wish me luck. I threw up like 30 times and have this constant stabbing pain where my appendix id. They think my appendix might need to go. I just got another ct scan. This is not i wanted to be doing. :( I wish (e:hodown) was here. I need some soft woman snuggles.
Thanks for taking me (e:terry)

Shopping At Wegman'sCategory: food
They only have one little truffle left. At $999/lb I can understand why. I don't get why they have them at Wegman's. Like I could see why they would have it at premier or somewhere like that, but in the regular produce section at Wegman's is kind of redic. Its looks like a little poop in the rice.

What is it with the New Crop thats so good? Was the old crop bad? Isn't it often a new crop? Maybe it just didn't translate very well.

Check out this huge antennae on this car. What kind of signal are they trying to pull in?

Ham radio, or CB? (e:bugmuncher) used to have a CB radio in his car, and the antenna looked like that. What is the difference, in terms of the antenna one would need, between Ham and CB?

The reason that there is only one left is that truffle season is long over. That one prob has been sitting there forever. At the very least they should sell it for 1/2 off..

The other day in Springville I saw a white SUV that had LITERALLY 15 antennaes on it. Now I didn't actually count them but it was definetely a few more than ten.

One day when we went shopping at Wegman's, the box to those truffles were actually unlocked! Err, I should say, the lock was broken, but I was a good boy.

Somebody actually wrote in to Menu Magazine once to say that they wouldn't pay $1000/lb for something if they couldn't taste a sample. And somebody actually answered in print: nice try, check out the truffle oil. If you were the kind of person who bought truffles, would you even consider buying something that's been sitting around in the Wegmans produce section for a couple weeks?
The old crop tasted faintly like weevils.
That's the world's largest radio-controlled car. It uses a standard Radio Shack controller with a nominal range of about 30 feet, which is why the receiver requires such substantial signal amplification.

The new oak dinning room tableCategory: linwood
The new dining 8 foot by 4ft solid oak room table came today. It looks nice although I think the chairs are a little to "cottage, crafty, country" for my taste. It matches the shiny, stupid oak floors. Now if only I was allowed to walk on the floor and if I had friends to eat at it with - it would be awesome. Right now it is just another fucking annoying, functionless object on display. I am tired of those kind things.

We bought it at Consignment Furniture on Sheridan. They are over at 2217 Sheridan Drive. Buffalo, NY 14223. (716) 874-1979.
Considering the cost of a solid oak dining room table that size we got a super duper bargain at $299.00. Thats right not $2000.00 but $299.00. Some lady was getting divorced and just wanted to get rid of it. The delivery guy said the price was a mistake and we were really lucky. I think it is the first piece of non broken furniture we have besides the new couch I got for (e:matthew) for his birthday - that he hates.

That table does look pretty nice. That being said it looks small compared to the rest of the room. Maybe each one of you could invite over one person and have a 6 person Dinner Party or invite one couple who only has one kid who is table age and there you go.

Working on the yardCategory: linwood
Now that we did so much inside the house, it is time to start working more outside of the house. Today we decided to remove a major yard debris pile, clean out the garage and remove some broken concrete.
But first what the hell does this sign mean at the church next door? Drew, any ideas?

The old turtle skeleton is getting cooler and cooler over time. It was the previous owners pet we found dead in the basement when we bought the house.

Parts of the garage got moldy again. We really need to make some sort of ventilation for it. It is a solid brick/concrete box with a water problem. This wooden kids slide got so moldy it was furry.

Removing the concrete was a pain in the ass because underneath it was million brick parts that had to be pulled out in order to plant grass.

I am not sure what we are going to do with all the concrete and bricks we have pulled out of the dirt in the yard. Most of them are from a house that stood here before ours, thinks (e:matthew).

Then there was this pile of yard debris from last year.

And (e:terry) spent the whole day breaking it down. It looks so much better now. He also used some of the broken concrete to build up our compost bin which produced a lot of compost from last year that he sprinkled around the garden today.

Unfortunately, we missed big garbage day, which was this morning. I have so much debris again form the deconstruction of the bathroom. Also, I have a lot of solid copper pipes. Anyone know where i can sell the copper at. I always hear about people stealing copper but k=now that i have my own - I have no idea where you would "unload" it.

Kimya Dawson In Buffalo AgainCategory: music
It was fun to see Kimya Dawson
on Thursday night at the Tralf. It wasn't quite the same as the other two times we saw her at Mohawk Place. My favorite time was when we got to talk to her (e:paul,30882) and we got tee-shirts that she drew for us. Mine had a tortoise on it.
This time the line was long.

