I found it through colr.org and then through flickr but alas I can't locate the original page again. I usually change back to my solid black in around 3 days but this desktop feels so much more awesome than any I have ever had. The greens are so perfect and the yellow is just so happy!

EDIT: Located the original, after some crooked-logic searching:

Does look like a dirty camera lens more than post processing...
paul - 06/09/11 09:45
That is really nice. I wonder if it was manipulated. How did they get that almost underwater effect, greasy lens or in post production?

Calcium! Calcium!
Category: eating in
The best way to beat cramps is by increasing calcium intake. I know that yogurt is the BEST way to get calcium in my diet but I keep forgetting to eat yogurt and end up with the most vicious of cramps.

I can get 80% calcium in one little 8oz serving of Yogurt! I am going to burn this figure into my teeny brain. So the next time I am making excuses about there not being an ideal calcium source, I can come here and see plain facts staring me in face.

Plain low fat Yogurt

I just noticed that the fat-free version has 45% calcium. That is NINETY PERCENT of what I need in a day, served in a teeny 8 oz cup. WHY do I not remember this when it matters the most. Yogurt. Yogurt. Yogurt. Check.

Have you ever tried making kefir at home? My brother is on this kefir kick and keeps extolling its virtues. Next time I visit, I am going to bring home some kefir grains with me to start my own kefir production. I can finally have sour yogurt all the time then. Yogurt at home is very much like Kefir and pretty sour. Here, the yogurt almost tastes like milk.
paul - 06/07/11 22:21
I love yogurt again. Vanilla is my favorite. I like plain but vanilla is much tastier.

Neutral Samaritan?
Category: opinion
If you hear a massive sound of possibly an automobile accident a few blocks away from your home, do you

a) ignore it and hope no one is injured
b) go out with phone in hand ready to call 911.
c) ignore if it is in the small hours of the night/morning but go out and investigate if it is earlier.

What do you do? I often hear terrible sounds from my flat. Sometimes I have gone out with phone in hand and found nothing and sometimes I have ignored them and felt terribly guilt-wracked when I have heard fire-trucks a whole 15 minutes after.

What do you all do?
tinypliny - 06/07/11 12:57
I think the anxiety of not checking up on people gets to me. I admit that I sometimes block out everything with a ton of music when I need to be working on and finishing stuff.
lilho - 06/06/11 11:27
i think i would always be curious so look and see because of that initially and help if i saw something wrong... i take care of people though for work so its in my nature
tinypliny - 06/05/11 11:24
That's an excellent idea. Next time, I am just going to race up to the roof as fast as I can and scope the street out before I call 911 or go out to help.
paul - 06/05/11 10:16
You could always just call the police and say you heard a noise. Then again if someone was bleeding out that might take too long. I guess it depends on the severity of the sound. Maybe you could look from the roof patio?

Is it still raining, my love?
Category: the odes

Yes, and I am bored to death of rains in what is supposed to be summer.

PS: If you have not watched Bleak House, you should. There are fewer series as wonderfully done as this adaptation and Gillian Anderson is absolutely flawless as Lady Dedlock.
tinypliny - 06/06/11 14:47
Yes! I am a not-so-secret stalker. I have seen around 95% of the stuff that she has been in!
matthew - 06/06/11 13:31
I loved that adaptation. I've always though Ms. Anderson was beautiful. Have you seen House of Mirth?
metalpeter - 06/04/11 20:11
I've seen some pictures on line and she is nice to look at but I like her kinda buttoned up I know her as skully I don't want to go to far but Yeah I would kinda let her do all sorts of gross things to me... It is kinda like how I used to think (spartacus changed this for me or maybe it is just all the nudity) that Lucy Lawless wasn't hot but dressed as Zena she was but never really watched the show so....
tinypliny - 06/04/11 19:04
Man, I spelled magnificent wrong. So here goes....
M.A.G.N.I.F.I.C.E.N.C.E = Gillian Anderson.
tinypliny - 06/04/11 19:03
She is one of the best actresses there is today. Her recent shows and films have been impeccable.
tinypliny - 06/04/11 19:02
She isn't really hot?????????!! What universe are you in (e:metalpeter)! I say she burns up every little part she plays and in Bleak House (above clip) she is M.A.G.N.I.F.C.E.N.T. Scully was the reason I went into medical school.
metalpeter - 06/04/11 18:59
Gillian Anderson is interesting she isn't really hot but she is so hot as Scully in anything X-Files.... I've seen her in something else where she is pretty hot... But just in pictures it isn't there.....

Best Dark Chocolate Bar at Walgreens
Category: eating in
Is Lindt 85% Dark chocolate.
image
It is probably the only chocolate bar at Walgreens (@Delaware & North) that does not have cloying amounts of sugar and soy lecithin and whatnots that yuck-ify all dark chocolate.

It would have been awesome had they carried the 90% Lindt or even the 85% Valrhona, but they don't. So in their whole dark chocolate inventory, Lindt 85% easily stands heads and shoulders above all the rest.

And yes, I have now sampled each and every single dark chocolate bar they carry or have ever carried (some of them multiple times) so I declare myself a Walgreens (@Delaware & North) dark chocolate expert.

PS: I admit that I am not a Walgreens (@Delaware & North) expert in chocolate bars other than the dark ones - because I think all non-dark chocolate is mediocre by definition.
tinypliny - 06/04/11 18:43
I am very much allllllliive and well and I did knock 3.5 oz of the 85% bar in around 4 hours. That clears it up. :)
metalpeter - 06/04/11 17:35
85% is some strong stuff not sure where dark really starts getting strong... That is supposed to be good to lower blood pressure a bar of that might knock a person if they can get through it?
