Basra Eats and Some Other Stuff

Basra loves the occasional snack plum or fruit. Usually he just eats greens so he gets really excited.

About 4 years we made soap. (e:matthew) claims he was not present. Somehow his effigy made it into this soap. You can clearly see his penis floating above us, lol.
image

I cut my hair off. Before I also cut my beard I looked like a terrorist.

On the not so tasty front, (e:enknot) found this bird on Main Street the other day. I couldn't not take a picture.

Last week Nameless Bitch arrived and found an apartment over on Minnesota.

I am (an) Italian

Well just about everybody knows that that is what I am ethnically but soon enough I will be able to really say I am an an Italian when I reclaim my citizenship. I finally got all the paperwork I needed - really in order. I guess it would be cooler if I could say it in Italian - I think it would be "Sono un italiano"

The next step is dragging myself and my stuff to the consulate in New York City and probably dragging my mother and maybe brother along with me. I suggested we take (e:mike) to and make it a Mom and me trip, lol. I wonder if there is a consolute in Toronto I could go to considering I am applying to reclaim my Italian citizenship which has little to do with America. Seems like it should not matter where the consulate is.

I am kind of excited and a little be apprehensive because it opens up so many possibilities as a world citizen.

Summer in the City

We went to Summer in the City gay pride festival at Lasalle park today. It was a fundraiser for the ride center but we got free tickets from our new roommate. I guess it is an offshoot project from the old Pride at the Pier festival. We saw lady bunny She was really funny in a I was really drunk and she was really a really raunchy comedian kind of way.

image
Nameless Bitch and (e:jim) and (e:james) went with us and a good time was had by all. I think the free beer from 2-5PM helped making it extra fun. I saw Chris Parada and Angelo Cicatello and we reminisced about the gay old days in boy scouts troop 225. Apparently, it was way gayer than I thought.

image

I also realized I met (e:james) once a long time ago. I think (e:flacidness) is the only one who would remember this.

I love (e:jim) and (e:james) they restore my faith in having friends.

Bad Experience at Cozumel on Elmwood

On friday August 24th at around 9PM four of us went to Cozumel at 153 Elmwood Avenue in the Allentown area of Buffalo, NY in order to get nachos($10) and rock shrimp ($12) along with some frosty mixed drinks. Generally this ends up costing around $60+ for 4 people because the appetizers are expensive as are the drinks. The outdoor bar was packed with people so we went inside to site and they seated us.

When we went to order our blond waitress went and spoke with the ugly brown haired one and then came back and she they refused to serve us at a table if we didn't order dinners. She said we could only order appetizers at the bar which is complete bullshit as we have eaten appetizers and ordered drinks there many times sitting at a booth. There were about 8 empty tables so it's not like we were taking up space. She was just being a lazy bitch.

It will be a while before I ever go back there which is their loss because I have spent a lot of money there in the past. (e:terry) said he overheard the one waitress saying she didn't feel like serving anymore that night.

The rest of the evening
Then we headed over to Couter Bay where a bunch of epeeps were hanging out (e:jim,40718) Got to meet (e:drew) (who looks and is much younger than in his pic) and (e:janelle) (his lovely wife) and hang with (e:jim) , (e:james) , (e:jbeatty) , (e:fellyconnelly) and (e:lauren) . It was a great evening. Afterwards, we headed over to Frizzys to meet up with (e:mike) , (e:beast) and (e:maureen) then over to Cathode Ray where I saw Brian and we got our picture taken by the Buffalo Barfly photographer. Then off to Roxy's where we danced for the first time in a long time. It was nice to see (e:jim) dance and be happy like myself. Holy crap I accidently typed mysql the first time I was typing mysql, lol. I'm bringing dorky back.

Billy And I

At work today my new dream server came in. Actually it isn't that much different than th estrip server - a dual core, dual processor 2.6ghz HP. I am seriously in love with CentOS. Whoever, it was that suggested it to me, (e:ajay) or maybe (e:uncutsaniflush) - thank you.

image

This marks huge shift for the Roswell web team as up until I got here it was all windows server 2003 and ASP. Somehow, I convinced everyone that PHP and linux servers is the way to go. I am so glad this is happening.

Virtual Dream Machines
I have Centos 5 running in a virtual machine on my Macbook using vmware fusion I was running virtual machnes with Parallels before but vmware fusion is definately much smoother and less resource intensive.

Virtual machines are the freakin' coolest thing ever. I assume that (e:uncutsaniflush) must be going crazy now that he can install even more linuxes on virtual machines. Before I let (e:enknot) use the vaio I had suse running centos, ubuntu and windows in a virtual machine. Do you have a machine running every linux flavor yet, lol?

Anyhow having a duplicate test server on my laptop is amazing. It lets you have the freedom to play around with the exact same server without the worries associated with braking a live server or the cost associated with having a physical test server. PLus, just like everything computer, you can save sattes and undo whatever you did to the guest OS by saving snapshots or backing up you virtual machine to disk or dvd.

