estrip suggestions
Category: estrip
i'm not sure if i've made this suggestion to you before...or actually, i did, but it was a long time ago so you probably forgot. i was hoping for a link on a users' journal that links to comments that that they made recently or longer. Possibly the last 50 or 100?? but ideally to all comments made, chronologically since the time they joined.

i remember you did say that that was a possibility, but i don't know how feasible it is at this point.

let me know if this is something you're willing to consider.

btw, i reserve the right to make suggestions or requests as i still try to contribute periodically (or at least when i can remember)

  • remember when i asked you if you could look into having a payment plan for donations that users could sign up for and have a set amount of $$ collected from their pay pal accts, or debit cards, or checking accts?

i know that that would be something i would personally be willing to sign up for. i don't know about anyone else, but having a few dollars a month automatically donated to the site would be much easier to do than having to come up (remember the server drive?) with a larger amount of cash when things come up.

i also think you'd get a lot more donations as people would probably be willing to donate the price of a starbucks coffee each month if it was something they had done automatically, without any hassle or work and without having to think about it each and ever month. the process seems to be much more logical and more conducive to giving. we all know that two bucks is nothing. but having to remember or having someone ride you each month to donate the dollars (no not that kind of ride, (e:metalpeter)) would be annoying and cumbersome. i am willing to bet that a lot of us here would be willing to set up an automatic payment to the (e:strip) account for a couple of $$ a month without feeling like we were getting robbed. it would allow us to save some money for emergencies, special events or for advertising campaigns.

AND

since we really need to think about advertising and attracting new users, this would be a good step in that direction. maybe (e:paul), you'd want to make this into a journal or i can post it as one of mine and get a discussion going on this topic to see where everyone else stands?

anyone else reading this...any thought?

ok...i'm going to click on the "donate" button now.
paul - 03/03/09 17:38
Private journals are definately against estrip's goals. I totally am not being mean about it, but it is everything that estrip is not. There are plenty of other sites that have private blogs if that is what you want.

Imk2, the comment history thing is comming soon.
jenks - 03/03/09 17:29
i'm all for a monthly sponsorship.

And as far as suggestions- One I've been thinking of lately is the OPTION to make your journal viewable ONLY to peeps who are logged in. Maybe that goes against the 'mission' of estrip... but the more i put out here, the more paranoid I get about random family/friends/dates etc finding my journal, and I find myself censoring.
mrmike - 02/26/09 21:56
I'm just reading these now and you make good points. I readily admit to just forgetting to kick in, which (despite sharing Peter's fear of auto deduction)I've since corrected.

Thanks for speaking up.
paul - 02/22/09 22:47
Okay now you can click the sponor button and choose any rate per month that you want and can afford. I just had to figure out their API to make it work.
metalpeter - 02/21/09 09:42
First of all I love that you mentioned me that way in your post that was awesome it really was. I like that you know how I think.

Second of all those are both really good ideas. I my self wouldn't do the deduction thing, but I think a lot of people would. My reason is that I don't ever do automatic deductions on any of my Bills or anything on line. The reason is that if you forget about it, it can mess up your account. But I think for other people it is a really good idea.

One thing I would like to add to the comment thing is another stat. It would be nice to be able to see how many words are in a comment and how many words each person has. Not sure if you would want to count those words into the total word count or maybe just keep them separate.
tinypliny - 02/21/09 07:56
I am with the lower denomination idea.
imk2 - 02/21/09 02:57
come on guys!

no one has anything to say about this???

that's it, i'm making a post out of this comment i was about to make.

imk2 - 02/20/09 20:04
well, i cannot afford 10 a month, but 5 def i could do. but i think other people need other options of just a few dollars a months, 2, 3, 5, etc. but lets think about more than just covering the server costs, let think about setting up a nest egg.
paul - 02/20/09 19:56
Thanks (e:imk2) for the ideas.

(e:jim) also suggested the sonporship donation thing. I added a new sponsor link at the top right. It allows you to sign up for a $10/month sponsorship. If 10 people do it, it would cover the cost of the server as I pay $100/month. Not tht I am complaining, to me it is worth $100/month to have a commerical free space on the web.

The comment thing will definately be in the new verison coming up. By default it shows the last three comments posts on your blog and the last three you wrote for other people. Then you can click for more.

Poor Rihhanna - Beating photo
So just about everyone has heard about Chris Brown's alleged beating of Rhihanna last week. Finally, a photo has surfaced of what she looked like shortly after the assault. As sad as this photo is, it is probably not entirely indicative of her injuries, as the REAL bruising and swelling doesn't kick in until at least a day or two have passed.

For those of you who are not aware of Rihanna, she is a pretty big pop "sensation" that has blown up in the last few years. I actually am a pretty big fan, mostly because she has the balls to sport a short hair cut and has kick-ass fashion sense. She IS the reason the bob has come back into style as she was the first one to sport it, followed shortly by Katie Holmes.

So here is a pic of her on a good day.

image

She is also one of the few black artists to kind of embrace the whole emo/quasi-goth fashion style. As lame as emo is...it is popular among white, middle class, teenage america. I think her popularity is largely due to her ability to identify with that sector of the population which she's done more through fashion, than her music.

Observe her video for her super big hit, "Disturbia". Not only does she look fun-fucking-tastic, but she definitely is calling out to the Columbine-esque, Marilyn Manson, tween idols ...that are just hitting puberty and gaining access to mom and dads medicine cabinets and bank accounts before heading off to Hot Topic and a catching a screening of SAW X.

