Will I be a bills fan again?
Category: football
Okay so ten years ago I moved from the Thousand Islands in waaaay upstate NY to New Paltz, NY in order to go to college.
this move marks the time in which i severed all relations to the Buffalo Bills.

I went from knowing everything to knowing nothing. I came from the era of Bruce Smith, Thurman Thomas, Jim Kelly, Lofton, Reich, Tasker, Hull, etc... man... those were the days that i thought the world was ending on a byweek. I was left elated, and deflated every sunday and the occasional monday...

then... nothing... i didn't even watch football. i might have even forgotten how the whole thing worked... even if i wanted to watch football, i would have been surrounded by giants and jets fans. my heart wasn't in it.
well now here i am... in buffalo. what a perfect opportunity to regain my interest in football, right? relearn all the players? watch every game and maybe even GO to one? oh what a concept!

only problem is that lauren hates sports. Hates the competativeness of it all. (obviously this doesn't apply to when she plays frogger or scrabble)

so now i have to convince her that it is all in good fun. or i should just give up. she has already said she is more likely to get into hockey than football - but i don't care enough about hockey... so... only time will tell i guess...
fellyconnelly - 08/17/07 13:39
i know there was a coed frat - mostly was theater students and whatnot - lauren's bro was a member... but it did use greek letters so i'm not sure...
jenks - 08/15/07 20:16
totally off topic- but you do know anything about a coed fraternity in New Paltz? Apparently it doesn't have a greek name... I just know a friend was (is?) in this fraternity, and has a shirt that just says "new paltz alumni" which I thought was weird.
fellyconnelly - 08/15/07 17:48
and james - the Dungeon Masters rule may or may not have made more sense to me than I will ever let on.
fellyconnelly - 08/15/07 17:32
oooo this is gettin good!

but really lauren will be way too busy with school and books and whatnot... so - all the time in the world i get!
drew - 08/15/07 17:26
Hey, wait, Leetee totally slammed you, Drew, and you didn't get it.
And I have Gilmore Girls on DVD so I get Gilmore Girls time whenever, wherever...
janelle - 08/15/07 17:24
Oh, hell yeah, you're on the couch by yourself tonight, byatch!
jason - 08/15/07 15:46
Hahaha. Brilliant, Drew!
drew - 08/15/07 14:52
She agreed to the deal when we got married. It's not my fault she didn't realize the NFL would outlast some crappy-whiny-girl show.

Dang. Now I sleep alone tonight.
leetee - 08/15/07 14:49
psstt... (e:Drew), that deal you have with (e:Janelle) kinda bites. The Gilmore Girls had the final show in the spring. How fair is it you get to watch all new NOT re-run sports and all she gets is re-runs of the world's best show?!
drew - 08/15/07 14:37
Ditch lauren and watch football. (E:Janelle) and I have a deal--she gets to watch Gilmore Girls and I get to watch football. Maybe Lauren would like to watch some old gilmore girls DVD's with her, and we can watch football. (Although I like watching the Steelers more, I plan to keep up with the Bills since I am a Buffalo guy now.
james - 08/15/07 14:03
There has been a few changes to the game since you left. For your benefit I will list and describe them below:

The 40-yard rule: If the ball is within 40-yards of the opponents goal, it is considered off-sides and control of the ball is given to the other team.

Never too late for sandwiches rule: In the event that the highest paying endorsement by any member of the home team is exceeded by the guest team that member of the guest team will provide endorsement for a local eating establishment, free of charge.

Dungeon Master's rule: if referees cannot come to an agreement a single member of each time will do combat with a Dungeons & Dragons character each wearing banded armor and caring a 1D6 long sword. No saving throws for acid damage.
jason - 08/15/07 13:45
Both sports have their merits. Both force the athlete to make some very, very quick decisions. Both have hard hits. With football you have to deal with TV breaks every damn 30 seconds. With hockey that is not the case.

