The Fantastic Four

I'm very worried about this new fantastic four movie. I just can't see any way that it could be good. The worst part is, I'm sure I'll see it just to prove myself right. I was excited about Spidy, and the Punisher was a wonderfully violent movie, but whats next ? I know, how about another Captain America movie or even better all of the Avengers. Suck Suck Suck. What was the last original movie to come out ? It's all remakes, cartoons/comics, novels, or just stealing the premise of another movie. I wonder if I'll ever get to use my free movie passes ?

Guten tag !!!

Well just two more months before Europe. I've been brushing up on my French and attempting to learn German. I've been going to chat rooms at Yahoo UK and Yahoo DE ( Germany ). My time there makes me feel like a total retard, most kids in Germany speak three languages, I speak one fairly well. And I do mean kids, like 15 y/o's. I know that English is becoming our worlds language, when I was in Paris, you see Chinese and French people speaking English to each other because it's a common language. We're just spoiled, I wonder the percentage of Natural born Americans that are fluent in another language, due to schooling ( high school, college). I doubt it's very high. Well, my last complaint is that I'm irritated that Orchard Park didn't have a German class, and the last I knew neither did ECC. I like the language, and it's closer to English than French or Spanish. If only i went to Frontier, then maybe I'd know what anybody in Schindler's List was saying. All I could grasp was " Gute nacht mutter " Oh well, auf wiedersehn !

My favorite poem

When we two parted

When we two parted
In silence and tears,
Half broken-hearted,
To sever for years,
Pale grew thy cheek and cold,
Colder thy kiss;
Truly that hour foretold
Sorrow to this.

The dew of the morning
Sank chill on my brow -
It felt like the warning
Of what I feel now.
Thy vows are all broken,
And light is thy fame:
I hear thy name spoken,
And share in its shame.

They name thee before me,
A knell to mine ear;
A shudder comes o'er me -
Why wert thou so dear?
They know not I knew thee,
Who knew thee too well: -
Long, long shall I rue thee
Too deeply to tell.

In secret we met -
In silence I grieve
That thy heart could forget,
Thy spirit deceive.
If I should meet thee
After long years,
How should I greet thee? -
With silence and tears.

Not Black History, American History

Along with being the month of my birth and my Anniversary, February is also Black History Month. So today I was watching PBS, Slavery. Now I love learning new things, but these things make me furious. Why you may ask ? Because these shouldn't be new things !! We Should all know the name Elizabeth Freeman (Mum Bett), and David Walker. Why is our education so segregated ? Jefferson wrote " All men are created equal" and owned hundred of slaves. But our education is so false, why do we teach The American Revolution to 10y/o's ? Why teach the Civil War to fourth graders ?
Honestly I think, I almost know why we do such things. It's all about fairy tales, to spread the myth of our squeaky clean past to minds that won't question it. I'm sure all of us once learned that the Civil War was fought for slavery, then a few years later we're told... "well that's not really true", or " That's a third grade answer." Why teach us lies only to "Clear it up later". It's because we'll remember the first thing we learned better than the truth. Thomas Jefferson once wrote, (on Blacks)

Comparing them by their faculties of memory, reason, and imagination, it appears to me, that in memory they are equal to the whites; in reason much inferior, as I think one could scarcely be found capable of tracing and comprehending the investigations of Euclid; and that in imagination they are dull, tasteless, and anomalous.

( he also believed the appropriate punishment for witchcraft was ducking)
So much for all men are created equal, Blacks and Whites are so chained by our past. Why don't we learn about the importance of slavery during the American Revolution ? We cannot be one people until we accept that we have the same history, we shouldn't have to take Black History classes, just History...Our real history. A history the Black community should wear with pride, and the rest of us should accept our shame, not Whitewash it.

I have been for years troubling the pages of historians, to find out what our fathers have done to the white Christians of America, to merit such condign punishment as they have inflicted on them, and do continue to inflict on us their children. But I must aver, that my researches have hitherto been to no effect. I have therefore, come to the immovable conclusion, that they (Americans) have, and do continue to punish us for nothing else, but for enriching them and their country. For I cannot conceive of anything else. Nor will I ever believe otherwise, until the Lord shall convince me.

