Happy new...wow..it's been almost a year

I just realized that I haven't posted to (e:strip) in a while. "A While" in my world being almost an entire year.

So what has happened in this almost-year?

Not much. :)

Still in school full-time and getting awesome grades. yay!

Still working in my soul-sucking swing shift job that pays WAY too well, and therefore, retains employees. However, I am planning on quitting after this coming semester is over. I will have the last 2 classes I need to get my Teacher's Aide certificate, so I will be able to get some experience in my field while completing my degree.

Hmm... Made it out to a few concerts over the summer and saw some (e:peeps), think I made it out to one or 2 PMT get togethers, went to NYC last May and was ready to go back the minute we left. (you really can't beat staying on the Upper West Side, 1 block from H&H Bagels)

Got together with friends far too little. Yet another side effect of working swing shift. :( The dinner at J.P. bullfeathers tonight is a prime example. meh.

Err...Hmm... My daughter was finally diagnosed with Asperger's Disorder, after years of incorrect diagnoses. I fought w/ the school system/Committee on Special Education for months and finally had to get a lawyer before they would listen to me, but she's finally in a setting where the teachers work with her instead of against her.

Several friends/acquaintances had babies, effectively turning up the volume on my own biological clock at a very inopportune time. :p

Spoke to a mortgage broker (last week) and am *hopefully* going to start the home buying process shortly.

Yep....that's my "year away from posting to (e:strip)" in review. :)

meh.

It's my first day off after a 7-day stretch (+ school Tuesday and Thursday) and I am stir crazy and want to do something SOOOOOO bad, but 3 days ago a pesky cold bug decided to take up residence in my head and my head feels like it's going to 'splode. :(

A few tips for this lovely cold/flu season:

  • Don't bother taking Airborne if you already have a cough. --I usually take it at the first sign of a cold, since (e:theecarey) got me turned onto it a year or two ago. I haven't had a full-blown cold till now. unfortunately this time I was too busy to notice the symptoms and caught it too late. :

  • Don't bother taking DayQuil caps. They suck now. --Thanks to the backyard/basement/closet/trunk of the car meth lab retards, DayQuil removed any trace of a working decongestant from their product. Had I known this yesterday, I wouldn't have spent $7.00 on a box of it, only to be stuck at work till midnight with a 'splodey head. :

  • You pretty much have to go through a body cavity search to get any product with pseudoephedrine in it now. --At Rite Aid you have to take a slip of paper to the pharmacist and they need to see your license, get your name, address and phone number and then you have to sign a form. (I was expecting them to request a stool sample next.) I finally got my illicit drugs and now I feel marginally human, though not well enough to spread my plague about town. :(

Hope you all have a better weekend than mine!! (I'll be asleep on my midnight shifts.) :)

Quiet, Err. I'm transmitting rage

I'm sorry, but this is the funniest thing yet this year.

And, of course, the next logical step is that people would take these devices and sell them on eBay....

They're now going for upwards of $1000.

School days...school daze...

As of today I am officially a college student again. My stomach is in knots. I don't know if I'm more nervous or excited.

More later.. doctor time.

Best SNL skit ever!!!!

May you all get one for Christmas....or...something.. lol

EDIT: damn YouTube and NBC to hell.

To view the uncensored clip, go to www.nbc.com--it is right at the top of the page. If they move it, search their videos for "SNL, in a box"

ANYWAY, I love it when Justin Timberlake is on SNL. He's one of the funnier guests they have.

Chiristmas, Christmas...time is near....

How I love my 4-day weekends! I can be super-busy Saturday and Sunday and still feel like I have a weekend. :)

Thursday Hailey and I went on a crazy Christmas shopping expedition. (I was actually looking for Guitar Hero 1 and 2 for my boyfriend, and ended up shopping for everyone else!) We also made a stop to visit Martha's section @ K-Mart and pick up all our tree trimmings. (we fought over colors b/c I wanted purple and silver and she wanted the blue and silver. She won--mostly because there were very few purple ornaments left. *pouts*)

After running to a few stores in that horrible Friday night weather, I went on a mad cookie spree. I only got through Oatmeal and some double-chocolate w/ Christmas Kissables ones before calling it a night, but it was a LOT of cookies!!

Yesterday my ex-step-daughter came over and we decorated the Christmas tree. (Okay, I set it up and she and my daughter Hailey did all the fun stuff!) They did a great job, as you can see here:

And one of them from last year...damn, kids grow so fast!

image
^^Little red-eyed demon kids at that!! :)

Then my parents came over for pizza and to hang out w/ the kiddos for a bit (which was just surreal in itself, as I don't believe I've ever actually had my parents over for a real visit before).

Today, I am making some yummy Italian wedding soup (which I have never actually tried before, so wish me luck!) and just hanging around the house. I think more cookies may be in order later, too. :D

Wondering why I feel compelled to cook and bake when it gets cold out. Is it an Italian thing or an old age thing? lol
