are they really?
(e:dan) , I'm not saying you're wrong, I'm just not sure that I necessarily agree with you. I really feel that more people are reached by an online petition than would be reached if, say, 10 of us walked around the city knocking on doors. We would come across many people that aren't home, or are busy and don't want to be bothered, or are afraid to open the door because they think we are selling something, or are just plain afraid to open the door because we are strangers. Plus, people like myself would never even hear about it, because I live in one of those "secure" apartment buildings, where you wouldn't even be able to get in to knock on my door at all. By having the petition online, people can circulate it to people they know at work and at school. Also, maybe that way it will get passed on to people who live in the city, but might be out of town for some reason...or people that don't live right in the city but are frequent patrons of the restaurant.

bear with my many words today
Why is it that 80% of the people in this city are so self-absorbed that they cannot pay attention to anything that is going on around them? One: While riding my bike to school today, I got stuck behind two women riding slowly, which I would have tolerated on a normal day. These women had those stroller things attached to their bikes with kids in them. I'm ok with that, all for riding instead of driving, HOWEVER, the lady directly in front of me was smoking. Again, normally I don't care about people smoking, but she was blowing her smoke and trailing her cigarette right in her kid's face and also in mine. Then she just flicks the butt behind her, practically right into me. I don't believe for one second that she didn't know I had been right behind her for the last 6 blocks. Two: While riding my bike home today, some man sprayed me with a hose. He was facing me too, but he was too busy talking to his buddy to realize that people might want to use the sidewalk that he was hosing off. C'mon man, spray the sidewalk outside of Merlin's in the early morning like all the other businesses do. In his defense, he did say he was sorry, but he said it in the snotting "Why weren't you paying attention to my hose?" kind of voice. When I first got in front of him the hose was off, then he turned it on right on my leg.

(e:sqb) I am going to try to get as many people as possible to sign that petition about Pano's. I am fully in support of removing cars from the Elmwood scene, but I know it will never happen because people are too lazy and too attached to their pollution machines. My boyfriend and I are sick of hearing horrible blasting music and excessively loud motorcycles go by our apartment all day, every day, at all hours of the night. Granted, we are from the country and not used to all this ruckus, but I really think that the majority of car radios are too loud.

(e:springfaerie) That is one of the saddest things I have ever heard done to an animal. I can't even react to it right now, because my emotions are getting in the way.

emotional rollercoaster
I waited a couple hours and I thought they had come, so I ran downstairs but it was just some girl double parked with her SUV. I figured since I was down there I would check on the squirrel. Well, someone had removed the box! I saw what I thought was the squirrel pretty close to where I left it, so I ran upstairs and got another box and I wrote a note saying that the SPCA was coming to get it. I was really mad and very upset because I thought that some asshole had moved the box to be mean to the poor little thing and I hate this stupid city where I feel like nobody cares about anything that won't get them money. When I went back downstairs I saw the elderly man that lives down on the first floor back there and he said, "Did you find another one?" He told me that he had moved a squirrel just a few minutes ago over to near the tree. I said, "Oh man. The SPCA is coming to get them and they said to leave a box over it." So then I went back upstairs, having covered the second little baby. I still felt discouraged, because I thought they were never coming for the babies.
Finally three hours after I called, the SPCA came and thank heavens they were both alive still! He said that they prolly weren't getting fed by the mother for some reason and they prolly tried to get food on their own. He was happy that I called and was going to give them pedialyte back at the center. He also told me that he was sorry it took so long, he was helping a different squirrel on Elmwood in Kenmore that had been hit by a chainsaw. I hope they make it. They were really cute.
The SPCA is a great organization. They take care of injured animals, and if they are wild animals they let them go free once they are better. They also take animals that people don't want any more and they put them up for adoption. That's how I got my beautiful little bunny, Ruby.

who is craig anyway?
(e:hodown) I heard about Buffalo's craigslist when my stupid ex-boyfriend (who lives in Brooklyn) told me about it. He thought it was just the coolest thing in the world and that now Buffalo is officially connected. Personally, I don't really see any use for a site that like. I dunno about the rest of y'all.

(e:paul) rock on for that interview! I first started using this site because I wanted to spread the word about Peter Singer and his apartment scam, [inlink]maidencateyes,111[/inlink] but I continue to write because it makes me feel connected and it's fun. I like reading about what goes on the community, even if I don't know any of you.
