I prefer professionals). I clean fish tanks and swimming pools (maybe clogged gutters depending on the height). My experience includes:

3-5 years of customer service. (inbound telephone, I will not do outbound unless they are already a customer) I'm good at this i can even get total bitches to chill out.

2-4 years of retail--especially
knowledgeable in pet products

3-4 years of barista experience
Spot, Cafe Aroma and Starbucks out of the question for varying reasons. Spot is OK, but I don't want to work there, I would rather go there.

I'm also educated, so give me lots of money.

There are other places especially nasty corporations like Walmart or PETsMART that can go to hell. You must make decisions that I feel aren't damaging America or any region of the world for that matter. Monopolistic type companies, such as, ATT and Adelphia, PETsMART included are particularly despised. We are all human beings and all need to be treated with respect. Every human being deserves basic rights and corporations that interfere with these rights are evil.

These are my demands for summer time employment. I can change my demands at any time I feel is necessary. Oh and I will need days off, but I can be rather flexible.

If you know of any job that fits my demands, let me know.

Libertad

Hostel

image

So I just saw Hostel, cause I saw it out on DVD and had wanted to see it. I knew what it was about before, and for some reason I thought that I would enjoy it. I'm a little disturbed now that I had the desire to see it. Why would I want to watch torture? That's disgusting. I never ever want to see something like that again. Maybe the movie wasn't that far fetched though. There are really sick and creepy people out there.

By the way, anyone see the complete set of Abu Ghraib torture photos on Salon.com?

Cinco de Mayo

image

Benito Juárez (1806-1872)
President of México, key player in "La Reforma" (The reform)

So I was thinking about Cinco de Mayo and really I didn't know what it was all about. If anyone else cares and doesn't know already, I thought I would share what I learned. Mexican Independence is celebrated on the 15th and 16th of September, not on Cinco de Mayo.

Juárez pissed off a lot of important people. He told the Church that they would have to sell their large land holdings, or haciendas. He also subjected the church and the militarists to civil jurisdiction. These reforms were incorporated into a new constitution in 1857. The conservatives and the church reacted violently and La Guerra de la reforma (Reform War) ensued, lasting three years (1858-1861).

Juárez and the reformists were triumphant over the conservatives. Problem was the country was devastated because of the US invasion of México that ended in 1848, and the Guerra de la reforma that ended in 1861.

Benito Juárez was forced to suspend the payments that México was paying for its debt owed to France, Spain and England. The three countries used this as a pretext to invade. Spain and England bailed out leaving France alone in the invasion. Napoleon III of France had the intentions of halting the growth of the United States, which had just greatly expanded its territories in their own invasion of México. The goal of Napoleon III was to aid the Confederates thus splitting the United States into two less threatening nations. Abraham Lincoln had intended to defeat the Confederacy and then go to aid Juárez in defeating the French.

Ok. Back to Cinco de Mayo. The French invaded Puebla, México on the morning of the 5th of May, 1862 with an army of 6,000. Puebla is about a 100 miles from México City. General Ignacio Zaragoza was ordered to defend Puebla, and thus México city, with a army of 4,000 and inferior weapons. Skilled in the art of guerrilla warfare he sent the pansy french running to the coast. Although the French didn't officially withdraw from the country until 1867, Cinco de Mayo has been a great source of Mexican pride ever since.

Nancy Grace

image

Imagine the possibilities of a video game where the main character is Nancy Grace. Instead of the usual weaponry, acid vomit spews from her mouth killing Scott Peterson, child molesters and rapists. Score extra points for finding semen stained underwear and spewing more bile on viewers watching from home.

Mooo

So this is the best milk i have ever had. It couldn't be better than if it came right from the utter. Seriously, milk drinkers need to go to Lexington Co-Op to get it. The deposit is .50 cents and when you bring the glass jar back they refund it. I made chocolate puddin with this and you couldn't imagine how tasty it was. The cows aren't given rbST.

  • DISCLAIMER* There is no significant difference between milk coming from cows treated with RBST and those who haven't been treated.

I don't want to piss off the milk industry. Wouldn't it be awesome if there still were milk men that would deliver this to our doors?

A Day Without Immigrants

Maybe the immigrants are better "Americans" than we are? Their protest has captured the attention of CNN which I find rather unusual. Since when does CNN cover demonstrations? Way to go immigrants! ¡Latinos Unidos! I admire your ability to be heard.
