Land of the free, home of the dumb
First there's this:
Arkansas coach Houston Nutt said that players caught loafing will no longer wear pink jerseys during practices in an effort to avoid offending breast cancer survivors.
Nutt received negative reaction from people when they saw the players in the pink jerseys. Breast cancer survivors and their supporters often wear pink ribbons, and the nationwide Race for the Cure, which raises funds for breast cancer research, uses the color pink as well.
"That's the last think I want to do, is to offend a cancer victim, someone who I know how strong and brave they are," Nutt said. "That was the last thing on our mind, to discredit somebody who has shown a lot of toughness. I've had members of my family who had cancer."
Nutt said the coaches are considering another color, possibly burnt orange, the color of Arkansas rival Texas.
Now as ridiculous as this story sounds it get's a little funnier, I guess people started calling the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation and the Komen Ozark Race for the Cure complaining about this absurd censorship, and threatened to withdraw funds. So now the breast cancer people come out with there statement saying they had nothing to do with the complaint, and they weren't offended.
So what we're left with is the rule of the minority, a couple of morons decide whats offensive or not and they complain until they get there way. Last year I remember a story on the news about a Seattle school that stopped celebrating Halloween, because some Wikken parents thought the idea of the " Scary Witch " was offensive to there religion. I don't know who's worse, the ones who complain or those who listen.
