I have a doctors appointment to discuss this on Friday Feb 1. I wonder if anything else is wrong with me - I took so many tests last week.
Finally, I have an appointment with a gastro on Thursday. I wasn't going to go but now I might go to discuss this with them. What if everything is my allergies. I am really only a step away form bubble boy. What the fuck happend to me that made me so allergic to everything. It seems liek my immune system is so over the top xenophobic.
Gluten causes damage to the intestinal lining by eroding the villi and microvilli essential for digestion and absorption processes. This damage then increases the likelihood of partially digested gluten proteins passing into the bloodstream. Certain proteins cause our immune systems to react. Undigested partial proteins found in gluten cereals have morphine-like properties once they enter the bloodstream, suggesting an origin for the phrase 'comfort foods' and its addictive nature. Once an immune response has been initiated, inflammatory reactions can cause a whole host of wheat allergy symptoms. A gluten/wheat allergy may not always be a severe frequent reaction but can result in many digestive symptoms flatulence, bloating, constipation, diarrhea, pain etc. and may aggravate a host of other symptoms.

Sorry Paul I goofed. The Ezekiel bread is flourless but actually contains just about everything that you are not supposed to eat. So scratch that idea and shame on me for not checking the facts first.
hey Paul sorry to hear the rotten news. Ami suggests (if you're not already hip to it) eating Ezekiel bread. It's available in the freezer/refrigerator case of the Lexington Co-op and the Amherst St. Wegman's (natural/vegetarian foods section).
We've been eating this Ezekiel stuff for 10 days or so and I have to say, if you like whole-grain bread it's pretty tasty, and apparently it's gluten-free and all that.
I really can't imagine being allergic to something. I know a lot of people are but for me it is a hard idea to grasp. The part that drives my mind wild is that some are caused by your body thinking things are harmfull that aren't and then that causes problems. I wish you luck in getting what is wrong all figured out and dealing with it.
wow...I honestly honestly believed that in america health care was awesome if you had insurance and if you had something wrong they would diagnose you in a week and sort you out...it's just as bad as Britain and not even free!
I do, but this might be my trigger or make it worse? I realy need to talk to my doctor before I know more.
does this mean that you don;t have crohn's or the ulcery thing? Or are they still not sure..I am as confused as you now
Dude -
I'm really sorry that you are going through this. I know how much you like eating various foods and this has to be a major lifestyle change for you. The good news, AFAIK, is that you can still eat all the seafood you want. Still though, I hope that you can find ways to enjoy eating with limiting how compromised you feel.
