Introducing.....Leo!
His name is Leo, and is such a sweetheart and very cute. The first day he took to us very well. He is cautious at first of new things, but his curiosity always gets the best of him! He loves investigating everything around the house, as it is all new to him. But, he always wants you close. If you leave a room and he is laying down or standing he will always follow. Basically he is always about five inches from you at all times. They say his clingy-ness may go away as he gets more comfortable with us and the house, but I wouldn't mind if he was always like that ;-)
He is a very pretty color and has the hugest nose I have seen on a greyhound. He loves going outside, but we will have to watch him very closely once we get a fence and can leave him off leash, as he does show a lot of interest in chasing bunnies and squirrels. He also has been enjoying going for walks, but believe it or not, you have to build greyhounds stamina up very slowly, as he is just used to short bursts of running. He was actually exhausted from just walking up and down the street
Leo also has a goofy side too. He is definitely warming up to life in a house, and loves to pick up his toys and throw them around. It will be fun to see how his personality changes as he gets more comfortable.
Ok enough talking, take a look for yourself at the newest and definitely the cutest new member of my family....

I finally did it....
And passed!
woohoo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have been working on my masters in biology and immunology at Roswell Park Cancer Institute for two years. My thesis defense was today at 10:30am and it went really well. I was nervous but once I started talking I got more comfortable. The doctors were very impressed and the Roswell Park Education Dean kept saying what I great job I did and how it was so much work! So I am happy it went so well. It's been a long time working on this!
PLUS....they just called to tell me that the greyhound I have been trying to adopt is ready to go home on Saturday! I am sooo nervous about getting it because I have never seen him and all I know is he is a male, his color is blue brindle (the blue colors are very rare from what i have read) his birthday is February 14th and he is 3 and half years old..oh yeah and he weighs 76 pounds. When the lady called I asked for his ear number. Each greyhound is tagged with an ear number at the tracks and you can keep track of his races. WOW. Let me tell you, he is like a champion. I thought I was going to get some puppy racing dropout, not a real racer. Either way, I am fine with both but when I looked him up it says he raced in the highest category of racing and did very well. He is from the Melbourne Florida racing track and they were getting rid of their dogs because the track went from being a year round track to being seasonal.
Here is the link for his page:
So yeah thats him. What a crazy name too! They don't really use the name though so you can call them any name you want when you adopt them. We'll see how it goes with getting him on Sat!

What a mom!
Sai Mai, a 26-month old female tiger, plays with baby pigs at a zoo in Chonburi, 80 km east of Bangkok. The Royal Bengali tigress was born in captivity and breast-fed by a female pig for four months after her birth.
These pictures were posed by a veterinarian who works at the zoo who said that when this tiger gave birth to her cubs, they were born dead. She was so depressed that the zoo gave her piglets to raise instead!!! Enjoy.
My favorite!

Pumpkins and Spooks
A cat, witch, Frankenstein and skeleton dancing in case you couldn't tell. It took forever to carve!
A raccoon popping out of a pumpkin...my personal favorite
My boyfriends attempt at a scary pumpkin.
Oh so in the Halloween spirit I braved my very first haunted house... yes, i know who hasn't been to a haunted house before...but, I haven't. I'm a huge baby and that stuff scares me but my friends Katrina and Craig and my boyfriend Nick really wanted to go. And, since the corn maize on Niagara falls boulevard that we always go to was closed down from the october storm, we were left with nothing else to go. So we went to the only more reasonably priced house we could find. it was on George urban and dick and we did the house of horrors for $10. We could of done another house for just $5 but I knew I would be too exhausted from all the scares from the first one. Ok well I made it though the house...it took like 45 minutes! and yes, i was scared. everyone else said it wasn't a bad one...but once again, I am a baby. haha. who really enjoys being chased by chain saw and having people pop out at ya?! ok ok ill admit. sometimes i did have my eyes closed. I'm not cut all for all the spooks. I think next year ill just stick to dressing up and carving pumpkins!
Happy Halloween everyone!

Question(s) for Paul
I have two questions on which you may be able to help me out with:
First, while I was online yesterday night from my home computer, the font on certain websites was really small, maybe like a 5 point where i can't read them. But, this is only on some websites and not all the font on the whole page is small. For example, on elmwoodstrip the read the latest list was really small but the rest of of beginning page was large; however, when I tried to click on a journal to read it, the font all was very small. Any ideas on what happened or how to fix that? I tried to do a system restart to two days ago but that did not work
Secondly, my roswell email account will not let me in. This afternoon at around 4pm I tried to login and I entered in my username and password and it made me do it three times before saying that my access is denied. I am expecting an email which I needed by saturday and don't know what is wrong. Do you have any ideas??
Thanks so much for reading this and trying to help me out!!!

Please help....The Ride for Roswell
So this Saturday is the Ride for Roswell, a bike ride fundraiser in order to raise money for Roswell Park Cancer Institute. My family and I have participated in the event ever since the first ride...about 10 or 11 years.
There are over 3,000 riders registered, and Roswell Park hopes to raise 1 Million dollars for cancer research. As a researcher at Roswell, I know the money that it takes to perform experiments as well as the need for more research projects to help the patients.
In order to ride you have to raise $100, which I have done (thanks to my generous family and friends!)
However, my boyfriend, Nick, needs some help raising money for Roswell. If you could possibly donate for Roswell Park Cancer Institute your money will be going to one of the best causes in Buffalo and towards fighting off the now number one killer in the United States, cancer.
Here is the link. Any amount ($5, $10...) will help!
Thank you in Advance for your Support in this great cause!

oh so long
Ok well not that much stuff has happened to me. I'm officially in grad school and currently interviewing for lab positions to start my masters research at Roswell. Hopefully then I'll make enough to quit old navy because that would be awesome. The classes are ok. Most are pretty hard and there is so much information to know. Like every class you get a hangout a few hundred pages long that you have to know and understand. I have a test next Tuesday so I am a little freaked out about that... probably should start studying soon.
Oh so listen to this. At Roswell we were in this huge lecture room for a oncology seminar and im in like the back row before a walkway that is behind me. So all of a sudden I hear this huge crash and like jump because it really just sounded like something almost fell on my head. Well the doctor lecturing stops the whole lecture to see if i am ok and what happened. Turns out like the huge like bulb from a ceiling light fell from the socket and smashed like right behind my head. Then all these security people had to come in and keep interupting the seminar to ask me if i was ok and if they needed to fill out an incident report. How embarrassing is that because like everyone in the lecture hall was looking haha. That seriously could only happen to me!...but at least it didn't hit me.
Other news is that on thursday to friday i am working 10pm til 5am at work. Its their inventory night. They have these about three times a year. However, the my friend the manager that left for a different store and who i miss soooo much was the only person that used to run them so i was pretty curious about who would be taking his place. Well inventories are a pain so when i was asked to sign up i said no. Then the one manager (who knew how close the manager that left and i were) said that if it was any incentive to me to sign up she just wanted me to know that my friend the manager was going to come back and run our inventory. I was like hmmm let me think for not even a second. sign me up! so now im really excited we get to hang out for an evening and catch up. It seems like its been soo long. And like other people are talking about getting massive amounts of coffee and how it will be so hard to stay up...but i mean its only 5am. I'm usually up til like 4am daily. haha.
ok well thats about it except for some other stuff that everyone that needs to know knows about and i probably should type. but its also been a rough week though with family stuff and my dog crinkles gettin a little sick and other stuff so im lookin for a better week this week!
see ya!
