This was my National Geographic pic of the day today:
And that led to this youtube vid:
Is this not the craziest thing ever? One car would be pretty insane. But 2 bikes and 2 trucks, with everyone hanging out the window mugging the cameras?!? Wow.

Let the Force be with meI went to Thursday at the Square with (e:southernyankee). We had a blast, despite the rain. She took this pic. It is supposed to be a secret that I am a powerful Jedi, but I guess I let that cat out of the bag.
We then hit the town. For free drinks at Omega, sorry for showing your asses up, silly white chippe-bitches who stole our table. But if you can't move that ass then move that ass! Then to Mohawk, where we waited for a band, which turned out to be less than worth the wait. My umbrella is hopefully still there. Then on over to Allen St. We met a character outside Ohm. He/she was trying to show (e:southernyankee) how to shake it like Shakira. Her/his friend kept telling her/him to watch out cuz her balls were gonna fall out. All in all a wonderful Buffalo night with a wonderful Buffalo expat. Come back soon chamycakes!

Speaking of the bible...Category: plague
...anyone else noticed the plague of moths that has descended upon Buffalo?
We've captured like 50 in our house the last couple days (from a window upstairs we left open...and from the bastards climbing through our mail slot). And, they're just everywhere outside. Swarming around trees and light posts. Now I know we have our homegrown plagues...the week of spiders...the five days of mayflies crunching beneath our boots...and that one special day where all the winged ants come out of nowhere. But, I can't seem to recall ever seeing so many moths swarming at one time. Is it a sign that the end of days is near? Yeah most likely. You might want to take an ad out in This totally legit website (modeled after the horrendously popular series of books) allows you to leave messages for those poor souls you knew on earth who weren't quite heavenly enough to follow your ass into eternal grace. So they'll know how to correctly wax that gorgeous '69 El Camino you left in the front yard on cinder blocks. At least you don't have to feel bad for all the crispy charred remnants of moths left underneath your nightlight, after all you're the sad wretch left behind to clean up the mess.

YES - I'm not crazy! I have been going berserk over these stupid moths - I killed 5 of them that were flying around our hallway, just outside the door to our apartment. These guys seem like they are big ones too.

Plant a tree?Category: environment
So I was thinking of participating in the Re-TreeWNY program.
You have to join as a group and I was wondering if anyone else would be interested in creating an (e:strip) group to plant some trees.
It is a bit of a time commitment, but it there's quite a while until the actual planting to get your schedules organized.
We have to register by August 8. Then the dates are:
October 11 & 18 - Training dates - Locations to be announced
November 7 - Pick-up of trees by organizations
November 8 & 9 - Planting of Trees
So in reality it's only 2 maybe 3 days that you would actually have to show up. The first is a mandatory training session in October to show us how to properly plant the trees, so they can live and flourish and so forth. Then the actual day or two of planting, I guess depending on how ambitious we are. It's your chance to actually have a little bit of choice in the planning and beautification of our city. Each group is assigned a specific parcel, and we actually get to choose which types of trees go where on our parcel, pretty neat, eh?
So comment if you're interested so I can get a feel for how many are interested and hopefully we can do this.

I vote for trees that live for ages and ages, get really big and give plenty of shade.

That gives no shade to the weary traveler and bears fruits too far away to pick.

May not be able to make it on October 18 (maybe will on Oct. 11) but I love this idea. If you don't mind my tagging along, I am in. :)

Yes that is a bit insane. I'm guessing that once you get to the point of learning how to do it for the motorcycle it might not be to bad but for the cars that is crazy what happens if the motor stalls for just a second or change falls out of some guys hand and you run over it or something.
