I would totally put my feet out the window. It is so liberating.
Mike, how would you know if you can't stand it or not unless you try it. I say just do it for 1 minute and replicate 100x times at least. Record how many times you felt gross, how many times you felt okay and how many times you felt completely disgusted. Now repeat the experimental setup for 3 minutes, 5 minutes and fall back to 2 minutes. In the last experiment record feelings of loss (like how much of a loss you felt now that you could only put it out 2 min and not 5 min on a scale of -10 through 10. -10 would mean: "It was not a loss. It was a gain, dummy."(I am pretty sure that would be a 10 for me, for sure but you have to be honest. I am not influencing your answer here.)
And oh, and just record everything on a CSV file and email it to me. I will do some pretty graphs and assess your true feelings of contentment or discontent ... and maybe publish it in PNAS. Don't worry about attribution. I promise to acknowledge you and David in gushing words.
