Various Excuses

1) A 27-year-old man, arrested in July after allegedly trying to rob a Bank of America in Enid, Okla., told police he merely intended to help repay the national debt.
- He would need a lot more then that to fix that problem

(2) A man, 18, charged with trespass in Tomah, Wis., in June after a woman awoke at night to find him holding her arm, told police that he had found the woman's keys in her apartment door and was just trying to return them.
-Could be true...But why would anyone go that far to return them. Also why was he so close to the house to see the keys?

(3) Man, 53, who was arrested for sexual assault on a mentally disabled woman in Madison, Wis., in June, explained the presence of his semen by claiming that he ejaculates when he sneezes and that, in fact, he was surprised only that his semen doesn't show up on many other patients, too. [KTUL-TV-AP, 8-3-04] [Tomah (Wis.) Monitor-Herald, 6-25-04] [Capital Times (Madison), 7-16-04]
- Makes no sense because if it were true then the semen would still remain in his pants unless ofcourse they were open...Which shouldn't have been. If so then there is a case against him.

Pre Handcuffed

Watertown, Mass., a playful Man, 23, accidentally locked handcuffs on his wrist at home in October, and figured they would know how to get them off at the local police station, but shortly after arrival, he was jailed because he had apparently forgotten there was an arrest warrant out against him. [Boston Herald, 10-15-04]

There is no way to give a opinion on a law or anything in this one since no law was broekn. But the criminal had commited one prior to these encounter so it fits in my blog. I don't understand how someone could forget there being a warrant out on them since they commited the crime and hid afterwards from charges. The law catches up to you in the end. Even if you need its help.

Corpse Customer

Two men and a woman, described in a Cape Times (Cape Town, South Africa) story as loan sharks, brought the corpse of Thozamile Patrick Apolis in a wheelchair into an FNB Provincial bank in June in an attempt to withdraw his pension (signing for it by "helping" Apolis move his hand across the paper), but a skeptical customer, who kept demanding that bank officials check for a pulse, scared off the three, who left the body behind. [Cape Times, 6-8-04]

This story seems like the kind you'd see in a comedy about mobsters. Amazing how it went so far. It took a customer to say something for the idea to back fire to. Was it a samrt choice to leave the body behind? There would be finger prints or any other DNA evidence linking back to them. Either way it would be hard to escape the scene with a person who was unable to move on their own. Besides that the dead body was identified and would be looked for. Whatever way this was suppossed to turn out any outcome would have been a bad one.

Stinks

A 36 year old employee a Golf Club in Kent, N.Y was arrested in September while sitting in a golf cart at night with a flashlight and a 20-gauge shotgun, after he had allegedly shot three skunks that were menacing the grounds. He was charged with various hunting violations and with carrying a loaded firearm in a moving vehicle. [Journal News (White Plains, N.Y.), 9-22-04]
The moving vehicle part really gets me. I see no where in the article that he had been driving it. It says he was sitting in the vehicle. Anyway the man seems to have been taking the skunk issue into his own hands and was determined to end it. Hunting is hunting either for fun or just to end a problem with the animals. Makes sense....Do you want someone killing your dog cause it went to the bathroom on their lawn? I don't think so.

Film police

Another law that soon died was the idea of having police being harmed in movies. I believe this law once existed in Wyoming. I did the research but due to my lack of not having my notes with me at the time do not technically know the exact location right now. It was once a law though.

It was alright to film the police being harmed but watching it was not allowed. I guess this case results in monkey see monkey do. If no one sees police get hurt then no one will want to go out and hurt the police. This case is just taking the issue at hand to far. Just because no one sees the movies where police get hurt doesn't mean the idea can't be brought up in different fashions. Such as the newspaper. You can obviously see that this law no longer exists. Just look at any action movie now adays. Even in child shows like the "Power Rangers" cops get hurt in some way.

What are you looking at

Believe it or not but it was once a law that a person was not allowed to make a face at a dog. It didn't say what the punishment was but I'm sure it was probably just a fine.

