So yesterday was valentine's day and I had a terrific time. I don't know why everyone gets so bent out of shape about it. "Awww, it's made up. Invented by Hallmark". That's a really horrible way to think of it. Sure, maybe the customs have been hijacked by the big corporations, but really that's no reason to hate it. Valentine's is what you make it, same as Christmas. I think it says a lot about a person to hate a day dedicated to love. Surely you could at least be happy for those people who do enjoy the holiday. But whatever, maybe it's not my place to say.

I finally got to see the Brokeback Mountain movie, and I really liked it a lot. I thought it looked really good too. Just the cinematography, the shots, everything. It totally made me forget about the Hulk, haha. I think I might buy it when it comes out on DVD, but I'm not totally sure yet. At least I'll rent it and hear what the director has to say.

So way to go Steelers. The first half of the game was shit, but the second half really picked up and made for a good watch. The Stones went alright though I thought they'd have a more interesting set list. I guess they always have to play satisfaction. It amzazes me that Mick Jagger is in as good a shape as he is. The Stones: A truly great band.

So the times, they are a changin'! I've got friends that are movin' on and away and I'm happy for them but sad to see them go. What can I say? I guess I'm a little bit of a baby when it comes to things like that.

What else? I'm trying to cultivate other relationships I have so I'm not alone on Valentine's (Sal-entine's depending on who you talk to) day this year. Basically what that entails is probably two dates prior to a date on Feb.14th. So I suppose I'd better put myself out there, but of course money is tight and I don't start my job until Sunday. I hope it pays weekly. God I need money. There are just too many beautiful girls out there right now. I'm pretty overwhelmed that some of them actually are eager to talk to me. Go figure.

I started writing some music today and I was really happy with it. I layed it down on a little microcassette as not to forget it. I have a friend coming over tommorow to play guitar with and hopefully it can be fleshed out a bit.

I've been tinkering with making stencils lately as I've got this new fascination with street art and pop art. I just dig clean lines and assemblyline efficiency. I was talking to a friend who's an art student and she was taken aback that I can do between 3 and 5 paintings a week. I don't think it's terribly difficult to do. I don't have any true fondness for them either so wasting time on getting every detail right just doesn't seem rewarding.

O! Last night I totally remembered something: I can figure out most combination locks just by holding them in my hand and tinkering (average time is about 3 minutes). I'm not kidding. I don't know how I forgot that bit of knowledge. I think the last time I really applied it was in the fourth grade. Totally weird. I found a couple of old Masterlock combination locks in the basement and just thought it'd be fun if I could still do it and sure enough i could. Pretty neat, but also pretty useless. haha.

I think that's all I really have for right now, but I would like to extend birthday wishes to (e:jessika)! happy birthday!

So I'd like to say that I got the job at the Lexington Co-op and I'm very happy about that! I begin work on Sunday and that's alright by me!

Lemme tell you about this dream I had last night. I was changing contact lenses in my dream and when I switched them, I switched bodies too I think. I became this really good looking red headed chick, though she was flat chested. It was very weird. My/her face was very pretty, I got to see it in the mirror changing contacts. So in the dream I was a little freaked out by the situation, but I don't remember it being super awful. I remember saying to myself that my body was temporary and that I wasn't allowed to touch my/her boobs (or lack of) because that wouldn't be right. So I woke up from that a little messed up. I think it must have something to do w/ the headache medicine i've been taking.

TANGENT

I've been having these really awful headaches and I don't like it one bit. I'm assuming they're sinus headaches because when I take sinus medication it makes life bearable once more. I can feel it in the back of my neck and above my jaws and in the bridge of my nose. If anyone has any suggestions about a possible sinus infection, I'm all ears.

Back to dreamland





So anyhow, I can't really describe the girl's/my face other than it was very pretty and there was red hair. I think she sort of looked like the red head from the film "Urban Legends", Alicia Wit, though maybe I'm stretching. Which leads me to another bit of thought: is it possible to dream a face you've never seen or does anything go in dreamland? Perhaps the face was an amalgamation of other faces or maybe it was somebody I subconciously recognized. I dunno. Well that's about all that's new w/ me for right now.

So today I had drawing class at 8:10 this morning! That is uber-difficult for someone like me who has NEVER been a morning person, but the class went well nonetheless. My teacher is painting the retirement portrait for Masiello and is mostly a painter by trade and I think that's cool. He mentioned that he has had exhibitions in the past and has more coming up in the future and I think that's cool. Maybe I can gain some tutelage from this fellow and he can give me some direction as to what it is I need to do to have a proper exhibition. He seems alright, he's a younger guy and name dropped "The Pink" so I can't imagine he's some hard ass.

Me and my dad made a 3'x3' canvas today and I can't WAIT to get started working on that one. I promise no more Clemente'-esque portraits, but rather something a bit more surreal, so look out for that in the coming week.

I'm seriously broke at present time and it seems that everyone wants to hang out with me this week (blah). I need to buy more art supplies for my class and pay my phone bill and a few other things I'm sure. I really want AND need that job at the Co-op and I'm praying that I get it. It's so close to school and everywhere else I frequent so that would be ideal.
