check out my videos!!!

ok, first and foremost...

(e:ajay) and anyone who happened to read his journal entry, sorry, but that wasn't me!!! although, i guess i could make something out of those videos, j/k ;)

NEXT!!! and this is exciting!!! (well for me)

so back in mid april when i was stressing the hell out with school and stuff i took the FE (fundamentals of engineering) exam. And it was terrible!!! it's a pass fail type of thing, if you get better than a 70, you are golden, in fact, "on your way to becoming a Professional Engineer." and since it takes them up to 12 weeks to get the results out, i just spent the past 2 months dreading the fact that I'm gonna need to start studying again once i get the results (thinking, i for sure scored below 70%)

But the results finally showed up in that mail box the other day, and believe it or not, i am the BEST GUESSER in the world... I GOT A 76!!!!! I PASSED!!!! I am officially on my way to becoming a Professional Engineer!!! (too bad i still can't find a job)

oh well... i have the rest of my life to do that whole job thing ;)

it's hot in here!!

wow, it's sooo hot and humid!! I love it!!! :) except for fact that it's soo hot in my house that i think my 17 yr old doggy is about to pass out from heat exhaustion... she still has her big furry coat from the winter... the poor puppy :( she was panting like crazy all day while she was just laying there... i wanted to soak her with the hose, but i kinda felt bad to do that, so i took her down to the basement... it's a lot cooler there!!!

well it's gonna be warm again tomorrow, but the weather people said that it's gonna cool down again next week :( so get outside and enjoy it NOW!!!! :)

Can I have your number?

here, I have a solution to everyone's dating problems... hehehehehe, well not really, but I suppose you could try it...

little background: I went to a "bar crawl" thing in Pittsburgh last weekend and we there were a whole bunch of contests and stuff throughout the night, but the one I ended up winning was "aquiring the most phone numbers"

ok, so we all got these t-shirts that said "2005 Shadyside tour" (it was in the "Shadyside district I guess, I don't really know Pittsburgh so well) and the back had a list of all the bars we were scheduled to go to and all that fun stuff...

and so I don't even remember how we started it; I think I went up to some old men off in a corner of the second bar we were at, and just asked for their phone numbers. and they said sure and there I had my first 2 numbers... I don't know what happened next but before I knew it, we were getting numbers from everyone!!! by the time we got to the last bar of the night, guys were coming up to me asking what I was doing with all the numbers... (some suspected it was a sorority thing, or bachelorette party or whatever, but no, we were just a bunch of people all with matching shirts with marker all over them...) and everyone wanted to give me their number. then after, when we went back to the house there were 3 of us with all about the same number of phone numbers so the guy who owned the house started calling numbers from the shirts to verify if they were real... the numbers selected from the other girls shirts didn't work out, then I gave him one, and thank you Dan O'Neill whoever you are for giving me a real number giving me the victory!!!

ok, so there's the story behind my genius plan, so now all you need to do it go get a shirt, put something stupid on it, and go out asking people to give you their phone numbers so you can win a prize. so then later on when you feel the urge to go out with someone, you just have to grab that shirt and try to make out whatever number you can get and be like, "hey, remember giving me your number on my shirt? well... " and you can come up with whatever line you want at that point. and if they say "no" well no worries, you still have like 40 other numbers to choose from.

go do it, it's lots of fun. I would soo be tempted to call some of em, if it wasn't for the fact that I'm not going to be back in Pittsburgh in like forever...

oh, and here are some pictures of the shirt to get an idea of what you are going for:

image

and i even got a police officer's number... well kinda

image

so there ya go... and i'm back in buffalo for the rest of the summer... looking for a job and just, yeah, doing nothing really...

now go get some numbers!!!!

snow in may in buffalo???

ok, so first of all, I'M DONE WITH SCHOOL!!! (for this semester, still have 2 classes next fall) im sooo excited!!! i have already started to celebrate, went to see a movie last night, "hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" weird weird, but funny movie, and went golfing this morning (well just the range, but still, it was something) now i can't wait till sunday to really celebrate!!! university of miami rowing will be over for me FOREVER!!! and with that ending our "dry season" we will be celebrating!!! I WILL BE CELEBRATING!!! I'm even hanging out here an extra week to "celebrate" for the last time with all my classmates who are gonna be graduating :( that's sooo sad, I'm gonna miss em :(

ok ok, but on to the title of this entry...

so as i said i was golfing today, and as we were walking to the car from the club, there were 3 "older" men walking in front of us... and i hear the one say "Buffalo" so i nudge eric to listen and I try to listen closer... next thing i hear is "snowing in may" and "oh so cold there" and i just started chuckling!!! everyone has been talking about how nice it is there, and three little old men in miami think you guys are still playing in the snow...

ok, i guess it's not that funny, but still, i laughed.... has it ever really snowed in may in buffalo before??? i know it has in april... but may??? oh well... have fun in the sun everyone... when i get back there, everyone is gonna be more tan than i am ;)

it's done!!!

image

ok, there's a southwest view of my building... and I'm done with it!!!! don't think i've ever spent so much time on one project until this, eeek, i have to do my time log tomorrow, that will be fun to make up # of hours of the last 9 months ;)

but the drawings are all printed out, the presentation was presented, the calculations done (except for the cost analysis, again, gotta do that tomorrow) so that's enough to say "it's done" to me!!!

but speaking of the presentation, all i have to say about that is i am technically challenged... i had so much trouble with the clicker!!! on the slideshow, first i accidentally clicked backward to the previous slide, then i guess i held the button down too long cuz it advanced like 8 slides, and wouldn't stop... then i had to scroll back like a moron... then after being all baffled by that, i meant to press the laser pointer, but no, i pressed the advance slide clicker again... what's wrong with me??? and of course, after the presentation, we get critiqued and questioned, and of course, i get a question about plumbing that i didn't even realize was directed toward me... i had no idea what he was talking about... ahhhh, oh well, IT'S OVER!!!!

