meerkat manor is bringin sexy back
Category: good times
awesome time last night guys! you are all wonderful and fun people!!
thanks for such a wonderful time.. and thanks (e:terry) for making sure we went to the big scary lesbo bar...

for all those not in the know, last night we went... well... i guess we were barhoppin all over allen street! and i got to finally meet many (e:peeps)! and lauren and i both ended up being highly drunk. i don't know how you guys do it... i'm too old apparently... lol

today we woke at 11. we decided not to go up to visit my brother and hit the Wilson Field days. because i felt like poo.
then i got a call from said brother to let me know that if we were coming up and found him not there - its because he had to take his wife to the emergency room for splashing boiling oil from the chicken fryer on herself. apparently her neck has a lot of burns, and some burns on her arms... she was sent home with some burn cream and pain killers - but it apparently looks bad enough that she is going to have some serious scars...

then i check my myspace and find that my friend mel in florida fell on her dog and broke her nose.

and then i think i shouldn't even leave the house today - but no... apparently we are going to go check out the walden galleria (is this a bad idea???) because lauren wants to get some new clothes...

i hate trying on clothes... seriously...

anyway - tomorrow we will hit the elmwood festival...

OH and lauren bought us tickets to see ani difranco at her church in september. i don't know why i thought you would want to know that... but there you go.
oh and she is on the couch looking cute right now. lauren, not ani difranco.
fellyconnelly - 08/29/07 00:05
well they do have plants in there, don't they?
mike - 08/27/07 00:31
i love shopping! The galleria is good and expanded recently, it is the mall around here that has the most choices and stores. The Outlet mall though has good deals cuz it is outlet and also has a lot of stores but not as many as the galleria. I go to the outlet mall when i am in the mood to go "hiking". I don't relaly like the outdoors and am more about asphalt and at the outlet mall you can walk outside so I go there when I am in a "naturey" mood.
fellyconnelly - 08/26/07 10:52
hmmm i knew that vitamin E was good for the skin - just didn't know of it as a oil/roller form... interesting... maybe i'll pick some up this week and give it to her next sunday when i see her... i'd imagine you shouldn't put it on TOO soon...
james - 08/25/07 22:32
Vitamin E is a fat soluble vitamin. This means you can cram vitamin E into an oil base. A roller is just a vial of E oil that you can uncap and roll over an area. It helps with healing the skin. I don't know how bad the burns are, but this should help recovery some.

And the outlet mall has good deals as well as a big selection. I hate people and I hate commerce. So I try to avoid shopping as much as possible. grrr
fellyconnelly - 08/25/07 21:58
we thought about it... perhaps we will make it up there at some point - but is it better deals at the outlet malls? or just a greater selection?

and (e:james) what is a vitamin E roller? does it work? i'm assuming it works since you just suggested it... but yeah
james - 08/25/07 19:59
Yikes! Tell your brother to get a vitamin E roller for the poor woman.
jenks - 08/25/07 17:59
I'm not really into shopping either, but as far as malls go I think the galleria is pretty decent...
jim - 08/25/07 17:48
20 minutes away in Niagara Falls, there is a semi-decent outlet mall :::link:::

going out?
Category: good times
lauren and i are considering going out tonight
on allen street somewhere
just for a couple of drinks...

anyone care to join us? or have suggestions as to where?
james - 08/24/07 18:58
Well, I will put my vote in for Coulter Bay on account of the Blue Moon and headache. As if somehow the magic of one will dispel the other.
drew - 08/24/07 18:31
I think the ball is in your court on that decision. Read the reviews and pick one!
fellyconnelly - 08/24/07 18:19
okay so did you guys decide where we are going yet?
i'm going to go relax/have dinner... i think i'm getting a headache which is NOT good... pooey
james - 08/24/07 18:17
Coulter Bay has Blue moon on draft.

:::link:::
james - 08/24/07 18:15
It doesn't look like they have blue moon
:::link:::
that is their beer/wine list
janelle - 08/24/07 17:30
Drew thinks they might have it bottles, but neither one of us is sure.
fellyconnelly - 08/24/07 17:27
here is a deal breaker... does the hardware have blue moon? i'm an addict and if i don't get my blue moon fix i'm afraid i'll be plum crazy.
drew - 08/24/07 17:25
We can be at any bar you name after 8pm! We even started pre-gaming!
lauren - 08/24/07 15:54
Awwwww! Ya'll are so sweeeet.
Ok, but seriously folks...we are talking a not to late, only a couple and by couple I mean two or three at the most kinda night. It seems to me that there is some disagreement among those who wish to accompany us...now please don't fight even though we are so very cool and all...hehe, yeah, but where to go? We have been to only one bar on Allen so we are open to whatever you suggest. Do respond.
jason - 08/24/07 14:59
Colter Bay (B+): I like it there. They have a version of the "Group Therapy" that keeps the 6 shots of whiskey but replaces typical bar beer with Stella Artois. Muy delicioso. Mixed crowd. I think there is a dart board. Has a patio, and the inside I would say is spacious enough for me. I would say above average beer variety, average liquor quality. Overall it's a pretty good joint, my favorite of the three by a very small margin.

