E-Cycling at Lafayette Square
What: Electronics Recycling Collection Event
When: Tuesday, June 29
Times: 8:00am - 3:00 pm
Where: Lafayette Square
Why: To raise money for the Educational Technology Foundation of WNY (Ed Tech Day)
How: Bring old electronics and metal items to the event for free* recycling
infoTech Niagara is partnering with Shatter IT and Sunn King for our second annual E-Cycling collection event at Lafayette Square to benefit the Educational Technology Association of WNY (Ed Tech Day.)
Getting trashed at the square is a great way to have some fun while also donating to a charity. No, we don't mean that kind of trashed, we mean taking a sledge hammer and trashing old electronic equipment for charity and achance to win some great prizes.
In addition to trashing old equipment we are also recycling old electronics. We will have a street side drop off near Lafayette Square along with drop offs at three area parking lots:
AllPro Lafayette Court Surface Lot
BCAR's Main Place Ramp
Adam's Ramp
We will also provide pre-arranged pickup services for any nearby companies. There is no cost for any equipment except CRT monitors and TV's which cost $8 per piece with a portion of the proceeds benefitting the Educational Technology Foundation of WNY (Ed Tech Day.)
For more information or to schedule a pre-arranged pickcup of electronics to be recycled, please call 716.685.4577 or email info@esunnking.com
thanks for this (e:libertad) ... I was able to pop over this morning and dump off a hatchbackload of outdated stuff that has been taking up space for years.
Man I wish we had ANYTHING like that here!

Lots of thanks and loveIt was definitely a crazy night. Getting locked in a cage for like 20 minutes was probably the highlight of the evening. Looking forward to seeing many of you throughout the weekend!
happy big 30!
I hope you at least go locked in with someone. I heard you got locked in but didn't know any details.
I would like to know more about the cage... 20 minutes in cage? A new makeout game?

I thought I was okyou're killing me man.
I reckon you are still are ok despite the horrors you see. If this didn't bother you, then I would starting worrying about you. What you are experiencing is a manifestation of an essential part of what makes you you - your caring and compassion. It is hard to see suffering and not be moved.
This shit isn't easy to see. And I fear the worst is yet to come.

You're only 30?!So party tomorrow 24 Linwood. I'm making my bean dip and cowboy caviar. Mike is making chicken wing dip too. Bring your friends because (e:brit) and I don't have any of our own.
I think (e:brit)'s birthday really is tomorrow but I could be wrong.
Yeah unless you wanna buy beer!
Oh wait, um or plutonium! (what can only 40 year old buy?)
Ooh, or depends! This isn't working like I wanted it to...
thanks for organizing Dave and Mike - had a great time and I will always be back to sleep on your futon! x
I'm pretty surprised you're 30 you look young so I guess I was always thinking 25... Anyway for men aging is sexy.
My real birth date is the 12th. I think you're right (e:matthew), (e:brit)'s birthday is the 7th, she is five days older than I am. Hopefully she will come and visit often. She would always be welcome on my futon!
Happy birthday, (e:Libertad)! Mine was Monday 5/31 :-) I hope to stop by the 24 on Friday, but I may be rather late.
I love trying dip. Oh yeah Happy Birthday. I wish I was good at making stuff cause I would love to like make something. It will be a good time, I just hope I don't over do it, been super stressed out but that is a post of my own. I Remember the last 30th Party I went to was amazing it was also known as "The Tony Is old Party" that was pretty good. I'm sure this one will be a fun time also.
An annoying recent development was that they demolished the downtown building that used to be the Greyhound terminal in Rochester. I really liked the convenience of going straight into Rochester downtown (from Buffalo downtown) and taking one of the numerous buses to the Uni. Nowadays, the greyhound terminal at Rochester is somewhere in the boondocks - devil knows where. If you look around, you can't see any signs of civilization around. Makes it awfully tough to get anywhere from a bus stop in the wilderness.
Oh and Amtrak has power outlets for laptops - which makes it really a good choice for my work-related trips. They don't have wifi, though. Megabus has wifi AND power outlets. Some Greyhounds have wifi but no power outlets.
I have a very high opinion of Amtrak. Even though they do have delays because of the cargo train priority issue, they try their best to be on time and make up for a lot of delays by going fast in the sections they can. On a longer trip (for example to NYC), the fast and slow bits make up for each other and they are almost always 99% on time.
Whenever I have taken Amtrak (quite a number of times, now) they have always whizzed past Rochester in exactly 1 hour and 20 minutes or so. I have timed them going from Buffalo to Rochester because I need to be at meetings in Rochester on time. Coming back from NYC/Rochester is another issue though. I don't think I have ever tried to keep time because mostly I am super-tired or busily trying to take notes and follow-up on the meetings I attended while in Rochester.
Technically (e:tinypliny) you are right. It is actually $41 round trip and the car will cost ~$45. Taking a car will save me from asking my dad to pick me up on father's day and it will be easier to transport the food I am taking with me.
I never even knew Amtrak went to Rochester and that it was cheaper than the bus. I'm glad to at least know it is an option. I have heard that they often will have long delays because cargo trains get priority on the tracks.
hmmmm - a roundtrip costs
$36 on Amtrak - cheapest round trip. ($44 if you choose some other time - other than the cheapest)
$40 on Greyhound - if you are returning tomorrow.
$46 on Megabus - same day return.
Its cheaper if you book some days in advance. I don't think the prices are that unreasonable...
I get frustrated too when renting a car is cheaper. I want to fly to Texas next fall for a vacation and I explored flying into a city and then using rail or bus between several cities and it was too inefficient and more expense than just renting a car.
I love that fruit tart. Especially, the peach one.