She played a great set. It was kind of annoying that you could hear and feel the Marcellas "Boom, boom, boom" the whole time.

She was the same goodness as always but played a little faster than I remembered.
[flv]0408/KimyaInBuffalo0413.flv[/flv]
It was weird that most of the people in the audience were there because if the Juno movie. It reminded me of the difference between seeing Tugboat Annie play in our friends church basement and then seeing them at a big concert later.
One guy yelled out something like, I liked you before Juno and she kind of ripped him apart till the point he left. I thought that was kind of awkward but he was really being a jerk. He also kept making fun of Buffalo as he was from Seattle or something.
I still love her and her music. She has a baby now.
They have food and tables at the Tralf which is pretty cool.

I made (e:terry) wear his little birdy.

the best part was not being IDed and not because the guy thought I was too old to get a drinking bracelet, but because he thought I was TOO YOUNG to get one. He wouldn't even believe my ID at first. (e:mike), my seven year younger brother did get proofed. That was terrific.

When I went to see her here a couple weeks ago, the ticket-takers were all like, "Did you know about Kimya before the Juno soundtrack?" (Yes - actually, I found out about the movie from Kimya, not the other way around.) "Ooh, ok, which do you like better, Kimya solo, or the Moldy Peaches?" (Kimya solo.) "Ooh, you're a true fan!!" (Uhm, ok, whatever... )
Her baby is adorable. There was one point where Kimya was playing a really sad song, but I was totally distracted watching Panda play behind the merch table with a box on her head while Paul Baribeau took pictures. :)

i'm sad I missed her. :(
woah crazy! i'm glad you are alright. how do you get gangrene at the end of your appendix? its a weird thought..
Whoa, just saw this!
Best wishes for a speedy recovery, (e:paul) !
You know, there's a doctor I know in Buffalo who'll give you the soft woman snuggles _while_ removing your appendix... ;)
Note to self: double the fiber intake.
Im glad to hear everything went well, I hope you feel better soon :)
If only you had come to Gates, I would have been the one taking your appendix out. ;) (I'm actually serious).
But.... I know the guys at BGH too, and you're in pretty good hands. :)
Just teasing. Dr. F is good. You should be fine.
Glad to hear all went well.
Here's to a speedy recovery!!
UPDATE #2. Paul has had the surgery and everything went well. He's at Buffalo General tonight, but will be home tomorrow morning. He thanks everyone for the well wishes.
Yikes! Hope everything goes well & you have a speedy recovery.
oh wow, i missed all of this. you are like dying and i didnt even know! we need like an amber alert or something for all of the estrippers. everything went ok, right?
Hope you feel better, Paul!
crap, paul, where are you? what hospital?
Want me to make any calls?
call me if you need anything- 348-6310 (or matt or terry or anyone, whatever!)
aw Paul! appendicitis is mucho de pain! tell them to get all the other extra organs (spleen, etc) in there too while they're at it
It sounds pretty bad. I wish you luck with the surgery and hope everything goes good with it.
good luck paul, we'll be thinking of you..
A and G
Thanks for the update Matthew.
UPDATE. I just visited (e:paul) in the Hospital. The doctors have scheduled to have his appendix removed later this evening. They seem confident that there won't be any complications. (e:paul) should be home tomorrow. Hang in there Paul! Love you.
I assume you are in Buffalo General, Paul?
i am not soft enough? i am sorry paulie, that sounds so awful. i'll send sending healthy energy your way.
you are such an attention whore...just kidding. Dad just told me ...this has to suck royally , i will come see you in a little bit.
I'll be thinking about you paul. I hope you feel better soon. I'll be hoping for a speedy recovery.
Paul, you better stop having problems with your guts or you are going to have a serious talking to mister!
Feel better. If you need anything just give us a call.
You need anything, just give us a shout..
That's terrible. Appendicitis pain is the worst you could have. :( I am so sorry! Which ER are you in? Thankfully, appendectomy is one of the more common surgical procedures and the recovery time is not too bad. Think positive thoughts.
I shall be praying for you. Good luck with everything!!
-j
Paul, hang in there, my friend. If you need something from me, don't hesitate to shoot me an e-mail or call and I'll do my best.
this not having drugs anymore so they can test the pain location sucks. It hurts so fucking bad, they said it looks like its gotta come out,
Oh my god Paul. I tried to call you a million times. I was wondering how you were!! Call me at work as soon as you can or I'll call you later tonight. Feel better Paulie :X
Thinking a good thought for you
(((((((((( (e:Paul) ))))))))))
I know i'm not (e:Hodown), nor am i even there, but that is the closest i can get to soft woman snuggles!
Good luck, (e:Paul)!!!
