Hiking at Hunter's CreekCategory: hiking
On Sunday (e:matthew), (e:tinypliny), (e:yesthatcasey) and I went hiking at Hunter's Creek in East Aurora. We started on Hunters creek rd and randomly hiked around some of the parts I remembered from high school. Having the phone GPS makes getting lost impossible. I wish the weather would last. I kept not wanting to look but I was tracking our trip with My Tracks.

Exclusively Alaskan Good - Take 5Category: food
Headed back to my favorite fishmonger last night to pick up some more crab legs. The ones she carries are always so delicious.
This time I cracked all the shells before I ate them in order to make the eating part effortless.
I paired then with red pears, red romaine, rice and zucchini.
They started carrying seafood from florida so while we were there I also picked up some cape rock shrimp. They came pre shelled which should make cooking a snap. I am thinking garlic butter, lemon and white wine sauce.

4 more days till Fedora 16Category: linux
I am so excited about the new fedora
build. It is interesting to learn that it was supposed to be named Beefy Miracle but apparently they extended the voting period and it ended up being called Verne. Doesn't extending a vote period seem illegitimate?

Anyways, Fedora 17 got the Beefy Miracle name after all

I hope my wireless card works with Fedora 16. It seems the driver is broken in Debian with 3.0.x kernels. I had to go back to a 2.6 kernel in AV Linux (which is a media production distro based on Debian) I reckon I will find out in a few days.

I wholeheartedly agree with you. I think my current low blood pressure is due to my forgetting that I am even running a linux distro. I have started preferring to work on Fedora 15 more than win xp and that is a huge step for me. It has started staying out of the way. I was just telling (e:paul), I am definitely not upgrading till he thinks there is a massive improvement in many ways. I will be waiting for his review. :)
The new R came out yesterday and so did RStudio. I prefer a clean install of both. I am hoping that by the end of this month I will be done with the majority of my analyses so along with the new R/RStudio, I could as well get the new F16 if again, (e:Paul) says its definitely better.

My advice to anyone, no matter what operating system, is the same. If ain't broke, don't fix it. Especially on a "production" box. Change for the sake of change isn't always happy.
Specifically, (e:tinypliny), if you got Fedora 15 working for you, why would you want to upgrade to Fedora 16? Is there anything that would give you a better computing experience with Fedora 16?
Of course, this is from someone who historically has pushed software to the breaking point much to the dismay of his wife. But, then again, for the last 5 years or so, (e:leetee) has a stable box that is upgraded only when necessary.

Well Beefy Miracle sounds very sexual like a girl or boy who is expecting one size and gets one like twice that....

I am going to wait till thanksgiving to switch... I have had not one incident of craziness for the past 3 weeks. I don't want it to implode just when things are going somewhat smoothly.

I'm waiting for Fedora 16 to be released as well.

Question the Panoromas where they taken that way or is it how some cameras you can combine shots?
What Matt said. 'Sides, makes every shot an action shot, and that's pretty cool. ;o)
I never said you look deranged in ALL of your photos, just that one in particular. Besides, people who try to control the way they look in other peoples photo always end up looking stranger than if they just relaxed and presented themselves naturally.
I had such a fun time! Thanks so much for inviting me along.
PS: (e:matthew) is right. I always do look a bit deranged. I need to work on my "neutral photograph face". Or maybe its impossible when you are easily amused and find things hysterical in general.