Regardless, this is a kick ass video. Look at the costumes, make-up and film cinematography and editing. It makes me want to have Halloween parties every night. It is really, really well done.

And so here is the just released pic I snatched from perezhilton.com. It is supposedly taken right after her fight with Chris Brown. Perez also states that attempted murder charges are also being considered against Brown.

Again, I don't think this shows how bad she really looked. I've had some injuries (and one horrible one) where initially things looked relatively fine, and only in the next day or two that followed, was the extent of the injuries actually revealed.

Dude needs to start seeking repentance and treatment ASAP if he wants to keep himself out of jail and maintain a career.

jenks - 03/03/09 17:26
ok, retarded question that I should be embarrassed to ask... who is chris brown? besides the guy that beat up rihanna? is he a singer? i'm too lazy to google...
tinypliny - 02/20/09 18:47
Eh? Why did you think that?

She is so pretty though! :)

I just realized that I have actually heard this Brown character's songs before! Not that I want to compare Whitney Houston and Rihanna (because really, no one could ever come close to Houston's awesome voice) but wasn't she terrorized by another Mr. Brown as well?

At the risk of sounding like an old hag (which I am, anyway), all this is a sign of how relationships are built among teenage kids nowadays. When there is no respect on both sides, domestic violence will continue to rise and go totally under the radar. I am sure these pop stars are adored by tons of teenagers around the world. What an irresponsible example these so-called idols are setting...
libertad - 02/20/09 18:33
When I first saw this post I thought it belonged to (e:tinypliny)! Rihhanna is so awesome.
metalpeter - 02/20/09 18:28
First of all, all kinds of producers will work with him. You see it doesn't matter that he beats her, it is all about dollars and album sales and money. In both music and many other industries it isn't about if the person is good or not it is about if they make money. Chris brown makes money and he has talent in that kind of music so people will work with him. It isn't like he beat her up in a club they are together so it is a domestic dispute and many people still think it is between them and isn't there business and that is a valid point. This is going to sound mean and I don't mean it that way. But I think if Allayah was still alive she would still be making hits and not to many people would have heard of this girl. I'm not saying she wouldn't be a star but she would be no where near as big as she is now.
tinypliny - 02/20/09 10:33
That is so sad. :(
mrdeadlier - 02/20/09 08:56
His goose is cooked. Even if he were to get off scott free (and I don't think he will), no producer is going to work with him now.

02/05/2009 22:54 #47652

It has started already
I'm like a bad episode of Sinefeld. What is wrong with me?
jenks - 02/06/09 23:20
got your message(s)- let's chat when I get back.
tinypliny - 02/06/09 08:59
Oh and for the record, I don't think anything is wrong with you. Probably, all those people deserve it.
tinypliny - 02/06/09 07:35
Imk2: I am taking your mom out on a date whenever she wants to go. (Read: when she wants to drive me. hehe) You are welcome to join this super-awesome date! :)

Aishwarya beats Angie any day

This woman really is THE most beautiful woman on earth. Seriously look at her, it's perfection.

Plus she's loaded. She's the face of L'Oreal, Coca Cola and DeBeers Diamonds and the #1 box office star in the world. Bollywood films reach about 5 billion people world wide, twice that of Hollywood. She grabs about 15 million a film and she's got about 40 of them.

hmm...the yellow pic is my favorite one.
mike - 01/25/09 17:52
omg i love her too!!! I saw an interview once and she was already a huge rich star but she still lived with her parents and stuff cuz she liked to make her parents happy and that was the tradional way to go. SHe also doesn't kiss on film. she is sooo pretty!
metalpeter - 01/25/09 11:53
Love the lips on that last shot, even though not a fan of the color. With out being gross she is so hot there are all kinds of sexual acts that I would find gross that I think I would let her do to me. I really like the first one to. I can't really say who in the world is the most pretty. It is like saying what 10 out of 10 five star person is the hottest but she is pretty hot I just don't like that one picture where she is dressed in Yellow not sure why though.
ladycroft - 01/25/09 07:12
have you seen 'bride and prejudice'? she's in it, and it's hysterical!
tinypliny - 01/24/09 23:28
Her eyes are a trifle lighter shade of green than yours. :)

Probably looks better without all that endorsement caked on paste on her face.
james - 01/24/09 20:46
Those eyes could replace the moon.

1. Sometimes I dream that I am in love with someone who I don't have feelings for and end up liking them because of it.

9. I used government issued food ration cards for a good part of my childhood, while living in communist Poland. There was never enough food.

10. The first time I saw a black person was when I was 9.

11. I wake up my daughter with kisses and hugs every day for the past 15 years because I hated when my mother would yell and scream at me to wake up.

13. All of my bed sheets, blankets, duvet coves, bed skirts, etc. have to match.

14. I only use down pillows.

15. I cannot stand men who cannot eat properly with a knife and fork. ( knife in right hand, fork in left and never putting down the knife)

17. I wish I'd like to smoke weed.

18. I don't listen to music because it makes me too emotional.

19. I believe I will never get married because I don't want to work hard to make a relationships work.

25. My ex girlfriend was the best boyfriend I've ever had.

26.(bonus) During the summer I often forget to wear panties.
metalpeter - 01/28/09 18:48
#7 is pretty awesome, not that I know any strippers

#15 I think I eat with my right hand. Lets see when cutting meat I think I use the left hand and then once I cut up all the meat set the knife down.

#25 and #26 are kinda interesting when you put them together.
