Boring breaks
My breaks are so boring. Recently they forced us to take half hour lunches and two fifteen minute breaks when we used to just take a whole hour. Now we are too short staffed to have everyone out on lunch around the same time...

So I need more fun things to look at because I really have seen just about all I can handle from peopleofwalmart.com. I need exciting and fun webpages to keep me occupied. Any suggestions besides estrip?

And here is the latest from people of walmart.

From the article you sent:

Alwash grins, and then he says: "One of my strengths is that I don't let myself be constrained by reality."

I wish I were more like him. :-)

This is my favourite site: :::link::: I love choosing random things on there to read when I feel adventurous and want to get rid of pettiness of thought.

Thanks so much (e:leetee). Unfortunately my job blocks a lot of those websites for some reason. I will talk to my boss about it since really we don't have the freedom to leave our office during our breaks the only thing we have is the internet. Cute Overload was really good, I checked it out at home last night.

Flowers in the Attic
The other day I was thinking about probably my favorite "novel" of all time. I say "novel" because it is said to have some truth in it. I suppose they all have some truth, maybe even more truth than non-fiction. Anyways, my favorite book when I was younger was Flowers in the Attic. My mom got it for me from the library. Looking back I can't believe she got that for me because she sheltered me from so much on TV. The book was definitely controversial for its time, even now it deals with the taboo.

It really is quite scary and totally insane. So when I started thinking about the book I decided to see if I could find the movie online and I watched it on youtube in about 15 parts. The movie was really good too. It didn't quite get into the incest but it dabbled in it. Flowers in the Attic is really dark and disturbed.

This is the book cover, although when I read it the book was a black hard cover with no jacket. It made me not want to read it considering the title was Flowers in the Attic, I thought what kind of crap is this.

This is the woman who plays the grandmother in the movie.

This was like one of my favorites when I was 13! I really liked her books, and her ideas that she passed on to the other writer when she died, but then they started getting real teeny-bopper about 6 series in and I stopped.
libertad - 08/12/10 11:02
Nobody has read this book? I'm surprised.
jenks - 08/11/10 11:43
ha, I remember when those books came out. I never read them, but I remember that my friends that did thought they were all dangerous and sneaky reading these scandalous books without their parents knowing.
tinypliny - 08/10/10 20:47
I just read on the wiki that the author died of breast cancer at 63.
tinypliny - 08/10/10 20:46
My favourite was Middlemarch. I don't think I have ever read this author.

are you a. straight b. gay/lesbian c. bisexual d. transgendered??
As part of our demografics questions at work we have added questions regarding people's sexual orientation. I kind of like it because I am nosey. So far haven't had any objections to it being asked.

I think SNL should do a skit about calling a "Quitline" to get free patches in which the caller is asked all of these ridiculous and personal questions. When the caller objects asking what this has to do with smoking the phone rep can remind them that these questions are mandatory if they want the free product.

For example....

Which of the following do you consider yourself?

a.straight
b.gay/lesbian
c. bisexual
d.transgendered

You're gay ok. Now which of the following best represents your preference

a.top
b.bottom
c. versatile

So that's my idea for an SNL skit. I think it would be really funny.

metalpeter - 07/28/10 20:27
it was kinda unclear so I just answered any ways. And That would a good idea really. What if say the person isn't out and that info of them being gay gets passed on somehow to someone it shouldn't....................
libertad - 07/28/10 13:44
I just saw this comment (e:metalpeter). I hope you didn't think that I was asking you specifically if you were closeted or on the D.L. I was saying it would be funny to add that to our list of options we ask people.
metalpeter - 07/22/10 18:31
I didn't think about the fact that you are part of a State program. I thought the information was just compieled as stats and wasn't really used. But now that you explain it, I get it completely. That being said I could see where some people wouldn't want to answer it thinking why are they asking this. But that is a general view of I have of most places that collect data on their users, that there is the giant file some place that no one uses. I wonder if other quiting places do this as well. If they do it would be interesting to compare stats and see how programs could be improved.

After I typed my 1st comment it dawned on me later, I wonder did everyone on (e:strip) get that as an e-mail message or just the people who read this journal or people who left comments? oops If I gave to much info to people.

Well now those people who have seen it might as well get a better answer that makes things clear. What one likes in movies and real life is different. Things blowing up cool, real life car blows up time to run and get the fuck out of here. Now in terms of porn. I love girl on girl and girls kissing is hot. However I have seen this (yes one girl going down on another) at a bar (fetish at diablo) and was it hot yes but it wasn't the same. Also girls kissing in person (TATS) was not the same it was more cute (not in a cat type of way but not in a this is hot , hard to explain). I assume this would be true in person as well. Some dude drops his pants I don't want to see. Now if it is some chick blowing him I might watch that that might be interesting to see. Or I might have to walk away, just cause I prefer the porn hardcore doesn't mean I would like to see that in real life.

So to answer the question that was posed to me. I'm not gay, not in the closet, not on the DL. Or at least that is how I identify my self some may disagree with that.......

One thing about SNL that I have to add quickly is that for those that don't know Night at the Roxberry that skit was bassed of an info merical for some dating thing I think, if I understand it correctly. Also I know the show get bashed for not being what it once was but weekend update is all ways funny........
paul - 07/22/10 01:24
That is so 90s. Now its LGBTQI2-S (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning, inter- sex, two-spirit ) or longer. I dare you to ask people if they are inter-sex or two-spirit. Wow, out of all of those words, transgender is the one that firefox marks as spelled wrong. Options for correction: transgenic, transponder, transcendent, transcendence
libertad - 07/21/10 22:15
That's funny (e:metalpeter).

