Kraftwerk

Today is Kraftwerk Day on Elmwood radio in tribute to the forefathers of electronica music. My Favorite song is "Pocket calculator." Listening to their music makes programming so fun, same with doing dishes.

Today On Elmwood Radio

Well, it's a late start due to some intense battles with jobs, houses, and crazed loved ones but the radio must go on.

Today, we are heading back to the 90s and playing the Lemonheads. Does anyone remember them? Luckily, I found some overly obsessed fan's web with everyhting you need to know about them.

This is how I remember them.

On the fan site I saw this picture of the lead singer. Here he looks like Axel Rose.

Radio Archives Live

Today I am playing live recording that we made at the 567 during various parties. You can also look forward to (e:shawnr) 's latest recording [inlink]shawnr,25[/inlink] in the set.

You should all check it out, however, please note there are vulgar words and sexually explicit lyrics, so be advised playing today's radio for children.

Muppets on the Radio

Does anyone have any ideas for the radio? I know it's already late but I am puttin the muppets on. There are a bunch of good old muppet songs. When I was little I loved the muppets. I used to dream about hanging out with them all the time. Once I wrote to Jim Henson as a kid and he sent me a letter back with an autographed photo of him and kermit. I still have it somewhere. He was a cool guy.

Now I am a little embarassed because Disney bought them out and I hate disney crap, so do I have to hate the muppets and their new corporate attitude. I mean they are puppets after all and do whatever the string puller tells them to do. I don't even think disney is that great, they just keep buying out great things. Look at the Nightmare Before Christmas Spirited Away , etc. Notice the Disney in both URls. So as a protest I will play their newly copyrighted by Disney Music from my children's tapes.

This is the image you find when you look up muppets.com

Brisk and Sun P.R.O.J.E.C.T

Okay, so these artists are really totally unrelated except that both of them make electronic music. It's as different as Rock and Roll and Jazz. If you don't like one, please still try the other. I am sure most of you would prefer SUN P.R.OJ.E.C.T.

Brisk
image

Real Name: Paul Nineham
Profile: Considered to be one of the best Happy Hardcore producers around, his label Next Generation with Dean 'Ham' Hamilton is one of the most respected in its genre. I used to love this guy when I was a kid. I would travel up to Toronto everytime to hear him play at Hullabaloo These Brisk recording are slightly low quality sound because they were dubbed from a live tape of an event I was at. They gave us a tape because we were dancing so hard and smiled a lot.

I saw them at a summer goa festival in Germany in 1996. I am sure their music is copyrighted but I am risking it in order to share it with you guys. If you like them visit there site at this or buy their CDs form Amazon.

Car Vs. Driver

I appologize for the lack of interesting programming the last couple days on the radio.

Today I am playing Car vs Driver for the whole day. Most of the songs are of the album Deja Greatful. They remind of Tugboat Annie with a little more energy. I believe you could classify it as emo but with more rock.

Here is a description of the Deja Gratewful Album from the web:

1st LP, a true fucking melodic emo rock blast and classic stuff - it rules!

I first heard about them when I lived in South Carolina back in 1996. My roomate Lauren was from Viginia and she had the album Deja Greatful. I believe they are form somewhere in the South but I am not sure.

One time back in 1997 I went to a Vegan Dinner in the Univeristy Heights area and they were playing a Car vs Driver album but since then I have never heard them outside of my minimal collection which I aquired on Napster in 2000.

Their album names are Lunchbox, Deja Grateful, and Out of a Silent Sky. I found that you can purchase Deja Grateful (album) here at this British store for 22 pounds. They never released CDs as far qas I can tell.

There is so little information. Here is a link I found on the web to one of their songs.

REM Bootleg Day

Today we are playing bootleg REM from bootleg tape cassettes. These are not just liev songs found on other albums, they are live songs that exist nowhere else. Some are compilations with bands such as The Golden Palominos, Natalie Merchant, and Billy Bragg.

image

Somewhere, I also have a dub of a vinyl Album named Georgia Peaches that a friend picked up in Georgia in the 80s but I have not converted it yet.