Hardware (B): For me, the best atmosphere of the three, although it does get very busy and very crowded because of the small size of the place. Nice music usually. Pretty good selection of booze of all kinds, although they don't have all of the beers that I like (within reasonable parameters, I don't expect all bars to carry St. Bernardus Abt 12). Stocked with hipsters, posers and wannabes who want to look classy drinking wine, although they wouldn't know the difference between a Chateau Lefite and a Chateau Elmwood. Go ahead and try to find a parking spot, I dare you. Overall, a nice joint to visit and get a little saucy, once you get in the door.

Mother's (B-): A misanthrope's paradise. The most upscale of the three, with the best booze selection. If you like whiskey, they have Oban, which is the only reason why Josh would ever go to Mother's. Filled to the fucking brim with wannabe trophy wives, effete fakesters, and all sorts of people I despise. Oh yeah, and you're forced to deal with them too, because usually it's packed like you're in a cigarette box. As a result it is difficult to get drinks. Usually I can stand about 30 minutes there before compulsively wanting to leave. Remove all of that, and you have what could be a very, very nice upscale bar. Just get your fantastic booze and keep your elbows out.
jbeatty - 08/24/07 13:56
Oh btw if you guys are still out after I get out of work I would love to go. Although I shouldn't be out to late because Im going to Syracuse to work in the morning.
james - 08/24/07 13:47
I disagree with my two learned colleagues. You aren Lauen seem not only uncool but Hardware smells like wet dog.

  • BANG* *CRASH* *POW*

ahem, now that my evil twin has been defeated but lives to fight another day, I will beg and whine to see if (e:Jim) would like to go out.

And Coulter Bay has delicious, delicious sweet beer.
jbeatty - 08/24/07 13:19
I agree with Janelle, both about the supremely cool part and about Allen Street Hardware. Mother's is pretty cool as well although kinda pricey imho. Colter Bay has some really good beers on tap as well.
janelle - 08/24/07 13:14
Depending on the time, you might be able to persuade (e:Drew) and myself to go, especially since he has declared you and Lauren to be supremely cool, lol.
We've both been to and enjoyed the Allen Street Hardware Cafe.

Category: daily grind
we went to tops and put together the greatest trail mix in the world.

and now i'm attempting to make some stuffed chicken parm.

then i'm going to attempt to do some painting. left handed.

and then its strawberries/blueberries and cream bitches.

oh what a packed day i've had.
fellyconnelly - 08/23/07 19:14
ahh.. my second guess would have been the strawberries/blueberries and cream - but then i thought... well that is the recipe...
tinypliny - 08/23/07 01:27
LOL, I did indeed mean the trail mix. :) But your recipe for the chicken parmesan sounds awesome. Hmmmm... I could just substitute tempeh for the chicken and I would have a perfect veggie dish!
theecarey - 08/22/07 20:30
mmm next cold day I will curl up with a plate of that chicken yumminess.

maybe Tiny meant the trail mix? nah, I think she's gone carnivore on us. Anyone ever see, "Ravenous"? hahaha
fellyconnelly - 08/22/07 11:29
stuffed chix parm:
flatten chicken
coat with (whole wheat?) flour
dip in egg
coat with parm cheese/breadcrumb mix
lay flat and load up with cherry tomatos and mozzarella
roll up
saute till golden brown
bake in a pan of lovely marinara sauce and mozzarella.
serve with your favorite spinach whole wheat pasta

but i thought you were a vegetarian?
janelle - 08/22/07 08:20
I have some blueberries if you need some ;)

vet help?
Category: questions
okay guys i need a referral to an inexpensive vet.

Maxx seems to have some type of cut on his chest that hasn't healed in the past week, so now i'm getting worried. help?

also keep in mind that i haven't started working yet - so remember - cheaper is better!
i know i'm a cruel mommy.
mk - 08/21/07 09:51
I don't really know how their prices compare, but my family has been taking our dogs to the Blue Cross Animal Clinic on Main near Eggert for almost 30 years (wow that's a long time...). I assume they're good...our dogs have always been healthy, and the people are really nice. However, it's out in Williamsville area, which may mean $$$! Just wanted to let you know.
fellyconnelly - 08/21/07 00:46
thanks all,i'll be callin around in the mornin to these places....
of course shots are not the expensive part... our cats are hypochondriacs. they take turns messin eachother up so they can go to the vet.. sick bastards.
james - 08/20/07 18:43
Buffalo Small Animal Hospital is the vet for our kitty and dog. I have taken the cat there once and it was like $30 for all sorts of stuff including shots. It seemed inexpensive to me, but I don't know much.
zobar - 08/20/07 16:34
We've taken Chita Rivera to the newish Kenmore Animal Hospital [1231 Kenmore Ave, 200-4879]. I don't know how their pricing compares, but their vet is totally zen.