I don't see the need for this [s]law[/s] .Which is probably why it doesn't exist anymore. My guess for this law is so that dog bites in the state would decrease since dogs weren't approached in a certain manner that would make the dog hostile. After all you could still make faces at cats. That leaves me with the conclusion of this law only relating to dog's for safety sake. If it were a animal rights issue then making faces at any animal would be a crime.

Copy Cat

I'm sure everyone is aware of the tale of a woman cutting off a man's penis that dates back to the early 90's. Well lets just say it happened again. Not to the same man but one who some may say deserved or didn't deserve it. I heard the story many times over the radio and in different fashions. This is what I gathered...
Orginally I heard a couple were fighting and the male wanted to break up. The female then agreed and they both accepted the fact and decided to make love one last time. The female insisted on bondage as they usually did. The man layed tied and the female came in and did the dirty work. She cut his penis off and flushed it down the tiolet. It was later found in the sewers and was reattached to the man. The woman who did the deed drove him to the hospital and went back home to clean up the mess like nothing had happened.
I later heard a recap with new information on the case. The man was actually the woman's uncle and she was mad at the fact that he wouldn't leave his wife( Her aunt) for her. He then said in the dispute that he'd never leave his wife because the girl on the side was only good for sex. Which then lead to the chopping off of someone's member.
I understand that hate and revenge can make people do some terrible things but this story goes alittle too far. The woman was wrong as well as the man for being the woman on the side. She was the wife's niece and she still managed to sleep with the man. Then she cuts the man's penis off. Which could lead to many problems in the future besides just the present. Obviously the man would have difficulty using the restroom and having children. Every man has the right to at least have a child. And she almost took that away from him. I'm not saying he was the right one. I am just saying this situation was taken too far.

False Death

I was watching the Dennis Miller show the other day and heard the most interesting story. Luckily it falls in the catagory inwhich I write about on my blog so I thought I might share it.
A man wanted to get the money from his life insurance policy so he decided to fake his own DEATH by digging up a body from a cemetary and putting it in his car. Then to finish off his plan he put the car on fire. Sounds fool prove? Definately not. Turns out he was easily caught because he took a woman's corpse from the cemetary. He now faces many charges.
Goes to show some people will do anything for money. Even fake their own death. I think that he should get whats coming to him. First of all he was trying to cheat the government by collecting money for his DEATH . Then to top it off he pretty much destroys the idea of someone's proper burial by digging the person up and ruining the idea of resting in peace.

Dirty Dump

Location: Idaho
Date: November 2004

Story: A man was arrested for dumping dirt in a forest. Federal law prohibits unloading anything on federal land. Even for the sake of the country and the environment.

Opinion: I guess I have mixed feelings for this one. This law is good because for all we know the dirt could have some type of chemical in it that could cause harm to the forest. Yet if its only just dirt and nothing more I'd say just allow it. Dirt is a needed substance for plant growth and we need trees and plants to stay alive from the oxygen it produces.

Positioning System

Location: Vancouver, WA
Date: January

Story:
A 26 year old man was arrested for jumping into an idling 18 wheeler and driving off with the vehicle. The rig inwhich he had taken had a positioning system that made it easy to track. The man was quickly arrested.
He later admitted to police that he had taken a sip out of what he thought was the driver's coffee cup, but learned too late that it was actually the driver's tobacco spit cup.

Opinion: This article was taken from "Artvoice". I changed the wording around alittle and took out the man's name for identity sake.. As I will do with all the criminal names throughout this blog. Anyway this was all that was written on the tale which leaves me to say that the man was obviously caught and detained and only embarrassed himself more by saying that he drank tobacco spit. On top of that.... Why take a 18 wheeler?
He must have been influenced by that Super Bowl commerical that had P Diddy driving a Diet Coke truck. In the commerical all the other celebritys did the same thing to be just like P Diddy and be cool. See what Television does. haha