Asking people their sexuality does serve a purpose. It was the GLBT community really that asked that we start collecting the info. We know that certain groups of demographics have been targeted by the tobacco industry and we need to know that our advertisements and essentially our services are reaching that demographic. It's actually more important than you would think because as a state entity we need to show that our services are reaching all within our state especially the targeted demographics. IF they actually use this info in a beneficial way is yet to be seen. Let's see if they actually target the gay community with advertisements if we can show we aren't reaching that population.

I poke fun at the idea of an SNL skit but I think that most of our questions are appropriate and or necessary.

Because SNL is based in NY I think that this type of skit would be especially funny. I will probably black out this journal because I really don't want my job to think that I am selling them out to SNL.

I would like to add are you (e:) closeted or on the D.L

metalpeter - 07/21/10 19:01
I can just picture David Spade (hasn't been on in a long time) "being gay won't get you any patches quicker". I can picture andy dick calling in, "I need help I stoped smoking but now I smoke pole everyday" "Sir your not fooling me, you do that every day, if you wan't to the patchs send us your blow", HA.......

Seriously though I can't think of any good reason to ask about someone's sexuality. I don't see how it could be helpful.

But since you asked I'm stright. I love women and ladies and pretty girls, and men do nothing for me at all. That being said in media (pictures, movies and porn), it is nice to see a good wang when it fits. In porn the bigger the better but it is odd when it is soft and bigger then my arm, HA
leetee - 07/21/10 16:33
very versatile if the answer is bi....

Shit fuck-sorry it's just how i feel
The smoke from this industrial fire is going right into my windows. I hope the air isn't too toxic.

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - Fire is destroying an industrial building on Elmwood Avenue near Hertel in north Buffalo.

Fire crews were standing on the roof of adjacent buildings to try and quash the flames, but had to pull back as the intensity increased. They continue to fight the blaze at this hour, and News 4's Jericka Duncan will bring us the latest on News 4 at 10 and 11.

I just closed all my windows. I just got home from a bike ride and saw it going into the air. I feared it would be an industrial fire.
libertad - 07/20/10 16:29
What scares me about it was that it was an industrial fire. You gotta wonder what is in that building that made it burn like it did. I woke up at 4am drenched in sweat and so I got up to open my windows back up! I think that the wind was going in just the right direction to have it blow over my apartment.
lauren - 07/20/10 11:06
we must practically be neighbors...we could see the huge plumes of smoke filling up the air from our front yard and then listened to the scanner to try and find out exactly where it was. luckily it wasn't a building where there were people, but that smoke was pretty nasty!
vincent - 07/20/10 00:08
Sorry about the inferno polluting your air :-(

Airport bars ROCK! I've had some happy times in them over the years. Thanks for posting the skit that is so funny and realistic, at least in my abnormal world...
libertad - 07/19/10 21:57
The second part of my title comes from SNL skit with Molly Shannon where she is in an airport bar on a blind date. :::link:::

I hate crappy landlords
I really hate my building management/owners. It really pisses me off how badly I have been treated by them. I pay my rent every single month on time or early since October. When I moved in I had an awful experience with the maintenance men and with the entire process of getting essential and not so essential repairs. This weekend I called the emergency pager...

I got home yesterday and noticed that there was water dripping down from my bedroom window frame. Definitely something was wrong. I am wondering if maybe someone upstairs left water running or was having a plumbing issue so I call the emergency pager and let them know what is happening and that I would go upstairs to knock on the door to see if anything was wrong. It turns out that the girl's air conditioner was not placed properly and the water was running down through the walls into my apartment. So more than 24 hrs have passed by and nobody responded to my emergency page.

As much as I like my apartment I really can't wait to get out of here. I hate being treated like trash when I don't deserve it. When I do get out of here I am going to make a journal about what jerks these owners are and I am hoping to make it googleable. They really truly disgust me right now. I may be here for a while so I am hoping nothing goes wrong between now and when I move out.
ladycroft - 07/18/10 14:36
go live in one of my friend's (former landlord) apartments, he's super duper awesome!!!
vincent - 07/17/10 22:38
This site is does show up in google searches.
tinypliny - 07/17/10 21:25
Sorry to hear that, (e:libertad). You could consider moving into one of the buildings run by the BMG. They may be slightly greedy about rent-raises, but they have always been super responsive to my maintenance complaints. I have called them at very late hours and either they send someone to check it out or if no one is available, one of the managers comes around to resolve the issue. The last time my sink overflowed, the manager of Elliot came around to bail out all the water and apply a temporary fix himself. I saw the manager of my building at 11:30 PM the other day when he was trying to help my neighbour 3 doors down with his sink troubles. They always have been rather courteous about mostly everything. So, I do have a good opinion of them - maybe one of the reasons I have not moved in spite of the constant rent increases.
uncutsaniflush - 07/17/10 19:53
I'm sorry that you have crappy landlords. I've experienced a few bad ones myself. The thing that always amazed me about bad landlords is that they don't give a shit about their tenants OR their buildings.

If you think about it, you are doing them a favor by telling them about the problem. If they don't do anything, they might have some major water damage to repair.