getting charged...

ok, i was reading the stuff here about the "runaway bride" and how there's discussion on how she should be charged for her actions and such... and i honestly know nothing about the story other that what i kinda got from here, (no time to watch or read the news right now) but i have heard of some news down here from a few weeks ago...

two girls (freshmen) at my school got run down by a lady who ran a red light driving on the highway right off campus. and one of the girls died!!! how terrible, right??? but what i find even more terrible is that the woman who hit her is only getting charged for running the red light. a girl is dead because of it, and i don't know the current condition of the other (lack of news again) but shouldn't she get charged with a little more than just a stupid ticket for running a red light?!?!? what about negligent homicide??? something... i mean, I'm sure she is suffering enough knowing she killed some girl, (at least she should be) but still!!!

ok, this was a nice little break, gotta get back to working on my building... it's due tomorrow!!! the presentation is tomorrow!!! I"M GONNA BE DONE WITH IT TOMORROW!!!! and then I'll have time to do my other projects ;)

how do you eat an elephant???

Has anyone ever heard of that saying???? cuz i was a little taken back when a girl in my engineering group (and all my classes for that matter) said that to me the other day...

I was telling her how stressed i am with all of my projects and stuff, and how no matter how much tI'me i was spending on it all and all the work i was doing, it still felt like i wasn't getting anywhere

she said one of her grade school teachers told her that when she was little...

ok, so the answer is "a piece at a time" (and i know this is prolly gonna piss off some elephant lovers/non meat eaters, but it's just a saying, ok ;) )

so from this little... i don't even know what i would call it... i realized i needed to focus on one project at a time, and then once that was done with, i could move onto another.

however of course, just as parts of an elephant would go rotten if it just sits there too long and doestn get eaten, projects have due dates and other factors like group members...grrr. so after scheduling out my days, i have managed to put the head down for a few days (head is sr design... the building we've been working on all year) and have managed to ingest and fully digest 2 of the legs!!! got HVAC out of the way the other day with the help of another girl in my class, and then the past 2 days have been the lighting project (another group though) and we presented that this evening!!!
now i just have to start to nibble at the masonry project, oh... that's not a tasty one :( and then construction management, ahh, another group project...

but at least i have completed 2 of them!!! now only 3 to go, plus finals, plus rowing.... ahhhh, elephants are big animals!!!!

oh, and i had a job interview today!!! yeah, but i don't think it's much to get excited about... i mean it's a job, but not engineering, but it's dept of transportation "sun guide control center" something to do with transportation... but i don't know anything about transportation.... oh well... I've wasted enough time writing this... time to go study for an HVAC test I have tomorrow... eeek :(

and what's all this talk about snipping certain body parts??? i have never heard it being done to a woman, why on earth would anyone ever do that??? that just sounds absurd!!! oh well... people do strange things to their kids i guess... (it is just done as babies right?) ahhh, i don't want to think about it!

im out...

Necessary Procrastination

it was necessary... i had to do it... i coudnt put it off any longetr... i needed a night of PROCRASTINATION and it felt GREAT!!!

i feel like I've been going non-stop forever...

i took the FE on Saturday... i didn't realize an 8 hour test would take up 12.5 hours of my day... not to mention drain the hell out of my brain as i sat there for through the second part of the test... just staring at the test booklet and playing Eni-meni-minni-mo for 4 hours... it was ridiculous, i think out of the 60 questions in the second part, i "knew" only about 5 of them... YIKES!!! well i don't get the results for a while so until i find out if i passed and am done or failed and will be taking it again in Oct, I'm just gonna forget all about it!!!

and Saturday night, Sunday all day (after practice) and today (the tI'me from when i got home from practice until it was due at 3:30) i have been working on that stupid senior design building project... i just want it to all be over with!!!! NOW!!!!

but i spent a good hour lunch break with jacks ranting back and forth about rowing and how we are both SO annoyed at everything in life right now

and rowing is killing me... I'm sucking SO bad right now... it's so sad, but i just can't wait till it's over... i never thought i'd say that, and i know once it's over I'll prolly be so sad and regret ever saying it, but there ya go, i can't wait till it's over!!! only 27 more days!!! then i can drink again too!!! ohhh, i could soo go for a drink right about now.

ok, so after i handed in what i had actually finished (not nearly all of it) i went to the athletic dept... i needed to talk to my coach. well jacks was there talking to hI'm at the tI'me!!! so the two if us pretty much blew up at hI'm letting out all of our frustration of what he's putting us through right now... (maybe I'll get into that later... not in the mood to right now)

then i went to dinner and saw yassi!!!! i love yassi!!! she's the sweetest girl in the world!!! and we had been talking about going dress shopping for our formal banquet in Clemson this weekend, but couldn't find tI'me for it... till i came up with my brilliant plan: when we are both totally overwhelmed with school work and the need for sleep, WE SHOULD PROCRASTINATE AND GO DRESS SHOPPING!!!!

SO WE DID!!! it was great to be doing something... anything other than school work and thinking!!! and we both succeeded!!! both got a dress to wear this weekend!!! (and I'm excited cuz i need it for my engineering senior banquet coming up in a few weeks too!!!) even better, i charged that to my mom's credit card... happy (late) birthday to me!!!

ahh, but now I'm soo tired, i could try to get some work done, cuz i know i have so much to do, but NOPE!!! I'm going to sleep ;)

hey, and anyone know of any architectural (structural or some civil) engineering internships in the buffalo area??? i need a job!!! and my locations are limited to Miami and buffalo...
