Unexplainable and ovewhelming

I want to post my iceland pictures here, but i also would like to write things along with it, and for me, that process is overwhelming. there were so many tiny moments and things that happened internally that a lot of why my trip was great is simply unexplainable.

I will try, however.

first day in Reykjavík

(this entry is mega pic-heavy)

Exploration is full throttle. I've been in one general part, but it's not a big city. firstly, i love it. it's a great city, with a nice buzz. there's people everywhere downtown, busy busy busy. the people are incredibly nice. I already made one friend! we went for beers at a really cute place. i will have to ask him the name.

i found some neat sights just taking random streets.
i want to go to more of the outskirts tomorrow. maybe find a spring... Idk. I'm wiped out.

a video i took...

to iceland

I'm writing this as my plane flies to Boston. from there, i go straight to Reykjavik. I'm nervous, and excited, and frightened, and ecstatic ... what if it's so boring? no, that's a terrible question, i can have fun staring at walls, I'll be fine, ha.... i wonder what kind of people i will meet? i am going.g to make a post on couchsurfing on the Reykjavik forum to see if anyone wants to meet up. a lot of people post for that... maybe I'll just respond to someone else's?

i haven't read much about the craziness in Turkey, but the guy in front is watching CNN and it's on. I'm excited for the citizenry there. maybe they'll accomplish something. I wonder if there's anything happening in goukichan's city? he probably would respond to me if there was, anyways.

i have to say, there is no peace like being a million feet up in the air, above the cloud cover... i feel so contented to be so insecure, way up high. air travel is a wonderful thing.

(i love lomo filters)

relay for renewables etc...

i went to this event with Rita and her friend Lisa from california. it was at singer farm naturals in appleton, ny... saw some people i know, actually :) i made a pinwheel and a wind catcher! i felt 5 years old again - i've always loved a good pinwheel. i also met the sweetest dog. he was my pal, we totally chillaxed and i scratched his ears ^,^! later there were speakers. all threee were very good. the woman with 350.org was from fiji and presented a lot about climate change and the niagara-erie bicounty region (how it will affect) and i was very grabbed by it.

the night before, i came over and we went out on amherst st. it was interesting for sure. we got into this long conversation at an old man... anyone else would have ignored him or asked him to go away, but i deiced to carry on a conversation with him, and it paid off. the amount of entertaining things he had to say was innumerable. his anecdotal stories about te safety of biking vs the dangers of walker were pretty hilarious. i slept at her place after we left rohal's corner (or however you spell it)

after the relay for renewables we ended up hanging out at Olcott Beach, which was more of a town on a beach than it was so much an actual beach. it was really cute. i wanna go back when it's warmer to see the shops and things.

thursday, weekend, Sigur Ros in Toronto

I'll just write this entry by narrating pics.

thursday before heading to tanyas I was ina bit of a mood... so I ate a tub of ice cream. It didn't make me feel better but i was a bit sugar high.
image

Then i realized Jenn was coming in from booklyn to stay at Tanya's for the night and so after having some bunny time, i got ready and headed over. The plan was that we'd drink 40's together but she got wine in stead. Surprisingly, this 40 was not terrible. I guess i could be homeless if this was what i had to look forwards to... haha (not haha, i should never say that again)
image

This was the bar in the hostel I stayed at. I actually really liked it. It kind of reminded of the pink and nietchez (sp?) combined... I met a really cool girl at the bar and we sat talking about all kinds of things for hours.... but the next day she turned out to be kind of annoying. She wouldn't leave me alone. I mean i liked her, i just wanted to be alone while i did homework.
image

image

View from my bed of the grocery store where i bought my lavish breakfast.
image

I got woken up by that girl i met so she could use my charger... somehow she got into my room to poke me awake. I was almost completely naked but at that point i didn't really give a fuck.... hope she wasn't freaked out by my body hair when i got up to get it. :P
image

It seriously took me two hours to eat all of this. it doesn't look like much but seeing the actual plate of fruits and veggies in front of you really put it in perspective. I didn't want to put it in the fridge because it was so gross... the kitchen was seriously sick. i found out on the last day as i was leaving that there was ANOTHER kitchen that was actually nice.
image

image

Tanya! we went to eat at this place on The Esplanade (not esplanade st, ave, rd.... But, THE Esplanade. seriously?) called the beer market (not properly spelled) but decided to go somewhere else instead called fran's. I had breakfast... it was kind of a commercial diner-y place but it was really tasty food and the the price point was reasonable. I liked it.
image

concert... I was sort of close, sort of far. right in the middle, i guess that means? haha... I liked it and had a great time, but i really felt the venue lacked that aspect of intimacy that sigur ros needs to feel truly great. You could feel it, the whole audience was a bit... muted. i took video, but the audio is probably shit. i didn't bother listening. They played a lot of my favorites, but they left out gobbledigook. (check it out here. nsfw due to naked people running through forests. I'd really like to be doing that at some point.) I didn't really get to sit with Tanya or Jens, but we reconvened after the show to walk back to the hostel. Tanya and I had beers at the bar, and Jens went back to his friend's place

These are just random pics i took around the hostel... it was so gritty and weird and kinda ghetto, but i ended up actually really liking it.
