The only part of the house that's done... the rest is still a mess.
Moving all our stuff makes me realize how cheap (e:james) and I are. We got all our furniture at thrift stores or used. It doesn't look too bad... a little threadbare maybe, but we spent less on all of our furniture in the whole house then some people spend on a couch.
It does take a while to look around and find just the right things though, so that you don't look too much like poor college kid ;)

Granted i can't tell how those white walls look but other then those the place looks great. I have to disagree on the carpet though. Yeah wood floors (if they are in great shape) assuming that is what is under the carpet is great. But soft rugs (assuming again in good shape) are better. Yes they are hard to clean. But in winter they are warmer. Also if they are soft people can lay on them and be comfy and not cold. But that is just my preferance. Rugs are also a good way to help protect the floors. Some home owners will belive it or not tear up the rugs and switch them after every long term tenent.

I really wish we could tear up the carpet.
Jenks: hello!
Felly: Thanks :)
Museumchick: Fireplace doesn't work - we'll put candles in it or something
JSL: yeah, we don't have to replaster - you should have just moved instead of remodeling :)

Before the couple we rent from bought the house it was owned by an ancient Italian grandmother who was seemingly blind and into LSD. Note the pasely wall paper in the entry room. The back stare well looks like Charlie Brown's shirt mutated in a Burrough's novel.
Wallpaper aside the place is awesome.

The panelling of the house looks nice. Plus, it's great you'll have a fireplace.

Looks great! Seems from the pictures that it will require less work than my house which I just blogged about on this site! If you need a sledgehammer, though, let me know. ;)

Years in the making.Category: the internets
The photo group that I moderate on Flickr has 326 members, although of course only about two dozen regularly contribute photos and discussion.
Why oh why is there always a couple people who so have to dominate everything and always make trouble? Why does everything always have to be about them and their position and just ME ME ME. How can someone constantly manage to be at the root of all the trouble in a group, and still have so many arguments about how it's not possibly about them, and how they're just a good person that somehow always gets conspired against?
Do you hear that Mister Anderson?
And so: I got out my ban-hammer today. Ka-smash.
That is the sound of inevitability.
Felt sort of good. But my stomach is in knots because it's going to be a shitty week full of emails back and forth and fall out.
Ugh. [s]326[/s] 325

Thankfully, some people are so stupid they would walk right into the greasy jowls of their own demise, as was the case. It was a long time coming, and he was a constant pain in the ass, always pushing the limits of your tolerance, stretching group rules to near the breaking point, and now he has flamed out and banished himself from the kingdom. Good riddance. Negative people who like to tempt moderators into kicking them out deserve the thor like smash of the ban-hammer.
And now I must remove anything incriminating I have ever posted or said to the group. I may have called for the beheading of all eskimos. But I swear, I only meant I wanted them in beehive hairdos!

and I don't like furniture at all.
orange and blue DO work... thats what my bedroom is currently....
(well damn at least i HOPE it works!)
Thank you, Felly, MrMike, Leetee :)
I was a bit unsure about the 'orange and blue' thing but it seems to work OK.
how very pretty!
aint nothin wrong with cheap... there are 800 gazillion tv shows on HGTV that teach you how to decorate cheaply...
you guys are off to a good start
Looks good! Don't say you're cheap with your thrift store stuff -- tell people you are into shabby chic eclectic!
