Apparently Artvoice has published one of my friend's photos without credit or compensation.
Does anyone know what she can do to get in touch with someone over there who will make this right?

Has anyone been to Urban Roots - 428 Rhode Island? it's like a co-op for plants.
Also (not at Urban Roots), found this crazy cool watermelon 'Moon and Stars' - this is what it actually looks like:

Urban Roots is doing a big plant swap this Saturday 10am to 2pm - people dig up stuff from their gardens that they don't want / need (not weeds of course), and bring it in and people can trade or take what the need.

funny, I just saw the sign for that place yesterday. I was just thinking about how I want to grow tomatoes and basil this summer and maybe a couple other herbs, in pots on my back porch. (that's about as ambitious as I get)- and was thinking I'd go to home depot for them, but that sounds way better. Thanks!

Cool... I just ran into a woman I know who is on the board of directors at Urban Roots. I didn't even know that they were starting a co-op. I'll have to stop by and do shopping for the garden behind my house there. Thanks for posting this!

They have the infamous Russian Black tomatoes and the Green Zebras. Both look awesome. I am going to save my schekles and pick up a few flats of crazy plants.

theecarey - there was a great version of this image, but instead of a girl and a pony, it was john kerry and the presidency. But I can't quit seem to find it now.

I figured I'd start off with that to make it clear I don't expect anything.

Paul - don't know if you are still paying attention to this post, but what about allowing users to mark their (e:strip) account private, which would mean that all their journal pages would include a no-index meta tag to keep private stuff off of Google/Yahoo?

I doubt I will switch to use another markup system as I have used this one in many systems and my users are generally familiar with it.
Gosh, I hate to be such a downer on change but I have used this system for years and have added lots of new options, but the chances of switching to another system is very low. I could add other specific options if you want.
The newer version of my textBling code (what estrip uses) has support for tables and lists. I could opensource that instead!?

PinPalsCategory: internets
I started a blog about a technical topic, and I tried googling the name of it to check my search rankings. That lead me to a site for finding gay prison pen pals (I swear accidentally!).
But the site is full of homo-erotic imagery and is sort of bizarre, especially this page: in which a gay man with a nipple ring is in prison reading the Turner Diaries.
Now, I am not sure if you are familiar with the Turner Diaries, but it is basically a white power manifesto.
Something strange is happening here.

The only part of the house that's done... the rest is still a mess.
Moving all our stuff makes me realize how cheap (e:james) and I are. We got all our furniture at thrift stores or used. It doesn't look too bad... a little threadbare maybe, but we spent less on all of our furniture in the whole house then some people spend on a couch.
It does take a while to look around and find just the right things though, so that you don't look too much like poor college kid ;)

and I don't like furniture at all.

Thank you, Felly, MrMike, Leetee :)
I was a bit unsure about the 'orange and blue' thing but it seems to work OK.

Looks good! Don't say you're cheap with your thrift store stuff -- tell people you are into shabby chic eclectic!

This type of thing is one of the major reasons I limited the image size on estrip. No one could ever really print/steal anything at 400 x 300 resolution, yet it is enough to tell a story.
What?
There is one very important detail that is being left out here that is a big factor. Who Submited the photo. If the person who took it did then they should get credit for it. However if it was a picture that was posted on the web first then often the oringinal photographer loses credit because the site can have rights to the pictures. I have no real advice other then to say that artvoice does have offices and must have a phone number you can call.
