Guns "Rock"
I was thinking about bible stories the other day and I was trying to remember the point of some of the stories. The one I have never understood was David and Goliath. (not the claymation dog) Yeah I understand the idea they try to impress us with, Big Monster vs boyish hero. ( Michelangelo's is a lil manlier than one would imagine) But really, what am I supposed to be impressed with ? They never even really fight. So what I gather is this... He who has the better weapon wins. The old TV line of " Never bring a knife to a gun fight". Oh you have a sword, well hold on while I crush your skull with a rock. So all I can grasp, is if your weak, and you can't stand on your own, get yourself a better weapon. So from rocks, to arrows, to laser guided missiles, I can see the lessons the Bible teaches are alive and well. Just don't read the parts about love thy neighbor, or turn the other cheek. Nobody else is.

Land of the free, home of the dumb
Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said that players caught loafing will no longer wear pink jerseys during practices in an effort to avoid offending breast cancer survivors.
Nutt received negative reaction from people when they saw the players in the pink jerseys. Breast cancer survivors and their supporters often wear pink ribbons, and the nationwide Race for the Cure, which raises funds for breast cancer research, uses the color pink as well.
"That's the last think I want to do, is to offend a cancer victim, someone who I know how strong and brave they are," Nutt said. "That was the last thing on our mind, to discredit somebody who has shown a lot of toughness. I've had members of my family who had cancer."
Nutt said the coaches are considering another color, possibly burnt orange, the color of Arkansas rival Texas.
Now as ridiculous as this story sounds it get's a little funnier, I guess people started calling the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Komen Ozark Race for the Cure complaining about this absurd censorship, and threatened to withdraw funds. So now the breast cancer people come out with there statement saying they had nothing to do with the complaint, and they weren't offended.
So what we're left with is the rule of the minority, a couple of morons decide whats offensive or not and they complain until they get there way. Last year I remember a story on the news about a Seattle school that stopped celebrating Halloween, because some Wikken parents thought the idea of the " Scary Witch " was offensive to there religion. I don't know who's worse, the ones who complain or those who listen.

My favorite poem
When we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted,
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.
The dew of the morning
Sank chill on my brow -
It felt like the warning
Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame:
I hear thy name spoken,
And share in its shame.
They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shudder comes o'er me -
Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee,
Who knew thee too well: -
Long, long shall I rue thee
Too deeply to tell.
In secret we met -
In silence I grieve
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee? -
With silence and tears.

Not Black History, American History
Honestly I think, I almost know why we do such things. It's all about fairy tales, to spread the myth of our squeaky clean past to minds that won't question it. I'm sure all of us once learned that the Civil War was fought for slavery, then a few years later we're told... "well that's not really true", or " That's a third grade answer." Why teach us lies only to "Clear it up later". It's because we'll remember the first thing we learned better than the truth. Thomas Jefferson once wrote, (on Blacks)
( he also believed the appropriate punishment for witchcraft was ducking)Comparing them by their faculties of memory, reason, and imagination, it appears to me, that in memory they are equal to the whites; in reason much inferior, as I think one could scarcely be found capable of tracing and comprehending the investigations of Euclid; and that in imagination they are dull, tasteless, and anomalous.
So much for all men are created equal, Blacks and Whites are so chained by our past. Why don't we learn about the importance of slavery during the American Revolution ? We cannot be one people until we accept that we have the same history, we shouldn't have to take Black History classes, just History...Our real history. A history the Black community should wear with pride, and the rest of us should accept our shame, not Whitewash it.
David Walker's Appeal, September 28 1829I have been for years troubling the pages of historians, to find out what our fathers have done to the white Christians of America, to merit such condign punishment as they have inflicted on them, and do continue to inflict on us their children. But I must aver, that my researches have hitherto been to no effect. I have therefore, come to the immovable conclusion, that they (Americans) have, and do continue to punish us for nothing else, but for enriching them and their country. For I cannot conceive of anything else. Nor will I ever believe otherwise, until the Lord shall convince me.
