I'm putting our bed on craigslist
Category: housing
(e:matthew) was looking at houses online and saw this one on Summer. A bit out of our price range at $699,900. I find it ridiculous that the taxes are supposedly assessed at $5,544.00. That means that they are asking way more than they bought it for. As an example, our taxes on our $200,000 house are the same. The taxes on a $700k house are more like $17K.

I wonder what happend with them. Maybe they just were flipping it but it turns out their bed is also for sale on craigs list for $7000. (e:matthew) found it during his furniture sleuthing

Great looking bed. But with a bed that fancy you can only sleep in it with fancy clothes on. I walk by that place often. I know a few years ago there was some kind of buiness or vision or speach center in there.
zobar - 03/07/07 07:32
Those people cannot be for real. I bet the guy who owns it wears a stovepipe hat and walks with a cane and is always trying to screw George Bailey out of his life savings.

I want a pool like that!
paul - 03/06/07 22:46
Ya, that is a fabulous kitchen. I wonder what it would be like to have that much kitchen space.
leetee - 03/06/07 22:17
Kitchen envy!

Two Unmarried Men
Category: housing
We got the search from the house in the mail today. I find it funny that they emphasize how unmarried we are.

The thing that I don't understand is that a Mariage is a legal contract why can't it be between two men or two women. I understand that there are so many people aganst it moraly. But legaly (not that it would ever happen) What if someone who is stright wants to marry there best friend so they can both get the legal benifits. The other thing that I don't understand (i know this dosn't help the cause at all) but why is Polyligamey illegal. I can understand why Priests wouldn't want to do it. But it is a legal contract that I think as long as everyone is in the same state should be legal. I do understand that if you marry to many people legally it could get verry complicated but that isn't a reason to stop it.
leetee - 03/06/07 22:19
Personally, i think it's bloody crazy why you can't be married to Terry... or Matthew... or both of them. Unless you're just waiting for them to propose with a giant diamond ring!?!
uncutsaniflush - 03/06/07 20:58
The reason your deed and other legal papers specify this is because the laws covering a married couple who own a house together are different from those covering anyone else.

Often spouses have legal protections that an unmarried couple do not have.

For example, in the state of Tennesse, when (e:leetee) automatically became co-owner of the house I owned because spouses are automatically considered to have a 50 50 stake in the primary residence.

Even when my mom bought a house in Tennessee from a builder, the legal papers referred to him as a "married male" who was selling a house that was not his "primary residence."

How do they know you're not married to your work

Post Partum Depression
Category: work
How does this website have the right to sell my picture. I guess I probably signed away the rights when they did the Buffalo new article a couple years ago?

Do you ever have postpartum depression with a project you didn't really like at first but then you worked on it feverishly and it became an obsession.

I have been working on this large scale employee evaluation system since the beginning of time it seems. Mostly, because I had to consistently wait for things to be ready and because i am not the owner of the data.

Anyways, it was so boring at first. I really hated the project and then slowly as it grew it became kind of fun. Now that the project is wrapping up I am having a hard time being done with it, because I keep feeling like I could polish it up some more.

I am sure they will find things that need to be done with it once it "hits the shelves" tomorrow so I am not that worried.

The next project up is porting (e:strip) over to roswell software. That should be a much bigger project. The fun part is I only have about 3 weeks to do it!!!! What is up with project management here?

Ona nother note, apparently (e:terry) is most fertile.

NOT taking a bath may improve a man's fertility - even though it might not endear him to his partner.

oda - 03/06/07 22:55
what about dirty women?
ajay - 03/06/07 13:19
Not so fast. You may have given the Buffalo News the right to print your photo, but those rights may not be transferable. If you feel strongly about it, you can send an email to Merlin and ask them to take it off their list, or give you a cut from the profits.
mrdeadlier - 03/06/07 11:31
i am totally buying a $40 11x14 print
mike - 03/05/07 21:36
that's kinda crazy! Doesn't it make you feel kinda like a celebrity though!
zobar - 03/05/07 21:31
The roller girls were freaking out about this, too: Merlin-Net is the LexisNexis of news photography. They have a huge database of published news photos, which they mostly sell to other news outlets. They have a comparatively small side-business selling the same stuff to the public. The Buffalo News gets a small [I think 10%] kickback on Merlin's sales to the public, which is why they [used to?] promote it on their website. I guess if you're newsworthy people can sell your picture without telling you.

Another Food Journal
We saw this car with a silent service bumper sticker. I took a picture while driving because I wanted to remember to look it up. This is what I found . I don't believe that can be it because the license plate looked so official. It even had a miniture SS before the number. Maybe just NAZIs.

(e:lilho) flew on over to our house for our last homage visit to compusa before it closes, leaving Buffalo computerstoreless for the foreseeable future. Everything is 5-20% off right now. Mac stuff is only 5% off.

Here is (e:terry) looking oh so sad.
image

I was a typical visit to compusa, then we went to Michael's for (e:matthew) and lilho got her hawk on.

Then off to red pepper for dinner. Yummy vietnamese food.

Afterwards to feelright for some free goji juice tasting (WIKIPEDIA - Wolfberry)

I'm down with PHP, ya you know me
Category: programming
I never thought of targeting this market. I should write an OOP javascript and AJAX book for teens.

image

But why the pretty-boy? Maybe there are more girls programming nowadays but I have to say I never see them in the computer programming section in the bookstore. Maybe they are so smart they don't need books.

Maybe it's for gay programmers. I looked at the book because of him but I still think they would do better with a cute girl on the front or even a spaceship or a race car.

If I was straight I would be embarassed to have the book lying around the house.

robin - 03/03/07 16:34
that's funny.

casey was just taking about learning php. I bet a football player would attract him to the book.
