About 4 years we made soap. (e:matthew) claims he was not present. Somehow his effigy made it into this soap. You can clearly see his penis floating above us, lol.

I cut my hair off. Before I also cut my beard I looked like a terrorist.

On the not so tasty front, (e:enknot) found this bird on Main Street the other day. I couldn't not take a picture.

Last week Nameless Bitch arrived and found an apartment over on Minnesota.

I am (an) Italian
Category: heritage
Well just about everybody knows that that is what I am ethnically but soon enough I will be able to really say I am an an Italian when I reclaim my citizenship. I finally got all the paperwork I needed - really in order. I guess it would be cooler if I could say it in Italian - I think it would be "Sono un italiano"

The next step is dragging myself and my stuff to the consulate in New York City and probably dragging my mother and maybe brother along with me. I suggested we take (e:mike) to and make it a Mom and me trip, lol. I wonder if there is a consolute in Toronto I could go to considering I am applying to reclaim my Italian citizenship which has little to do with America. Seems like it should not matter where the consulate is.

I am kind of excited and a little be apprehensive because it opens up so many possibilities as a world citizen.
leetee - 08/28/07 17:02
i'm still just canadian. people ask me all the time if i am a u.s.citizen and when i say no, they think i am illegal, as though there is nothing inbetween citizen and illegal immigrant.

so... will you travel to canada on your italian or us pasport?
jenks - 08/28/07 16:18
paul, how does this work? how are you an italian citizen? cool! I wish I were (more) italian- haha.

(and tiny, do you speak italian?)
jason - 08/28/07 08:15
Cool, now when I call you Paolo I am not technically wrong anymore!
paul - 08/27/07 23:30
It is actually way easier for mom because she just has to prove she never rejected her Italian citizenship. Then we would both get it.
fellyconnelly - 08/27/07 22:50
lucky!
i wish i could be a citizen of anything-other-than-america!
tinypliny - 08/27/07 22:39
oooooh, Lei parla l'italiano?
mike - 08/27/07 21:37
OMG Paul do it so then I can do it. See Paul has to prove lots of stuff but if he does then I only have to prove he is my brother!! by the by mom just said she thinks we should go to NYC.
libertad - 08/27/07 20:54
That is so great. You have an EZ out if things get hairy around here ;) You still can't go to Cuba though, it isn't legal for dual citizens either.
paul - 08/27/07 18:07
Mike, this could be good for you: MILITARY SERVICE
Decree n. 226 of 23 August 2004 (G.U. n. 204 of 23/8/2004), calls for, as of January 2005, the early suspension of obligatory military service and the establishment of professional military service.
james - 08/27/07 17:37
And as a citizen of an EU nation you can go anywhere! Lucky dog.

Summer in the City
Category: gay
We went to Summer in the City gay pride festival at Lasalle park today. It was a fundraiser for the ride center but we got free tickets from our new roommate. I guess it is an offshoot project from the old Pride at the Pier festival. We saw lady bunny She was really funny in a I was really drunk and she was really a really raunchy comedian kind of way.

image
Nameless Bitch and (e:jim) and (e:james) went with us and a good time was had by all. I think the free beer from 2-5PM helped making it extra fun. I saw Chris Parada and Angelo Cicatello and we reminisced about the gay old days in boy scouts troop 225. Apparently, it was way gayer than I thought.

image

I also realized I met (e:james) once a long time ago. I think (e:flacidness) is the only one who would remember this.

I love (e:jim) and (e:james) they restore my faith in having friends.
imk2 - 08/27/07 06:16
who is this new roomate? we want a description and some pics, ok?
mike - 08/27/07 00:39
i have totally been replaced by (e:james) and (e:jim). how sad : (
fellyconnelly - 08/26/07 21:31

jim - 08/26/07 21:16

Bad Experience at Cozumel on Elmwood
Category: buffalo
On friday August 24th at around 9PM four of us went to Cozumel at 153 Elmwood Avenue in the Allentown area of Buffalo, NY in order to get nachos($10) and rock shrimp ($12) along with some frosty mixed drinks. Generally this ends up costing around $60+ for 4 people because the appetizers are expensive as are the drinks. The outdoor bar was packed with people so we went inside to site and they seated us.

When we went to order our blond waitress went and spoke with the ugly brown haired one and then came back and she they refused to serve us at a table if we didn't order dinners. She said we could only order appetizers at the bar which is complete bullshit as we have eaten appetizers and ordered drinks there many times sitting at a booth. There were about 8 empty tables so it's not like we were taking up space. She was just being a lazy bitch.

It will be a while before I ever go back there which is their loss because I have spent a lot of money there in the past. (e:terry) said he overheard the one waitress saying she didn't feel like serving anymore that night.

The rest of the evening
Then we headed over to Couter Bay where a bunch of epeeps were hanging out (e:jim,40718) Got to meet (e:drew) (who looks and is much younger than in his pic) and (e:janelle) (his lovely wife) and hang with (e:jim) , (e:james) , (e:jbeatty) , (e:fellyconnelly) and (e:lauren) . It was a great evening. Afterwards, we headed over to Frizzys to meet up with (e:mike) , (e:beast) and (e:maureen) then over to Cathode Ray where I saw Brian and we got our picture taken by the Buffalo Barfly photographer. Then off to Roxy's where we danced for the first time in a long time. It was nice to see (e:jim) dance and be happy like myself. Holy crap I accidently typed mysql the first time I was typing mysql, lol. I'm bringing dorky back.
ajay - 08/26/07 12:44
Hmmm.... Roxy's ..... brings back memories.