It is so convenient too. I can for example drag and drop and shared clipboard between it and my host OS X installation. I couldn't have really imagined it would be this great before, even though I had used virtual PC way back in 1999 with red hat on my blueberry ibook, it wasn't nearly the same as the experience I am having on my 4GB macbook pro now, lol.

Who would have thought I would ever be running osx, windows, and linux all at the same freakin time and be able to integrate them seamlessly. It makes the whole operating system seem so meaningless. Really you should easily be able to run OS x in a virtual machine but apple is against it so there are all kinds of hindrances.

Medina Deli On Main Street in Buffalo

I was so excited to see the old falling down gas station looking place on the corner of North and Main street turn into a restaurant. When I saw all the Arab men working on it throughout the last couple months I was excited for some middle eastern cuisine (e:paul,40180) in the neighborhood but then we got Yet Another Pizza Place.

image

What was the Media Deli thinking. I went in there the other day and ate some delicious cheesecake for $1.65 but other than that the food is so any pizza place.

image

I mean I haven't tasted the pizza or wings but that the same exact food is attainable at the Anchor Bar and directly across the other street at the North Street Subway shop - not to mention Just Pizza right down North Street and Jim's Steakout on Allen and Destiny Pizza only two block downtown on Main Street.

I wonder if they picked American food with the hope of appealing to Americans when I think, in reality, they would make more money not serving ethnic food with a name like Medina Deli.

It is especially weird because buffalo doesn't seem to really have an Arab fast food place. Every other big east coast city seems to have lots of Arab food, not to mention Europe. I think when I was in Germany I ate ore Turkish food than German food, lol.

Well, I hope they change before they end up closing or that a lot of people decide they need their pizza.

Side notes - At Destiny Pizza they carry Crystal Beach Loganberry. I used to love Loganbery at Crystal Beach I wonder if it is the same
image

Why is here still this dead zone on Main Street right next to the Buffalo Niagara Medical Complex. Everything else there seems to be doing so good and it just seems desolate. Is this building full of asbestos or something? At one point I heard a rumor that the tapestry High School was buying it?

This morning had some serious thunder storms, just look at those storm clouds.

Listen to this weird phone call I got

I got some calls from some crazy girl today. It was a restricted number which I usually don't answer but my parents number is now restricted so every once in a while I pick up. Well, that is the end of that.

At first she was all, you know who I am right. Seriously, I have no idea. Then she was all, "Are you gay, Paul."

So I hung up and she called back to leave this message. Some people are so weird. It almost sounds like (e:matthew) 's sister but I can't see it being her.

Random Buffalo Things

Check out my other two journals before this one. I finally plugged in my Camera to change so I grabbed some pics off it.

Today we went to lunch at Kuni's on The go over on Lexington. The food was delicious as usual. Outside the Coca Cola truck parked to drop off a beverage delivery. Check out the rusty propane tank on the truck. It looks like maybe it could use a safety inspection?!

image

Here is a pic of Megan standing in front of our house after lunch with (e:jima) nd (e:enknot) today.

image

You can see the moving truck of our new roommate who is moving in today. I hope this works out and he doesn't eat all our food, lol unlike nameless bitch our old roommate.

People ask me why I am not so fond of the sky mansion building that is supposed to be going up on Gates circle. Well the reason is these two towers down the street from the proposed location. I am sure they looked oh so sheik when the were first be erected but now they look like horrible anachronisms. I doubt glass and chrome exteriors will look modern in the "Real Future"

image
image

(e:hodown) and (e:lilho) 's ex step sister, Jessica Magleietto, is now running for office in the Delaware District of Buffalo. That is so awesome - she is just about (e:lilho) 's age. At first I just assumed it was someone with the same name but then i saw this billboard on the corner of Delaware and West Delevan. I hope she wins.

Enknot and Megans Baby Shower

Last Sunday we went to (e:enknots) and Megans Baby shower in the Parlor of Spot downtown. She is the manager of the downtown spot so it was the perfect place.

Here is (e:enknot) with his mommy.
image

Here are some other people
image

Jeremy Jungels was there. He is great. Buffalo is so small it is amazing how everywhere I go I end up know so many people.
image

(e:matthew) won the name guessing game. He picked Fern. I wonder if they would really name it fern. He won like $35 which makes him a winner at the last two party games he played.

Another Mac keyboard

I got my second (e:40662) new mac keyboard today. They messed up the order. Originally, we ordered thought the developer store for the $4 discount but when there was a problem with the order, we canceled it. At least, they said we did but today the second one came. (e:mrdeadlier) will be using it for his mac when he gets one.

I can't believe the big box they ship in. It makes no sense because it is not filled with padding, just a big empty box with the keyboard inside.
image

The second one was even bigger.- which is totally ridiculous.
image

So I asked the cleaning lady about where I can recycle the cardboard and she say they just throw all the cardboard in the dumpster. She even offered to do it for me. I think I am going to have to look into this soon because I can't believe a place as big as Roswell Park would not recycle cardboard.
