now you can see the whole costume... im sad now that halloween is over. i never liked halloween until this year. i realized it has potential for full on glitter and camp, which is basically what makes life worth living! what to be next year...

I feel like you should send a piocture of this to Liza Minelli.
matthew - 11/03/09 10:16
If you were a bird Sarah, you'd definatley be a peacock.
heidi - 11/02/09 22:32
I want "how to be a girl" lessons from (e:lilho) & (e:hodown).
libertad - 11/02/09 21:04
I want that bird. I love you because you don't wear cheap makeup.
lilho - 11/02/09 19:24
oh, the makeup was really easy to get off. i turned on the shower and sat down and washed my face! i use a loreal cleanser that removes eye makeup as well. the feathers came off easily, i used latex eyelash glue, and it comes off painlessly and easily. i dont use cheap makeup, so it didnt irritate my face, and instead of crappy face paint, i used liquid shadows. i bought really fine glitter at the craft store because it is much cheaper than the sephora stuff and essentially the same thing and the jewels i used the latex glue for as well. i brought eye drops with me the the parties because the glitter was irritating my eyes and that helped to clear them out!
lilho - 11/02/09 19:18
thanks guys! it was actually pretty simple to do the costume, the makeup was the hard part which was actually a lot more intricate in person. for the feathers around my neck and back i pinned a boa to my leotard. i bought a tutu that didn't fit right, so i cut off the waist band and pinned the tutu to fit around my waist and pinned the purple flower broach to the front and i wore black spandex leggings underneath. the feather tail was angel wings turned upside down and worn at the waist and tied around with elastic like a belt. i glued an extra row of feather plumes to the bottom of the back of the wings to elongate the tail and add color and voila! i am thinking of being an ostrich next year, but an elegant one as they are not a very pretty bird!
heidi - 11/02/09 16:50
Wow!!!! I'm so glad you posted full pix! That's a total winner of a costume. Beautiful job!!! How did you do it?

(btw, were the feathers & glitter hard to get off your face?)
businesscheese - 11/02/09 12:25
Love it, Lilho! Espesh the eye makeup. Rawr.

there were no peacock feathrs but i made one amzing bird. everyone, including myself agreed i had the coolest costume.

like tim gunn says, "make it work", which i totally did.

a couple was dressed as tim gunn and heidi klum at one of the parties. we made great friends. only true fashionistas can understand the meaning of couture halloween...

theecarey - 11/01/09 14:30
The feathers and glitter creates a pretty look.
lilho - 11/01/09 13:39
i painted my face. the feathers are glued to my eyebrows... well not anymore but they were. it looked so cool, but so uncomfortable and i am now so sick and allergic today from all of the feathers and glitter. surprised i didn't go blind.
heidi - 11/01/09 13:39
Wow!!! How did you do that? I want more pix!
paul - 11/01/09 13:31
is that painted on your face, or some sort of applique with feathers

peacock
i am obsessed with being an amazing diy peacock for halloween. its getting expensive and i don't know if i can pull it off.

ALL to prove a point my friends.

i can do this...
hodown - 10/30/09 12:14
I approve of this.
heidi - 10/30/09 11:07
Wow!!! That sounds so cool!!! how about fairy wing frames available at party stores? I've heard that nice pet stores have lots of peacock feathers for cats for pretty cheap.

a lack of glamour here
my sister life is not very glamourous and this upsets me. she carries her laundry down the street like a common hobo... to the laundromat and back.

i'm hoping to change some of this for her, at least for a day. maybe i will treat her to a an overnight spa day for her xmas gift.

i am on the no spending money plan which includes me. sitting at home when i am not working, thinking about how i should get online and do my french assignments and then watching netflix and eating chocolate and mac n cheese.

by christmas i may not be allowed in the spa, you will need a crane to lift me.

the good news is my clothes still fit which means if i stop this now, i can be back in shape in just a month. must hike 4 miles a day.

anyway, (e:deeglam) is supposed to come soon, and she gets a spa day too. i am so sick of the lack of glamour everywhere. are we doomed to life a plain and sparkleless life?????
tinypliny - 10/24/09 00:45
Yes, I definitely need a fashion advisor like you. I completely lack whatever it takes to dress "glamourously".

metalpeter - 10/23/09 16:52
I do wash at my mothers. Clothes you have to do your own. I have thought about maybe going to the Place on Brynnt I guess they have flat screens in there now. There also used to be a place on Main St. that connected to a Bar. But that was way to far for me.
hodown - 10/23/09 09:51
I'm freaked out by it as well (e:tiny). I don't dry anything and I wash everything on different cycles. I just can't stomach the thought of letting someone else do it.
tinypliny - 10/23/09 08:54
I would be totally freaked out if someone else did my laundry (well, apart from someone in my family). I usually prefer that EVERYthing be washed on the highest heat settings and the highest stress cycle regardless of whatever instructions there may be.
vincent - 10/23/09 00:45
I carry my laundry to the laundromat, but I come back later in the day to pick it up washed and folded. Well Most things I do drop there, but there are still some clothes that I do wash on my own since I can't trust them follow the instruction label.
hodown - 10/22/09 21:15
Dude I live in the city, everyone does it. I loathe it, but a girls gotta do what a girls gotta do.

all by myself
My lappy is sick. I couldn't get an appointment at the genius bar until tomorrow night. Until then its just me.

I am forced to use Julie's IBM to do my work tomorrow. The thought makes me want to barf.

Anytime I get sad I think of (e:Deeglam) who has been through so much. Send her happy thoughts and love, she has a lot on her plate.

Its crazy how much I don't want to be in Buffalo, but there are so many people there that I want to be there for.

Today is the first day since I have left that I have actually considered going back.
.
I hope this feeling is short lived because I detest winter like no other.
paul - 10/21/09 10:08
Oh the tragedy of a sick mac. What is wrong with it?