No wonder I'm living in the heart of Lesbianistan.
metalpeter - 08/26/07 11:20
That whole thing at Cozumel sounds strange. My take is that since you can get apitizers at the bar then if that waitress does both the bar and the seats it makes her job easier if you just go to the bar. The part that gets weird is what if after you have apitisers you are joined by someone else or someone gets hungry and orders a dinner. It sounds to me like as you said one of the waitresses was lazy and the other one wasn't going to take her table from her. I'm glad you still had a great time out and about.
paul - 08/26/07 10:19
sqlplus is an oracle client I don't have that. Windows on mac you can use vmware fusion :::link::: It is $59 bucks right now with a rebate from the site - it's totally worth it. You want to buy the real thing so you can get updates.

You will need to get a legitmate copy of winows from school to use it. At UB you can get them for like $5.00. You should see if your school has something like that, I am sure they do.

Once you have vmware you can install linux on that too. Linux is free. What linux do you need? You can download it from the internet. Just tell me which one you need there are like 50 millions flavors of it.

Wow, it kind of sounds like you are in web programming school and not in digital media arts web design school. Not neessarily a bad thing but it sounds like more programming. You might as well give it a try and se if you like it. If you do, your job possibilties are huge.
tinypliny - 08/26/07 07:12
I am a horrible dancer, as (e:terry) may or may not remember. Maybe I should take a few lessons from (e:Jim).
lilho - 08/26/07 02:52
paul im in software crisis, you have all the programs i need!!! i need sql plus for mac, where do i get??? also windows for mac??? linux? meh.
vincent - 08/26/07 00:55
It seems that to me that the brand is going to fall into an identity crisis soon. My perception of it has been as a place to see and be seen sort of the trap Pano's fell into.

Now throw on top of that above perception right or wrong, a new southtowns location in the Southgate Plaza and what is the place? A elmwood cult establishment or a regional brand like Jim's Steak Out or Mighty Taco?
fellyconnelly - 08/25/07 17:21
no hangovers?
well i'm glad i have felt like poo on a biscuit all day...
museumchick - 08/25/07 15:39
That really sucks about Cozumel. I've had just appetizers there before in the regular sitting area- that's strange that they did that.

I'm glad you had a good night otherwise, though.
james - 08/25/07 14:26
Jim and I are so surprised we aren't hung over today. I guess that means we aren't too old to go out. Now we have no excuses.
mike - 08/25/07 14:03
nice seeing everyone, sorry that we missed dancing at Roxy's but i didn't drive and everyone else i was with was ready to go home cuz they had to get up early!

Billy And I
Category: computers
At work today my new dream server came in. Actually it isn't that much different than th estrip server - a dual core, dual processor 2.6ghz HP. I am seriously in love with CentOS. Whoever, it was that suggested it to me, (e:ajay) or maybe (e:uncutsaniflush) - thank you.

image

This marks huge shift for the Roswell web team as up until I got here it was all windows server 2003 and ASP. Somehow, I convinced everyone that PHP and linux servers is the way to go. I am so glad this is happening.

Virtual Dream Machines
I have Centos 5 running in a virtual machine on my Macbook using vmware fusion I was running virtual machnes with Parallels before but vmware fusion is definately much smoother and less resource intensive.

Virtual machines are the freakin' coolest thing ever. I assume that (e:uncutsaniflush) must be going crazy now that he can install even more linuxes on virtual machines. Before I let (e:enknot) use the vaio I had suse running centos, ubuntu and windows in a virtual machine. Do you have a machine running every linux flavor yet, lol?

Anyhow having a duplicate test server on my laptop is amazing. It lets you have the freedom to play around with the exact same server without the worries associated with braking a live server or the cost associated with having a physical test server. PLus, just like everything computer, you can save sattes and undo whatever you did to the guest OS by saving snapshots or backing up you virtual machine to disk or dvd.

It is so convenient too. I can for example drag and drop and shared clipboard between it and my host OS X installation. I couldn't have really imagined it would be this great before, even though I had used virtual PC way back in 1999 with red hat on my blueberry ibook, it wasn't nearly the same as the experience I am having on my 4GB macbook pro now, lol.

Who would have thought I would ever be running osx, windows, and linux all at the same freakin time and be able to integrate them seamlessly. It makes the whole operating system seem so meaningless. Really you should easily be able to run OS x in a virtual machine but apple is against it so there are all kinds of hindrances.
uncutsaniflush - 08/25/07 22:02
I think it was (e:ajay) who got you to use Centos. I think I mentioned it to you as a good Red Hat clone but I think you actually started using it after talking to him.

Yes, I do like virtual machines. I've been farting around with VMWare for a couple of years now. Lately, I've farting around with qemu as well. The only prob with vm's for me is that i'm running them on an athlon 900 with 518 megs of RAM.
enknot - 08/24/07 19:06
Ok just go here... (e:enknot,40715)
paul - 08/24/07 17:26
I think it was a combination between language features, online documentation and being able to use the large codebase and framework I had already written. They also all had some experience with PHP in outside projects.

I gave a couple classes a few months back on object oriented programming and that also helped as they were coming from a programmtic ASP classic background .

Actually, I will let (e:enknot) answer this as he is a switcher himself.
jason - 08/24/07 16:14
"This marks huge shift for the Roswell web team as up until I got here it was all windows server 2003 and ASP. Somehow, I convinced everyone that PHP and linux servers is the way to go. I am so glad this is happening."

What were your sell points? Especially to those who didn't have PHP experience?
