We have a drum beat
Sorry it's just been me writing, it's the weekend and I work, so what better thing to do at work than update the band's journal.
Last night we had a very productive practice. As per my ad I threw up online on wnymusic.com, we met Nick. Bill sent him some rough stuff we had recorded and Nick agreed to come down and jam with us so we could get a feel of the music with some solid drumming. Did I mention that he's in a band already in buffalo. Undefined. check out their website if you want at . Anyways, Nick hit everything just right. It took a little bit for us all to warm up, but by the end of the night and a couple beers down the road. We had some rocking drums to our acoustic tunes. There's really nothing more to say, he was exactly what we were looking for right now. Though it sucks that he has a band, and we still need to find a full-time drummer. It's the only thing we are missing. We're also looking to hit up an open jam soon, so we can get out of the basement for a night or two. I think we are going to practice again monday.
BTW the new song jay wrote the other day, nick put drums to it, and I think it could be a radio song...i'm talking big hit. I guess we'll have to wait though.
Dan gone..

Tonight tonight oh oh
So I woke up to my alarm going off tonight followed by some music wafting through the house like the sweet smell of bbq on a lazy sunday afternoon. I thought it was the tv, but it wasn't so I went out the back door of the house to see if someone was playing music in our yard, but the sound actually got less and less as I stepped out onto the back porch. Then as I wiped away the sleep from my eyes I realized it was jay singing an unfamiliar tune. So I started doing the dishes, cause they were piling up, and jay came up stairs. He told me he had just written a new tune. He told me it was the one he was playing. So as I ate and did the dishes, I listened to him sing the song. I took a shower and when I was done bill had just gotten home, so we all decided to go get some beer and play for little bit.
I wasn't too hyped on the idea of playing, we played last night and it sucked, in my opinion, it just seemed like we were all out of sync. So I wanted to take a break, but jay seemed really eager to hear what kind of bassline I would write for his new song, so I promised I'd come down and play it for a little bit. I think my unconscious mind had already worked out a bassline, cause it only took me like 5 minutes to come up with something solid, that I can work with. I don't think I'll deviate too much though, I like how it sounds. We played a couple more tunes, but I had to roll to work. So here I am at work.
Later today (cause it's saturday) I think we're gonna have a drummer come down and help us with some of the songs.
I'm diggin the new logo. I can't wait to play out, I'm getting bored of just practicing all the time...short attention span or something.

Gripes
I'll start with myself - I have a short temper.
Dan is paranoid.
Jay is a defeatist.
We all get bored easily.
Jay's friend Matt was over last night with his girlfriend Tess. Matt has heard Jay belt out songs before but he wouldn't sing in front of Tess at first. ARGHHHH!! The killer is, the songs are written for vocals, without the vocals, they sound really repetitive. My new stance is, sing or I'm not playing. Not to be a dick or anything, but I don't like playing them without the vocals over them. It's time to move on.
What does my paranoia have to do with anything, before you photoshopped the picture I could've gotten in trouble, buffalo=small town. I could get fired for promoting the compitition, or atleast blacklisted, okay so I'm paranoid. As for bill saying he won't play he's half joking, i think, but we do need jay to sing the vocals all the time, in fact I think we all agreed to sit down and write some lyrics and finish up some of the 12 songs we've written.

Billy put a picture up of me in a shirt that I can't be seen wearing. That might cost me my job, so I had to delete this one.

The Search is On
So the search for a drummer is on. If anyone is a drummer you can contact us at our email below. I also put a classified ad up at . I've gotten 2 repsonses, one from a guy who's in a band, but said he'd come down and jam with us so we could get an idea of what a good beat will sound with our songs. Which is cool because we need to perfect these songs, ideally we want someone who doesn't have any attachments so we could have them all to ourselves, but hey we'll take what we can get for right now...the other guy said he's come down if we lived close, I haven't heard back from him yet :/
So the search continues, I 'd really love to bring in my old drummer from high school, he was amazing, but of course with great talent goes great problems. He basically dropped off the face of the earth, I remember once in high school he slept in a dumpster after running away from home, so he might be dead now, I lost track of him about 2 years ago.
Jay an I played a little but last night, I'm having mad problems with the chorus to one of the songs, it's like I'm missing a note or two, what sucks is that I'm not sure were the riff should go. I'm kind of mentally stuck on it. I think I might need to free up my head with some gin, or maybe this weekend after I work one of my long shifts the sleeplessness will help me. I also need to still get a set-up done on the bass, get new strings and have them adjust the action on it. My fingers are killing me from playing it. Although it might be all this typing I'm doing lately...nah it's the bass.
Rachel - thanks, i wasn't sure if it was a good idea but after some prompting from Paul and intrest in the idea from band mate and reality tv hater Bill, I figured we had to do this. Just wait till we start talking about practices, it's might get a little crazy here

Digging the Attention
Wow, we created this journal only 2 days ago and we already have over a hundred hits! I'd like to thank our boy Eric for volunteering his services to create a website for us. Eric has already started a design for a logo. Eric works for the same company Jay works for along with my brother-in-law Ian. Ian actually introduced Jay and me when I was in the process of buying my house last year. Funny how things turn out. We hope to be playing out again very soon, probably another coffee shop during an open mic or something. I'm working nights now and weekday evenings are pretty much out.
Thanks for the attention, and I hope to have something for you all to comment on really soon.

The spot jam and other intriging things
As for the second jam at spot, I was less nervous, although as billy mentioned I had a chick I was trying to hook up with come to the jam, so I was uneasy about that. It was packed at the second jam, but I felt more comfortable playing the songs. I didn't get hammered like bill and jay did, I just had a hot coco...how fucking rock and roll is that?..hehehe.
I really can't wait to play out again, I mean at that point we only had 6 or 7 songs that we could play as a band, now we have closer to 14. My big push now is trying to get a drummer. I had brought a friend of mine in for three practices and it just didn't seem right, he was a decent drummer, but everything seemed to sound the same. Not very inspired. As for now though I want to try and hit up another spot jam, or maybe even a paid show somewhere, I just want to play out and see what people think of the newer songs...newer being relative because we've only been playing as a cohesive band for like a month.