If you do go back to the Bills, I give you credit!
lauren - 08/15/07 13:40
Uhhhhhhh. Football sucks.

why lauren doesn't drive
(e:lauren) said i never let her drive.
so today i made her drive
and she gets flipped off by somebody....

i don't even know what happened - i was daydreaming with my feet on the dash looking out into the bidwell park and we passed a car and there was a big ol bird waving at us.

well i guess lauren is too crazy a driver...
lauren - 08/15/07 13:40
I did not deserve that bird!

all i want for christmas
Category: randomo
I want a 42" tall rectangular pub table.

due to the excessive height of our stools
we need a tall table.
it needs to be long and narrow to fit into the area that we need it to fit into.

if anyone has one of these laying around... well you just let me know.
thanks
fellyconnelly - 08/14/07 18:38
i do check craigslist occasionally... its funny because what we are looking for is so damn specific - we can't even find it online!
like a shower curtain that will match our bathroom - it eludes us!
chico - 08/14/07 13:20
felly,

I have had remarkable success finding desirable furniture, media, and electronics items on buffalo.craigslist.org this summer. Among the items I've located and bought from people who advertised on craigslist:

--IKEA coffee table
--vintage stereo speakers (garage sale found on CL)
--direct-drive turntable
--used records and CDs (various sales, garage and direct)
--IKEA bookshelf
--kitchen table w/4 matching chairs
--chrome baker's rack

None of these items has cost Ami or me more than about $30, most were less.

I'd scan/search the "furniture" listings each day, and if nothing turns up, maybe post a "table wanted" kind of ad. Check "garage sales" and "household" as well.

jobby job job
Category: good times
i guess i have a job. she said she would email me the offer letter anyway. thats fun.
i guess i was nervous during the first interview - she said i didn't really relax till the last ten minutes or so. okay, i guess i did better this time around...

anyway

we ordered from Just Pizza last night. Can I tell you that a Chicken Club Pizza is the most amazing pizza ever? i can't stop eating it. i had some for breakfast. and then i had another slice for lunch. it needs to be gone soon because i can't think of anything other than how damn good that pizza is.

and now we venture off to NOT ELMWOOD PET SUPPLY to purchase some cat food that doesn't list sweet potatos, cranberries and apples in their ingredients. We are horrible parents, but i think science diet is a just fine food for my horribly fat and lazy cats.

(E:James) and (E:Jim) - you must think us heathens to feed our kitties such crappy food (hehe)

later on peeps!
fellyconnelly - 08/13/07 21:00
i thought i was spoiling the hell out of my cat with science diet. but then i come from a long line of cat haters so i'm jaded.

i would love to give them nothing but fresh killed meat every day, but i'm no rockafella, i'm just a rock a felly.
(i made that up just now - i'm so clever.)
james - 08/13/07 20:13
We feed out (e:fuckingcat) only the highest quality in the $6-$10/lb range. Which excludes most of the stuff at the elmwood store. I like to know what ever ingredient in my food is, but not so with my cat.
leetee - 08/13/07 19:01
You would think Elmwood Pet would have all kinds of pet food. Huh, funny.

Congrats on the almost job! Great Birthday Pressie, a job!
libertad - 08/13/07 16:10
That does seem weird. Since when do cats eat sweet potatoes and things like that? e.pet supply does have Evo for them fatties. Its high protein Atkins type diet which makes sense for cats because I believe they are carnivorous. The worst ingredient I suppose would be corn which is your basic filler on the cheapest foods. At least you don't feed them Alley Cat.

lame ass
Category: good times
I'm lame and don't know what I want to do for my birthday.
Or where to eat. Maybe I'll just pick up some mighty taco and watch a movie. That sounds like fun.
god i'm lame.
fellyconnelly - 08/13/07 21:02
thanks for all the birthday wishes! as it is a leos custom to celebrate birthdays for more than one day, none of you are late!

its good to be the king!
james - 08/13/07 20:18
Happy St.Birthday to you.
chico - 08/13/07 18:17
Happy Birthday, (e:fellyconnelly), sadly late. Better late than never though, right?!

Cheers
jenks - 08/13/07 09:29
shit... I'm a day late and a dollar short, but
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

(and I still vote left bank for a bday dinner. At least, that's where I'd want to be taken.)
ladycroft - 08/13/07 08:10
happy happy birthday! (i say do video games :)
fellyconnelly - 08/12/07 22:10
well we just got back from the movies, and so now i'll take your advice and sit down with some blue moon and a game of scrabble.
cheers all!
drew - 08/12/07 19:29
If I may offer some pastoral advice:

give in to your peers. Drink.
jbeatty - 08/12/07 19:03
I agree with Mike, you should drink. Happy Birthday
tinypliny - 08/12/07 17:26
OOOhh, have an awesome year ahead!
jim - 08/12/07 16:42
Happy Birthday!
mike - 08/12/07 16:29
is it your birthday today! Happy Birthday!!! I think you should get drunk. Actually that is my advice for what to do on birhtdays, holidays, cloudy days, rainy days, sunny days, beach day, and weekdays...but I still recommend it none the less. HAPPY BIRTHDAY!@
