Tonight we were at a party where a woman couldn't get enough of my husband but kept giving me the evil eye. I'm still trying to figure out what exactly was going on.

Good ShopperAt the grocery store this evening, an older woman stopped me with a question. "You look like a good shopper. Good shopper, where do I find lightbulbs?" I pointed to a few aisles down. She replied, "Thank you, Good Shopper!".
Perhaps I exude confidence and knowledge when I grocery shop?! Anway, I want "Good Shopper" to be my new nickname in my picture, instead of pastor's wife.

hahaha... that's got to be the best trick in the trade of asking complete strangers about stuff. I am taking notes. ;-)
Usually I go with, "I love your hair". "That's a beautiful shirt". "I love that favoured yoghurt you have". "That's the creamiest cheese. Excellent choice". etc. :)

Linda Yalem Safety Run(e:James) was so kind as to accompany me to the Linda Yalem 5K Safety Run at UB's North Campus this morning.
The race started with bagpipers playing Amazing Grace in memory of Linda Yalem. And then we were off. I started with the 10 minute mile group and (e:James) went with the 9mile group. I think we both regretted it and should have moved up by one so we could get out faster. I wasted a lot of initial energy dodging around people and I did run my first mile at 9 minutes, my second mile at 10.5 minutes and the last 1.16 miles at 10.5 minutes.
I was happy to end at 30.5 minutes which is a 2 minute decrease from my previous 5k. But I had bee hoping to hit 29 minutes or under. James put me to shame with his 26.5 minute run.
We left the race full of UB cafeteria food, stylish t-shirts, tired bodies, and happy feelings!

Istanbul by Orhan PamukI bought this book at Talking Leaves and I'm not very satisfied with it. I don't have the receipt and I don't want to try to return it.
I'm wondering if someone would like to swap books with me. You give me something that you're not going to read again or isn't of interest to you and I'll give you Istanbul: Memories and The City.
It's a memoir of this individual's life that accounts what it is like to grow up in Istanbul. A lot of black and white photos of the city. It's written by a Nobel Prize Winner of Literature so it must be a good book to a lot of people. It just wasn't what I was looking for.
So throw something at me that might be of interest to me and I'll trade you. I really like historical fiction; memoirs (except for this one); and travel literature. Or maybe you just think there's something I absolutely should read.

I have Orhan Pamuk's "My Name Is Red" and I love it, love it, love it. So too bad you didn't like his memoirs-- I could see how they wouldn't be as interesting. I definitely definitely recommend "Red"-- it's a historical murder mystery, but it's about manuscript illuminators, and it's full of these gorgeously baroque little details of setting and character, and it just sucks you in and covers you over and you never want to leave. I wish I could write like that.
I haven't anything to offer in trade, and have my own issues with reading anyway, but I thought I should stick up for O.P. anyway. Turkey tried to outlaw him!

Try Anthony Bourdain's "Kitchen Confidential" or "A Cook's Tour"
They will fulfill all of your desires for historical memoirs and travel..

I wish I were able to read books as I used to. :( Somehow all my book-reading adventures are ended by graduate-guilt nowadays and I exclusively stick to dry science journals as my source of entertainment. :/

VacationWe took fabulous two week vacation a couple of weeks ago and I'm just now getting around to sharing some pics. I'm lazy, so I'm only going to share the photos of Drew and I sailing in the Chesapeake Bay with my Brother, his girlfriend and the family boat.

Hey, that is a cool cap your bro is wearing! :)
Hey, that is a cool cap your bro is wearing! :)
I wasn't at the party so I can't say. But I have a few guesses.
1. She wanted drew to her self (if you know what I mean)
2. She didn't get that you two were together and so she was trying to tell you to stay away
3. Maybe when he would talk she liked his ideas on things and gave you the evil eye because she didn't like what you would say
4. Maybe that is just how she looks at people
5. maybe she knows who you are from someone else or heard something about you she doesn't like from someone
6. When you don't know some one it is easy to miss read body langauge
7. If she was giving you the evil eye then it meant you where looking at her maybe she didn't like that
With out being there and with out seeing what was going on and knowing all the details it is just guessing but maybe someone else who was there might have an idea based on what they saw and other gossip prehaps
Some women just seem to find men more appealing when they're attached to someone else. Like its some sort of twisted challenge. You just flash a little smile, give a little wink, and say "That's right B****, he's still comin home with me."
You've got a sexy husband, that's what's going on!
