soliciting opinions
1. I'm starting to notice more people with unusual moustaches and beards. Is facial hair coming back into style? Or are people with facial hair deluding ourselves that it's coming back into style?

2. People Magazine says Johnny Depp is the sexiest man alive. Dude's one of my favorite actors but dang if he isn't skeezy as hell. What's the deal?

3. FiOS just became available at my house. It's only $10/month more than my current dry-loop DSL. I do not have, and do not have use for telephone or television service. Is it worth it?

Here is the thing in terms of Johny Depp, I love his acting or maybe it is the roles he plays. In that picture he is scary. But that being said in Public Enemies he is very Hansome. In terms of Beards they never went away really. Look at Hockey players during playoff time. There are beards I wish I could grow but they drive me crazy trying to grow them, they are the Metal style. What I mean is they look like braids and sometimes form a spike those are pretty cool. I Haven't seen any of the wild face styles other then in movies but they look great on say bad guys.

If memory serves, years ago, Johnny Dep said that he first cultivated the scraggly look in an effort to shed his "pretty boy" image.

Yeah, you're missing a photo of Paul in this journal, obviously.

The porn syache is totally back in style. Apparently there's this whole vitorian style resurgance. There was a article about it in the Style section of the NYT a few days ago. But I will say that (e:paul) has always loved the stache action.

The painting moustache bloke is clearly pointing to where the rest of his gold loot is hidden - in that massive sunflower!! Who is he?! We need to find that flower pronto!
jenks - 11/18/09 22:45
yeah, I don't get the johnny depp thing. I am generally not into facial hair, and completely agree that his is skeezy- yet at the same time I agree that he is one of the sexiest men alive.

HmmMMm.

We started it, they are copying us. There is even a guy at my gym with a handlebar mustache now.

free money
I just got a coupon in the mail for $100 towards Google ads. I'm not going to use it but if you do, send me an email and I'll give you the coupon code. Value drops to $75 after December 4, valid until December 31. It says 'new advertisers only,' but you may be able to work around that.

Nah, Google is just sending the love selectively. I use AdSense.
zobar - 11/12/09 20:49
As I pushed the button I thought: maybe everybody got these. I thought we had something special, Google!

Just had to say that I literally just finished opening the same mail when I clicked on your post.

live-blogging cross-stitch
Great party last night! It's always fun but also interesting hanging out with the (e:peeps). We left around 1a because (e:dragonlady7) was sleepy and actually under the weather [not the hamthrax, though].

You may not believe it from the frequency of my updates, but I'm live-blogging my crafting too. Someone was taking up the only sunny spot in the house.

OK this photo may be slightly too cute. (e:dragonlady7) earnestly cautioned me that if I posted crafts on the Internet, it would be assumed that I am female. Now I understand.

Does anybody want a copy of the chart?

8-bit cross-stitch
(e:dragonlady7) has started up a craft club which involves bringing a craft project, ignoring it while you drink a lot of alcohol, staying over, sleeping late, working off your hangover, and then putting in a couple stitches before heading home. We're very productive! But up until this weekend, my stated project was 'fidgeting.' Like, winding thread or something I guess. So this weekend I upgraded to 'advanced fidgeting:'

That is so cute!
tinypliny - 10/26/09 09:06
I want to be part of this craft club. I will bring my own orange juice as well.

You captured the spirit of your avatar here pretty well... well, except for the spot of blood in the ear and the finger.

i don't know about this.

...but if you don't, we'll send the deformed babies in person next time.

Cleft palate is a serious problem, and they say they can fix it in 45 minutes for only $250. That's amazing! It boggles my mind. But am I the only person who sees an implied threat to send unsettling photos until I pay up?

libertad - 10/22/09 18:45
I love that!
jim - 10/22/09 14:42
There's that other charity "God Kills a Kitten" where they kill a kitten (on behalf of god, one would suppose) if you don't donate.

I think the money all goes to Sally Struthers.
james - 10/22/09 14:34
On principle, I would never give money to an organization named Smile Train no matter how worthy the cause.