David Walker's Appeal, September 28 1829

Bored

So what to chat about? Ponder, ponder, ponder... I think all war should end, and everybody should get along. How typical is that, in a race that will shoot someone for driving poorly, we ask for world peace. I can't stand it. Who are we trying to fool with our notions of peace, war is in our nature. Sometimes I try to be optimistic, but it always falls through. Optimism is fantasy, pessimism is reality. I am a realist. A tired realist. Good night everyone, be glad you can sleep at night.

A Favorite Poem( one of many )

She was a Phantom of delight

She was a Phantom of delight
When first she gleam'd upon my sight;
A lovely Apparition, sent
To be a moment's ornament:
Her eyes as stars of twilight fair;
Like twilight's, too, her dusky hair;
But all things else about her drawn
From May-time and the cheerful dawn;
A dancing shape, an image gay,
To haunt, to startle, and waylay.

I saw her upon nearer view,
A Spirit, yet a Woman too!
Her household motions light and free,
And steps of virgin liberty;
A countenance in which did meet
Sweet records, promises as sweet;
A creature not too bright or good
For human nature's daily food,
For transient sorrows, simple wiles,
Praise, blame, love, kisses, tears, and smiles.

And now I see with eye serene
The very pulse of the machine;
A being breathing thoughtful breath,
A traveller between life and death:
The reason firm, the temperate will,
Endurance, foresight, strength, and skill;
A perfect Woman, nobly plann'd
To warn, to comfort, and command;
And yet a Spirit still, and bright
With something of an angel light.

~ W. Wordsworth

I have read two different endings to this poem, this is the older version. The new version ends with " Something of angelic light" it's frustrating because who gives publishers the right to just change things. The "angelic light" ending loses the natural flow, it's choppy. And this is just a poem, imagine what happens to important literature, like the Bible.

The Saddest

Of all sad words of tongue or pen, the saddest are these: It might have been!- John Greenleaf Whittier

Sad Memories &

Every time I open this page, for some reason the picture of Coffee & is always on the top of the screen. I loved that place. My first day of work on Elmwood, was the same day they put the big cup on the front of the building. Now I didn't know the gentleman(owner) who lived upstairs. But I knew Nikki, she was everyone's favorite coffee slinging Granny. I liked it there so much that I had to find a drink for me, since I don't care much for coffee. Luckily for me the Chai revolution was on, and seeing that I'm not a health nut, I opted for the Milkshake. "Whipped cream?" yes. Ever since the arson, Elmwood,(to me)just isn't the same. So it seems fitting that I am leaving my Elmwood workplace. My patience has grown thin, and my hiding place has gone away. Oh well, " To everything turn, turn, turn..."

What people want

[inlink]aydenrogerscry,21[/inlink] In response to this, I simply say "People want what they cannot have", The idea of Good guys and Bad guys, could simply be put as attainable and unattainable. Girls don't want to be treated like shit, they just want the "Bad" guys to be "Good"guys. I'm sure most of us were blinded by what we considered love. Dreamed about the what ifs, just wished this person could see how wonderful we are, and how they cannot live without us. The amusing thing is, that they most likely are in the situation with someone else. Basically, IT'S NOT LOVE. We only want acceptance, validation. We walk around with blinders on, all around you there are people who are willing to validate you. To truly love you, but you'll never see them, they're like shadows and "He or She" is the Sun. The sad thing is, they will never be as "Good" as you make them out to be, never live up to the expectation. The longing is more addictive than the outcome, that's why "crushes" put things off for so long. We'd rather leave the door open a crack, than to close it or walk through. We control the longing, if we choose it'll never end. Our love is in the longing, not the one we pine for. So I say, Love yourself that's where it all starts, how can anybody love you if you don't. And love shouldn't be fought for, it should be given equally, Why should you give love and fight for some in return?

To love oneself is the beginning of a lifelong romance~ Oscar Wilde
